ALWAYS loved this song! This was back in the day when harmony and all vocals were REAL..no digital "fixing" ..It's so nice to finally find this song on here!
Never got to see/hear many "Brits" (never been to but love England!), but was blessed to have seen some American groups in one concert during that era...The Left Banke, Harpers Bizarre, The Critters, and Mandala...good stuff...Tunesmith
One of the most beautiful songs ever written of all time in my book. It's just...nice. Plain and simple. No deep message other than I'm crazy about ya babe. You are the best in my book and I love you.
@rolandrog Baffling. I have never heard the DC5 sound the least like the Beatles, and Mike Smith, in particular, doesn't sound at all like John Lennon.
hey you@billsgwn whatz your problem huh? dave clark 5 were in a totally realm as eminem, how could such a statement even be made about those 2??? imma and heard almost all of the golden oldies from my 3 fav decades of all time 60's 70's 80's!!!!! but you got a screw loose to try and put the em man and the dave clark5 he happened to be a huge sell and i will tell you his tunes talk to very real issues of the times, he is 1 of the best from his time, i just can't get comparing the 2 is all PEACE!!
Simple, clear, intelligent lyrics sung with beautiful harmony from voices that stood on their own. A song that I NEVER get tired of listening to, even decades later. So very few songs I can actually say that about!!

bsstrr1 it was not dave clark who fell and hurt his back, it was mike smith the singer who in my opinion had one of the most dynamic voices ever in rock and roll. Before the accident he had a great band called mike smith's rock engine. After the accdent he was badly paralyzed. He died not too long ago. His songs live forever.
Hello...I know...my opinion plus three dollars will buy a small coffee these days...but that being said...they looked great...dressed great...sang great...OOOPS!...forgot...doesn't matter these days...Bless the DC Five...Dave Clark...Mike Smith...back in the days when we had singers and musicians instead of yellers and noisicians...Tunesmith
At one time, it was the Beatles and The Dave Clark Five. They faded into the sunset. And the last I heard, Dave Clark, living in Spain, fell off the roof of his house and broke his back. If he can ever get this message, God Bless You for this wonderful music.
@bsstrr1 Actually, it was Mike Smith, the keyboardist and lead singer, who suffered the spinal injury. And, sadly, Mr. Smith passed away just days before the Dave Clark Five was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
@billsgwn Paraphrasing Petula Clark, it's just a sign of the times for the last 30+ years! What do you expect from even "adults" who grew up their whole lives on being dumbed down past the point of idiocy? The last two or three generations wouldn't know what good or great music REALLY is if it was staring them in the face. How pathetic when you call a total lack of (musical) talent "great" or even "good." Makes me want to gag, not cry.
@billsgwn In the world of computer programming there is a philosophy and truth know as "Garbage In/Garbage Out" This holds true in the real world also. "Garbage In" public office and we get "Garbage Out" from the population.
when I was in my early teens I used to listen to songs of the sixties and i love most of them and Dave Clark 5 was one of my fave....and now i am in my late 50s i still love listening to their songs bcos they brought back wonderful memories ...
I love these songs. These were the first songs I ever heard. Even though born in '87, my dad would play these all the time when I was a kid. I literally grew up with these songs. They bring back good memories.
In some ways, a very successful band in that their business dealings were favorable to them. Also, not the least, they have remained friends to this day.
I'll jump in too and admit this is also my favorite DC5 song. Even with all their great music, how could this song not be at the top of the list? Beautiful.
Not to be a copycat, but this is MY favorite DC5 song, too! I think it stands as one of the great love songs of the 60's. Yesterday, Sometime in the Morning, World Without Love, Happy Just to Dance With You, A Kind of Hush.....the hits just keep on coming.
in the early and mid sixties my father was transfered to northern France and the family followed.i was 12 years old,and had received a transistor radio as a Christmas gift. it picked up all the british stations and all day i would listen to herman s hermits, gerry and the pacemakers, the beatles... however my favorites were always the Dave Clarke Five. now t hat i m in my late 50 s i truly relish those great songs.
@etebas12 I know a dj from wfdu that picks the dc 5 as his favorite group when sid bernstein put the beatles in carneige hall the audience was jumping on their seats rock groups were banned from carneige hall bernstein had to put the DC 5 in the brooklyn paramount
@etebas12 when I was 12 my pet bat was killed when my sister backed my parents' car over her while she was washing it.This song was playing. I will always miss Michelle.
@etebas12 This was back in my youth too! We use to have a "shower of stars" in B'ham, AL and they would have 10 or 12 big names. They sounded exactly the same in person as on the radio! It's not that way these days. I've heard stars lower the key just to sing their own songs! We might be older..but we got to hear all the GOOD bands! I'm 57 and rarely hear this kind of harmony. If you like country, check out The Zac Brown Band..great harmonies!
I've always loved the organ in the background---most of the time. I also liked the sort of heavy drumming on what is, after all, a grinder. As a Beatles fan, I often wondered why they didn't do a slow song with heavy percussion---it's a great mixed-metaphore. I'm 58, and about three years ago, I had my "EGAD" moment. Of course, they did---after this. The song is called "In My Life". You may know it (that's a joke). Listen to Ringo, going nuts.
Rest in Peace sweet man. So glad I got to meet you and have a photo and ab autograhed photo. Something about this song always gives me chills. It has that British Invasion bounciness but is very dark at the same time. So sad that the keyboard player passed away 2 weeks before being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, even though they were supposed to be inducted the year before but Grandmaster Flash got the honor instead...wtf?

I think I read at the time that one of their early hits made them the first British group to hit number one on the British pop charts during the Beatles early run at the top.
My second favorite British invasion group. The Beatles being the first. I was never a Rolling Stones fan. These guys gave The Beatles a run for their money. They had 14 albums in North America in Canada they were on Capitol Records and the States were Epic Records. In England they only had 6 albums because the British only released 1 album a year were as the Americans were 2 to 3 albums a year. They were a great band and had allot of hits between 1963 to 1968.
Sweet sounds from a sweet time in my life. Loved this song the minute I heard it and still do. The Dave Clark Five were a wonderful group of young men with style, class and manners.
