  • 1 outta 99 Americans are in jail, many get to spend ENTIRE LIFETIMES in prison for crimes other countries would not even consider criminal offenses!!

I find it hard to believe that in a so called democracy where everyone is equal, a black man would get 6 or 7 years in prison for DWI but multimillionare paris hilton gets 2 weeks for the same offense! Americans are sent to prison far more than any other nationality on this planet!!! the US is looking more and more like a giant prison camp

  • every day that goes by i hate the usa more and more there worse than nazi germany i dont think the world would even be in a worse state if they won ww2

  • this is great........gotta love it...I am a prison consultant...I have 30 years in the US prison system with 22 years served I was the first to beat Wa State's three strikes.

  • Land of the free, my ass.

  • All you have to do to see the real state of the war on drugs in click on the video above you, this should be sent to every american home, wow!! if that doesn't show how fucked up we are nothing will!!!!!!

  • he forgot the big reason is the corporate own and operated prison who make a whoping profit of almost forty thousand out of the eighty eight thousand overall charged per immate, its listed on the stock exchange and traded as a commondity

  • Criminal Justice degree here, spent a lot of time studying this stuff. Social deviance theory, and social control theory apply. The USA has been enslaving people since its inception. The poor are expected to commit crime in order to meet middle class standards, while the rich make the laws to prevent the poor from ever being able to achieve equality.

The Police force in this country are basically "gangsters" for people in power, no one was sent to prison for the massive wall st fraud, mafia.

  • What TV program is it from?

  • Something must be done. The Prison Industrial Complex is real and it's sick. We also have more children in prison than any other place in the world. Do the research and come to your own understanding on this issue. You will be disgusted. Especially at the high number of people serving life in prison. We must end this way of living.

  • @mrbountiful What about smoking weed? Is that so bad? There is nothing morally wrong about smoking weed, people that smoke weed see this and they don't give a shit about what some 75 year old law that has been a complete failure. 50% of the prison population in America is WEED SMOKERS.

  • @fuunguus ... it doesn't matter if one person breaks the law, or the whole god damn population breaks the law. IT IS A LAW! If you want the laws changed do it the right way, get involved and have it over turned. It's like committing murder and saying "oh hell ... 200 million people have been killed in the name of morality and religion ... I only took one life it's Ok." ... You are a sheep, and a follower. Stop being a stoner and a dumb ass the two don't mix very well.

  • @mrbountiful Tell me, what the fuck is wrong about smoking weed. You can't compare it to murder, it's a non violent crime for christ sake!

  • This is because America is the most prohibitive country in the whole world. You can't do this and you can't do that. The greatest country in the world, still. Go figure!

  • and it's because we are so hardcore. It's why nobody comes after us. If things get to ugly we'll just turn our prison population loose on you.

  • @mrbountiful "Why nobody comes after us"? What about all the terrorists?

  • holy crap this video just exploded.

it seems that americans are finally tired of being caged like animals for minor nonviolent "crimes" while the mass murdering lunatics who run the country get away with anything they want.

at what point do we realize that this system which is supposed to "protect" us poses a far greater threat to our safety and well being than some rag tag criminals ever could?!

  • You must have an extensive criminal record ... You see how lawlessness works over in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq right? If you don't like it here, pick up and get the hell out. Otherwise follow the rules ... all of them not just the ones you pick and choose to follow ... and you'll have safety and security provided for you.

  • @mrbountiful None of the places you speak of are lawless what so ever. If anything their laws are barbaric and uncivilized. Second, I guess that's we should have done before we rebelled against the king who was trying to run shit here. Pick up and leave like a pack of bitches right? I'm a law abiding citizen, but if you don't see how this is wrong, there is none that can change your way of thinking. Now, you're an idiot. Why? because you have been informed, you are no longer ignorant,

  • @yourtuber8541 ... You're kidding right. You'd like to compare pot smoking and someones desire to sell illegal drugs to persecution, murder, rape, over taxing. I may be "ignorant" by your standards but you're plain fucking stupid under mine, has got to be those drugs you're selling/taking because God damn ... the last time I saw something this bad was the one time I watched Idiocracy (you should watch it ... your life story on the small screen).

  • @yourtuber8541 ... continuing ... there is nothing wrong with someone having a consequence for a bad decision. In fact it is the only thing wrong with our country right now. If people would have consequences for their actions we'd be much better off ... and if by the 3 fucking time you haven't learned your lesson ... guess what ... YOU NEVER WILL!!! So yes if you were stupid enough to know the three strike rule and yet still commit those three strikes ... shut the fuck up and enjoy your stay.

  • @mrbountiful Laws don't make us safer. They just make more of us susceptible to being caged.

  • @junior00bacon00chee Looks like between us weve got over 200,000 views! Good schizzle my nizzile. When did the view count explode?

  • @NicosMind

yeah i know it's crazy! it happened sometime last week, it think it got bumped up on reddit.

  • @junior00bacon00chee Yeah every so often sites like that will get a video and yeah get a hugh spike. Must admit i havent had a spike as big as yours. Youget on a site like that and then it hits other site and facebook etc and spikes it up even more. Have you seen my video on predicting the wars? Its good. watch?v=v0jXFjaBbH0

You should link your popular videos to other vids to promote. I do it with nearly all of mine :)

  • @NicosMind

yeah i've never done the promotion thing i need to figure that out.

and i'll def check the vid out!

  • @junior00bacon00chee Dude i know you used to like(or at least make) videos about police oppression. This vid mentions a couple of crazy reports. Police being sent to collect overdue books from a 5 year old and police wrestling a 70 year old lady to the ground to failing to maintaine her lawn with accordance to city standards! So shocking you would think its satire, but sadly it aint :( watch?v=zKkFoSt6aKQ

  • It disturbs me that many of our prisons are now private sector. They lobby congress and state legislatures for many of these over the top laws, because prisoner populations translate to money for the corporation. Also, all that prison labor is competing with the American workers. If those jobs had been available on the outside, perhaps some of these people would have been employed and not have been pushed into crime to support themselves and/or their families.

  • I fucking love Jimmy Carr :)

  • @Diutiful lmfao

  • @Diutiful brilliant!! thats earned you a sub and be riendin ;)

  • What?! "Reinvented the slave trade" I must say prison is more like lawful indentured servitude then slavery not to mention American prisons are pretty luxurious compared to other countries. Probably why so many who are released just end up going back

  • @JetFireMoc ...oh rigght. you speak from experience do you?

  • @zezt Well you don't need experience to know the difference between slavery and indenture. Same goes for when comparing one countries prison system to another i.e.(American prison vs India prison) Then plenty of statements as to why some prisoners do decide to get reincarnated don't need experience to make a more correct statement or opinion.

  • @JetFireMoc "reincarnated"...??

  • @zezt opps sorry reincarcerated

  • @JetFireMoc the truth is man it is TERRIBLE and doesn't only affect those locked up in those fukin hellholes but all the communities included ALL communities. But the ones getting the SWAT teams in the face will suffer it most

  • bu....bu...but..but ITS GOOD FOR ECONOMY !

  • Exactly. I'd like to say something funny too but something MUST be done. This isn't an issue for just citizens of the United States, this is an issue that should be important to the world. The actions here are spreading elsewhere and we need international solidarity if we want to stop it.

  • Someone should probably tell them that working prisoners have the option to enter programs that do labor. Its fine if theyre locked in a room for 20 hours per day but when they actually do something productive all of the sudden this is slavery? Haha

  • @cmanclan101 When you put a larger percentage of your population behind bars than China you have to think there could be a problem. When you consider that the total number imprisoned in the United States is more than DOUBLE that of China, Russia, and India, I think it raises more questions. I don't think putting your prisoners to work is inherently the problem they were discussing, I think it's the shear volume of people IN prison here and how they got there that concerned them.

  • @EndrWiggin

i completely agree. and not to be that guy but when you look at some statistics, 99% of prison population live on below average wages, dont graduate from college, and have never had a steady job or family life. the color of their skin isnt as important as the fact that they are uneducated, however the black and latin groups have a huge problem with this. fun fact: there are more 18 year old black men in prison than in school.

  • Black people commit an inordinate amount of crime in my community. Do they also in yours? This shouldn't surprise anyone.

  • @BAXTSPRCHRGD point is if they can't pick up on the idiocy of that statement, how can you believe the rest?

  • @tovanir these are stats about the US. There are not more 17 year old black males in jail than in high school in the United States. Maybe there should be a report on the incidence of misinterpreted statistics in the UK. Remind me of who the moron is, please.

  • @jamesnih7 he said college, not highschool

  • @jamesnih7 I can't get you data on 17 year olds in high school but I can offer you data on 18-24 year old black demographics between education and incarceration. I believe Stephen Fry's claims are exaggerated but not without some eye opening. The total number of 18 to 24 year old black men in college in the US is about 585,000 versus the total number of incarcerated which was about 196,000. That's not nearly on par with his statement, but it's still an incredibly large number.

  • is the new fullscreen only in my firefox? wtf

  • @protectaa yah got the same problem, pretty annoying

  • @fwee79 weird thing is other videos dont have it, atleast from what ive seen

  • Why would a 17 year old person be in college? Moronic statistics.

  • @jamesnih7 there are people who graduate early to get ahead.

  • @jamesnih7 Completely missed the point on that one didn't you.

  • @jamesnih7 Don't have a birthday in december then?

  • @jamesnih7 same can be said for 17 year olds in jail

  • @jamesnih7 In the UK college = last two years of high school. Our college in their university. You are the moron. The circle of life continues.

  • @jamesnih7 Because some people are born after September....

  • I wouldnt really call it slavery if the country pays an extraordinary amount to put someone in jail... I mean if money stopped being put into keeping people behind bards and into young children, you'd have smarter kids who excel at something and are therefore less likely to comit crime.

  • @HockeyDiane It would be true, if the prison were ran by the government. With private prison, they now get paid twice.

  • this is fucking disturbing. canada is headed this way, as well.....

  • Well, there goes any pride in America I once had :/

  • @Bif33 you never had any to began with.

  • Well...That was a downer.

  • Meanwhile in England "You stole bread? Off to Australia with you!"

  • so that's probably why they don't want pot legal. It's easy jail time

  • If you don't like 'merica, then you can giiiiiiiiiiiit out!

  • I'm glad my parents raised me to respect the law.

  • "G" for Gail...

  • @TurquoiseOctopus Its spelled 'gaol', and it is also the proper way.

  • @SKiiSMLIVE Your kidding right?.....

  • @pwstokes225 Same to you....your kidding right?

  • Those work programs are volunteer programs. (eg you don't get solitary for not working) Fry is not known for being accurate and genuine.

  • the reason #56 why i never ever visit in america

  • @landialiha Reason #57: Offended American Youtuber threatens to punch you in the face.

  • @tovanir admit it your country is fucking crazy!

  • @landialiha its not just his country other countries have followed the so called war on drugs and victimized their own people, its about money and profit banks prisons corporations people just have to wake up!

  • @landialiha I'll admit it. What's your country? Oh and you're welcome for the internet.

  • @tovanir i'm mixed european, oh and you're welcome for everything else ;D and thanks for the false flag bs wars and all that

  • sorry but half the statistics they have and say are BS. if they are making products, GOOD, because they cost taxpayers too much damn money

  • interesting them mentioning other countries with poor transparency

  • I always funny that the country involved in some of the worst more atrocities ever. The jailing system is fucked in this country, and I'm not disagreeing but didn't britain JUST jail someone for just having a shitty opinion?

  • Most are in for non-violent offenses, like pot. The killers, and rapists can rot for all I care, make those license plates.

  • @eliteblast That's false. At least not for smoking it.

  • lul america

  • more 17 year olds in jail than college. I wonder why 17 year olds arent in college. Oh wait.

  • @tylerpnn "College" can refer to high school in the U.K.

  • Yup. America is fucked. I'm so glad I don't live there.

  • @iiiiiiRYiiiiii British jokes about baseball aside, the jail system really isn't that bad. Sure there's some absurd cases of stealing chocolate chip cookies and such, but if you follow the law nothing will happen to you. I don't see how imprisoning criminals is a bad thing, what are we supposed to do, just let criminals roam the streets because there are "too many" of them?

  • @MAXPWNAGE00001 like jim cary says "quite breaking the law ASSHOLE!!!!!!!"

  • Why should triple offenders be let out again? They knew the consequences the SECOND time and still did it an were still given another chance. After that you better be straight as an arrow! But of course those idiots go and break another law (for stupid reasons usually). I think anyone who commits 3 crimes doesn't need to be on the streets.

  • @IIIlllIIllllIIlll or they might have a addiction problem

  • @487shawn And if they have an addiction problem then there are many successful rehab programs for those people that they have most likely been through with failure. An usually not because of the program, as with sufficient commitment any addict can become clean.

  • cure hipster faggotry: MANHOOD101. COM

  • America, Fuck yeah!

  • Fuck America - from an American

  • When i click full screen the video stays in the browser. Does anyone know how to make that happen for all the videos?

  • THIS JUST IN : PEOPLE LOVE MONEY !

  • whats this? hidden GDP gold mine? not bad thinking America, not bad... but F on human rights.

  • Private prison corporations are the ones who are keeping this cycle going. The massive prison population leads to loads of cash, which leads to political influence, which keeps harsh sentencing laws in place, which creates more prisoners. About half of the entire prison population is in there on drug charges.

  • The USA sucks hilariously huge donkey balls.

  • @SirAlfredSourcock says the american

  • +1 reddit

  • PRISON INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!

  • Prisons are not meant to rehabilitate inmates rather perpetuate the criminal lifestyle until they are free. Then putting them back in their poverty riddled community which led them to criminal behaviors so they could be back in jail to continue the circle.

  • @m33kr0b3r males! That is how you spell it! Plus College is a english term for High-School (or the last 2 years of High-school!)

  • Comment removed

  • I'd think the Brits would understand common law. They don't seem to understand that law differs by state.

  • @depending on the occasion, worse

  • The Land of the Free indeed

  • In the UK college = highschool.

  • @cfsharp23 Not entirely. 'High School' is still 'High School' But College is the interim between Secondary School and University :) but IS the equivalent of the highest Grades of High School. However, the learning syllabus is the level of lower year US College (uni)

  • I wonder if Stephen has ever had the almost imponderable joy of watching Charlieissocoollike?

  • Has anyone here fact checked this? Or are we just assuming some sort of game show or whatever is correct? O__o

  • @FutureXGeneration 'QI' is a show that uses comedy to bring attention to amazing facts. Factual correctness is the whole premise of the show. Its research department is highly regarded and their website has links to varification of all facts presented. If these numbers are news to you perhaps you should ask why this is not common knowledge in the US and why as a US citizen you had to find out through an english game show.

  • @aldridge1 I mean, if you can pull up the sources that this game show uses to verify it's facts and put them here for everyone to see, I'm more than open minded and glad enough to read it. As far as sources I know are concerned, this show has been known to be faulty in its knowledge of fields or facts on multiple occasions. I'm not convinced.

  • So this is the only place you have heard these stats? I have heard similar numbers from many sources. So if I will not put links to these studies you will assume they are wrong? Go and look this stuff up yourself. It is common knowledge that the US jails more of its population than any other developed country and even more than china and that its jails are private and for profit. Ask yourself why this is common knowledge outside the US. 'land of the free' ay?

  • I like how many things in the description is ignorant bullshit, apparently thousands of people arent aware we have states that make and enforce laws?

  • The cognitive dissonance of Americans on this subject is amazing too. And even with a larger portion of the population locked up than anyone else, Americans still live in perpetual terror of criminals.

Everyone makes jokes about Australians all being descending from convicts or whatnot, but we Americans actually are all convicts now. And it's about the only thing we're #1 at anymore.

  • @m33k0b3r I was 17 when I started college / university (they are synonyms in the US)

  • @m33kr0b3r bro, we are in england, college does not mean the same as you do. college in england is before University (US College)

  • USA ! USA! USA! At least we are taking the lead on something right!

  • Comment removed

  • That guy isnt funny

  • I think by the "more 17 year olds in gaol than college" he means there are more 17 year olds in prison than there are black males in total (any age etc) at college. That makes it worse.

  • @jon2johnny And by "college" I mean US college meaning.

  • I love how when this video gets linked on reddit, everyone comes in and bashes the idiotic comments into oblivion.

    <3 you guys.

  • @SuperGauntlet I love how when this video gets linked on reddit, all the condescending, self-important, 22-year-old redditor cunts come in and make pointless comments like yours.

    I LUV U GAIZE LOLOL <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • Well The western world has more Laws where as alot of these other countries with lower prison rates dont have nearly as many laws or enforcement of laws.

  • Hes a comedian and its on the internet therefore it must be true!

  • funny or not, American prison labor is pretty much same as slavery. You got people in chains, working for nothing under Masters and guards. And there are way more people in prison than there ever were slaves in America. And we can't forget the fact that American prison system is privatized - for profit prisons.

  • Because in the UK college = High School.

  • i think i agree with making prisoners work, however, i don't agree with jailing up people for such trivial crimes like minor possession and things like that.

  • god damn I hate British people. The point they're making is correct and alarming, however they do it in the most annoying, smug and pedantic way possible (ie: British).

  • @krophiquon Well done sir. You've just made a sweeping statement about an entire nation. Not only is your comment ignorant, it's baseless, as it's a group of comedians. Smug and pedantic is the game they play.

  • @krophiquon It's called 'Comedy'...

  • @krophiquon It's a fucking comedy show you idiot. Do you really take this seriously?

  • "There are more 17 year old black mails in jail than in college" no shit they are 17 why would they be in college

  • @m33kr0b3r Education in the UK surpasses the American model is my first thought.

  • @m33kr0b3r You spelled black male wrong you fucking moron.

  • @m33kr0b3r He didn't say '17 year old black males in college'

  • @m33kr0b3r I guess people just don't like sending mail to colleges. Mailmen these days love prison.

  • Comment removed

  • @m33kr0b3r Because 17 is the first year you start College? you leave Secondary school at 16 and go into college or sixth form at 17

  • @ErikTheOnlyCleric In the United States you don't generally go to college until you're 18 -- 17 is considered early

  • @m33kr0b3r You misunderstand by the age of 17 most Europeans are going into college, in fact about half of home schooled American children are also attending college at the age of 17.

  • @m33kr0b3r

UK College = US High School.

    UK University = US College

  • @tovanir To the top with you!

  • @tovanir actually, in the UK, Secondary School = High school

College is like the high school senior years. (Brit with many American friends)

  • @Hologrampker Good to know. Thanks.

  • @m33kr0b3r The English call the last two years of high school "college."

  • @m33kr0b3r I didn't know that "mails" could go to school.

  • @m33kr0b3r in europe college = (american) highschool

    university = (american) college

  • @m33kr0b3r

Because they never failed a year of school & have their birthday after the start of the academic year... is that sooo difficult?

  • @m33kr0b3r

He's talking about College, not university.

  • @m33kr0b3r in the UK college is 16-18

  • @m33kr0b3r fucking retard. Firstly it's MALE not MAIL. Secondly college is year 7- year 12... you're thinking of the American college which is in fact UNIVERSITY.

  • @k0tz45 I doubt that that's true, seeing as at 17 you're still legally bound to be in school.

  • @m33kr0b3r In the UK you can go to college at 16 so I guess that's why the comparison was made. I guess they probably mean college as the equivalent of the last 2 grades of high school.

  • @m33kr0b3r In the UK College is frequently used to mean High School.

  • @m33kr0b3r I finished my first semester at university before I was 18.

  • @m33kr0b3r In the UK, you are 17 when you're in what we call college. Chill out bell end.

  • @m33kr0b3r I started college at 17.
