This was unreal! You're the first person I've seen pull this song off, and you did it like a BOSS! I hope some band is enjoying your talent. Great job brother!
MMy favorite part was 3:34 cuz the cymbal is going NOM NOM NOM. Great cover by the way. I don't play drums i play guitar so i dont know if my opinion matters but i wish you were in my band
I have a question...I plan on purchasing the Yamaha DTXPRESS IV standard for $999, and it only comes with one bass pedal.....Do you know how I could get double bass on it? Do I have to buy a special double bass attachment or can I just buy any double bass pedal?
You're actually lucky they're giving you a free single pedal! When I bought my kit, there wasn't even a single pedal coming with it! Well, I wouldn't use it anyway, for I wanted to use double pedals. Answering your question, you can purchase a double pedal. It fits just fine in the bass drum pad.
@lgalicki Thanks! I love your covers by the way! :D I just subscribed. I'm actually wanting to buy a drumset just like yours now with the china and the splash also. If you got message me or tell me how I could have your setup in this video...That would be very much appreciated :)
Oh man, come one! I recognize Jimmy is a better drummer than me overall, but my Dyers Eve cover is closer to the original than his. My version is flawless, except for the cymbal chokes at around 1:00, which I didn't do because they were pretty hard on this e-kit, where only one crash cymbal is "chokable".
@lgalicki I know its hard to play some hard shit on an elcetrical kit cuz its smaller.. But i can hear Lars snare then urs like maybe less than split second. Trust me im good at hearing stuff like this
@masterofpuppets2092 I've been using triggers on my acoustic kit for over 10 years live and will never go back. You don't need much sound processing for live situations which is so much faster setting up and getting a good drum sound!
Yikes dude, you may need to work on that self-esteem there. You're good, it's just that, I think your lacking the energy for this one.. Let your mood correspond to the feeling of the music man... Your all backwards here. That's like someone headbanging when they play jazz lol.. It just doesn't look right...
After making the octimized version of Dyers Eve I've discovered I can actually kind of manage to sing it in the higher register as well, if I tune down the guitar one and a half steps (three semitones!!! :)) and I wanted to make another vid with you on my TV and me playing / singing next to it, but the original track in your vid doesn't go well with my tuned down guitar, as you can imagine. Any chance of you uploading a version of your Dyers Eve vid with just your drums?
I remember trying to play that when i was in high school getting shin cramps and falling off the stool LOL! thanks for reminding me i still cant play it haha.
Thanks man! I'm in a situation I can't afford to play in a regular loud kit. The noise won't let me. But the e-kits are way better than you think. Once you try a good one, you'll find out what a nice "toy" it is!
That was just epic. Perfect drumming, perfect sound, great job mate! If you are taking requests, there would be a list of songs I would like to see you covering, it would be nice if you can pick any of them. From Children of Bodom:
Living Dead Beat, Downfall, Lake Bodom, Hatebreeder or Silent Night, Bodom Night.
Metallica: Disposable Heroes, Fight Fire With Fire.
All That Remains: Become The Cataclyst
Megadeth: Sweating Bullets
Slayer: Angel of Death or Raining Blood. Thanks alot if you do! :)
Thanks a lot, my friend! There are two of the songs you mentioned which I was thinking about covering, but I wasn't sure if I should do them. I thank you for requesting songs, because sometimes I'm really in a lot of doubt about which one I should do next. I may be covering Downfall in the future. I was also thinking about doing Fight Fire With Fire with some original drum lines written by me.
Yes, it is. It's easier to control, to reach high speed and to endure more with the pedals when my thighs are parallel to the ground. Regarding the hands, it's easier to reach the toms like that, which requires less arm movement, improving speed, endurance and precision. One cool thing about e-kits is the fact that the pads are not as tall (or deep) as regulars toms, so it's more flexible when we're talking about positioning of its pieces.
hey what kind of kit is this i sorta like the sound of it. its doesnt have better sound then roland kits but it sounds good enough and looks like it doesnt cost over 1000 $
About the sounds: you could always pick the samples of your preference Maybe yours wouldn't match mine. You can also use a virtual drums software, which will give tons of sample options and would work with this kit or the Roland. VDS is actually the "pro way to go", by the way. I don't use any because I'm a Linux user and there aren't any really good available for it.
We have the same double pedal =) What adustment do you have for it ? :P Because i can't play so fast on it in the double bass parts or do i need to warm up xD ?
Well, I'd say that besides warming up, which is useful, practice is necessary. You can train playing this song, playing other songs to have some variation or practicing exercises which focus on double bass speed.
Another thing I consider is the fact of being tired. I can't play faster parts very well when I'm tired after exercising or not having a good night of sleep.
Pedal configuration: power shifter in "strong" position (front) and string tension around the middle.
Thanks a lot, man! I'm glad you enjoy the kit! Some people dislike e-kits. Maybe it's because they never tried a good one to see how nice they are.
Hum... yeah! The four horsemen could be put in the line. I wanna do some other bands/drummers first, and the next planned Metallica song is Battery, though. But I'll keep TFH in mind.
