  • Nice man. Great form, strength, and flexibility.

  • That's great!! Especially compared to your bodyweight.

  • Do you have a "squatters ass" yet? I really want one. but my glutes never seem to get sore or grow :(

  • @StormJB1

Bret Contreras showed that squats actually get very little glute activation. He did note that external rotation activates a part of the glutes, however, so consider rotating your thighs more. Also, try out the hip thrusts he does.

  • Walter - Y U SO STRONG?

  • Very impressive technique, about half way past parallel. Some mighty flexible hamstrings you have there.

  • FML thats beast

  • With a 2.25xBW squat, you have earned bragging rights.

  • very nice form!

  • your feet are too far apart. that is why you cannot go deep on the squat. try squatting with the heels of your feet no more than 8 inches apart.

  • @mycrx89 how do you know he's not 6 foot 3? does 8 inches still apply to 6 foot 3-ers? probably not

  • @raajue3 - Well, I am 6'1". So i believe that he can do it also.

  • nice most squats look like good mornings. he do you keep your so vertical? when you hip drive out the hole, do you raise your chest at same rate as you raise you r hips then hips forward? what do you do?

  • Did he just squat 2,25BW for reps?

  • @Cornampoo yup 2.25xBW according to what he says...very strong man

  • Your stance is way too wide. This isn't oly squat. Put your feet way closer. This is some kind of hybrid between powerlifting/bodybuilding sumo barerly parallel good mornings and oly squat.

But it's definitely full squat. I hope all those gym retards who repping 405 with 2' movement has been watching this video. None of them can do this even with 135 pounds.

  • @m5p944

    ...sumo?

  • You dont know what yoru talking about. Most people NEED to use a wide stance to avoid hip impingement and allow a more vertical back angle. The only people who can do narrow stance olympic squats, are those with excellent mobility in their hip joints and short legs/long torso/excellent ankle mobility.

The same issues apply for front squats/recovery of a clean. Wide stance is a stronger position allowing vertical back, use of more muscle mass, more stability, faster drop-under etc..

    @m5p944

  • Funny that a guy that looks like he squats 150 lbs takes that much.

  • Nice lifting for that bodyweight.

  • @TonganMammoth good comment

  • i know you probably intentionally stopped short, but there was still some depth to be covered there.

  • The squat is the king of lifts...

  • This is an olympic squat because it is high bar and his back is more vertical compared to a powerlifting squat, which is low bar and the back is more parallel.

Olympic squats are a lot harder than powerlifting squats.

  • Squats are not in the olympics...... so how is that an olympic squat?

  • @ufcroblax are you serious!? squat technique is the basis for all olympic weightlifting movements. thats how a squat is in the olympics!!!!

  • @ufcroblax wow, you're an idiot

  • what is all that noise in the background ....

  • u look really small, what is u weight

  • @hackingtime88 about 80kg

  • 176lbs, are you eating above maintenance calories and getting alot of protein?

  • Solid technique - good stuff.

  • If bigvthe123 is 265lbs and is squatts 405 it's good but not that great, plus most kids i have seen only go 90 degree which is not good form.

  • a good squat is 2-2.5 times ur body weight.

  • I weigh 157 and I squat around 275 as a max, but i do partials with 225 and I don't like when people critisize me when I do them at the gym. I'm gonna start going to practice ROM.

  • What makes it an olympic squat?

  • i can go parallel with 184kg for one rep and im 15

  • parallel is only half ways

  • not where im from

  • where you're from is where the uneducated kids are.

  • judging by your channel comments you are uneducated and start fights over youtube a lot.....

  • LoLuMaDaNdDoNtKnOwAnYtHiNgAbOuTsQuAtZ?

  • I can squat 1000 pounds and im 13.

  • your hilarious

  • Yeah bragging on youtube with no proof videos is hilarious too.

  • i weigh 265 pounds saying i can squat 405 is not bragging at all. its not impressive at all.

  • im really sick of this. 'the average person should be able to squat 800 times there bodywight' 'unless you can squat 900 lbs you are considered of average strength' blah blah fuckin blah of course 405 is an impressive squat stop fishing for complements/

  • im not fishing for complements in my high school i get made fun of by seniors for not being able to squat more

  • sorry i didnt realise that your school was ipf headquarters. my bad.

  • i dont know what ipf is but i can tell your trying to be an asshole. why?

  • ipf - international powerlifting federation.

im not trying to be an asshole, but to suggest that in your school seniors squat 405lbs all the time is just ludicrous. you know damn well that 405 is way beyond averge male strength, people work damn hard to get a 405 squat amd to say it isnt immpresive at all is crap. for an average guy who doesnt participate in serious sport, and 405 squat is pretty damn impressive. it wont cut much ice with pro football players, but most guys arent.

  • every varsity lineman in my school be that only 5 people squat more than 405. last year we had a senior who squatted 625 but he weighed 300

  • No you can't.

  • You do not understand a joke/sarcasm do you.

  • Ehhhhhh! nope!

  • WHOA! Walter is amazing! That was a clinic on squatting. No knee wraps, no lifting aids...raw and feet close. Awesome!

  • Everyone saying why did you drop the weight is retarded. I doubt very few of you know how bad your legs hurt after that even just to walk it back up. Plus if anyone of you actually knew what you were talking about you would now that those type of plates are meant to be dropped. Plus dropping the weight makes you feel like a man. Anyway your a beast with great form, keep it up

  • haha, i love that last reason

  • pretty awesome man. your a tank

  • i dont understand why oly lifters seem to do that alot, they unrack the weight, squat or front squat, and instead of stepping foward 2 inches and re racking, they drop the weight. whats the point? but good squattin

  • he might have been doing pulls right after that...

  • Strong squatting, but I also agree with you. It is not hard to walk the weight in, it is much more trouble to unload all the weight and put it back up. But maybe he just do it for his last set?

  • very nice :D

  • No worries

  • There is a lot of weight dropping in Oly weightlifting, so maybe you should go look at some bodybuilders instead.

  • It was my last set, plus I was using bumper plates, they are made to be dropped. Nothing wrong with dropping the weights.

As for the thin comment, I don't know what you're trying to say. The belt (which is hard to see) definately makes me look thin. Or if you're commenting that I don't look big as in "built," well that's because I'm not trying to get big, I'm not a BBer

  • dude that was brilliant, much respect.

180kg and deep....fuck thats strong, i can only do 120kg and struggle to get the legs anywhere near parallel.

ur body frame must be perfect for the squats.

i wud drop the weight too, fuck walkin bac to the rack after that!!

  • @WeightliftingWalter

True enough. Being ready to dropping weight is an important psychological part of lifting. It allows a lifter to commit in ways he or she hadn't because they know that abandoning the heavy lift is acceptable. It allows for lifts to closer to true failure, if that is a goal for the set. I gets a lifter in better positions, because a portion of the technique isn't reserved for only protecting the bar or weight from falling.

  • Very good! Why do you throw the weight at the floor when you are finished?

  • Went pretty wide there, and still great depth. Solid.

  • nice

  • You use a wider stance than I expected but the results speak for themselves
