It Seams to me that Obama picked Biden because he has no strong constitution and wahtever Obama says to do or does then he will back him up. Obama's integrity is questioned constantly, because he's different and young. He had to earn the respect of all his non-black supporters (unlike Mccain), and choosing Hillary after all she said would damage his integrity, especially among independents. He took it easy on her because he wanted that ticket (obviously more than she did). He would've gotten some women, but lost many educated people. And countless snippets from Hillary would hurt him.
