I've heard the smart car has some mechanical issues....some reviews I've read said they've had problems within the first day of owning one. Anyone know anything about it's reliability?
@passipassi100 Hey that's great I turned 18 about 20 days ago and I got my Smart fortwo about 2 days ago and I must say it's awesome and about the jerking that is also very rare cause I didn't fell more motion in it then I did in a regular car.
@passipassi100 It's alright I mean the way the world goes you can expect the Samrt fortwo to produce a long time I also installed GPS in it it works like a singer,I plan to make a road trip with it so the gasoline is my least problem :))
@passipassi100 Well I don't know which model you want but if you want a Smart fortwo pure it's about 10099 $,Smart fortwo Passion coupe about 14000 $(thats the one I have but with all my upgrades and optionals it's 16200 $) or the Smart fortwo Passion Cabriolet which has a base price of 17000 $ you can see on their homepage the technical specs that might tell you why they have such prices and thanks I will have a lot of fun and the car is really fun to drive you will love it.
Had my coupe Fortwo for 2 years now and it's my only car and does fine. Once the car has bedded in the gear change is fine. In the UK we have a different gearbox to the american one. I love my 451 Smart so much then I am getting another one next year when my lease for this one finishes :D
-the 4k difference includes a premium soundsystem with tweeters and subs, fog lights standard, those pods on dash standard, comfort package (seat warming, power steering, leather) standard, alarm system standard...
-You could've mentioned the safety (IIHS is BS, take the european crash testing as truth, they're better researched and have far more accurate testing)
Other than that, great review! You should research a little more on them, they are amazing little cars.

-Actually the engine is under the rear storage compartment.
-You could take off the side rails on the cabin...
-After 6,000 miles (the break-in period) shifts will be VERY smooth and also if you treat it like a manual and lift your foot when it shifts.
