  • I so LOVED THIS VIDEO. This is the stuff I love to watch. And Ruth is a fantastic musician. Thanks for posting.

  • whenever I listen to his peers talk about his genius, like Ruth here, I totally get choked up. When Ruth played "that definitive zappa sound," I got chills.

  • i'm just now getting into Zappa... and the more i learn, the more i realize i was born a generation too late....

  • inorite?

  • that is my sentiment exactly...

  • @bronlokis I feel your pain, brah. ....However, it's never too late to enjoy great music. The problem is, who ya gonna find to enjoy it with you? That's the problem. Know what I mean?

  • @bronlokis You have nothing to fear, my friend. Zappa was born a few generations too early. We're still ahead of the curve.

  • @bronlokis

it's never too late.. the only sad thing is that you won't see him on stage, but, on the other hand, you ve Dweezil playing ZPZ...

  • @bronlokis Nope, you weren't. You can now carry the torch to keep Fran's music alive :)

  • wow thank you ruth for letting me in on that 2 chord idea

  • The melody is from The Idiot Bastard Son.

  • Seriously; you found this dull!?!

  • hey that's a great video... has anyone transcribed that melody?? on the video i can see only the 2 first pages but the third is not shown :(

  • gimme a call. i can send it to you

  • How can I get in touch with you regarding the transcription of Rollo Interior? Thanks.

  • this is great, where is it taken from? And what exactly does she mean by losing the third down to a second? Is it for instance taking off the E of a C major triad and adding a D as the bass note? I'm not sure i get it...

  • Well, you're almost there... You just replace the E from a C Major triad with a D. And the bass note still holds the root note of the chord. Don't know if I explained that too well, but hope it helps you anyway.

  • hm, simpler than i thought. Thanks man!

  • isn't it just a sus2??

  • Yeah. I find it pretty interesting that Frank found those intervals so fascinating. Steve Reich seems to have the same idea too. I guess it puts you in a position harmonically where your not sure whether its major or minor, allowing you to write more fluid melody lines...

  • It's pretty much the same as G chord (with a suspended 4th) in second inversion.

  • She is a legend

  • It don't get any better than this!! Ruth, your the best.....thanks for the good "vibes"!!

  • Excellent!

Great to see Ruth has so many fans.

    Thanks again B.

  • Ruth is the best!

  • This is genius. This is why Zappa and all of his players are light years beyond anyone else.

  • This is what sets Zappa apart from all that other crap you hear on commercial radio. Practically all of Frank's material was scored with the possible exception of his solos. Every member of the band was literate. Ruth provided a fascinating glimpse into the "signature" Zappa sound.

  • I couldn't agree more

  • ruth..you are the queen of percussion...

  • That was awesome! THANK YOU for posting these clips!

  • please please ... one more !!

  • totally killer man....frank is my hero...ruth, i love you
