Japan is notorious for fixed-matches and Mafia involvement in sports. The last one being what (nearly) killed MMA in Japan, unfortunately. Also lol at the corruption being a western value comment. Whoever wrote that for the narrator needs to get his ignorant head out of his ass.
yeah i hear sumo is corrupt like hell (stats dont lie) , even has connection to yakuza and two guys who stood up against whole thing died under mysterious circumstances . Then again , bunch of fat bastards hugging each other is kinda gay .
Why do journalists make everything worse than it is?
There was that one time where Robbie Williams didn't shaved himself in the morning, stood on his veranda and yawned.
The next day the news-papers said something about him having had an excessive night full of alcohol, the photo (unshaved with a "painful expression", the yawn ) again.
However, the sumo world does have scandals, like the Asashōryū one.
But people shouldn't blame this on japan, they should blame the corrupted sumo-association.
A very badly executed documentary, bordering on grossly misleading and unprofessional. I love the bit around 10.30 where they desperately try to make out there's something more sinister, by saying they were moved on for filming outside, when clearly the passing policeman is just randomly clearing the entrance way and shows no specific interest in removing the camera. How can networks pass such shameful journalism? Only ignorant editors needing a STORY, banking on the audiences lack of knowledge.
I kind of agree. I think journeyman is really great at providing excellent videos with small but regular dose of western misunderstandings, generalizations, and incorrect information
I personally love Sumo Wrestling, because of it's simple rules and layout. I feel like it is one of the purest forms of strength battles that exist today.
subs aren't your thing are they huh?

It's quite ignorant to think that in this day and age, a sport as big as sumo wrestling (pardon the pun) would be completley non-corrupt.
Tis a shame, but hardly worth shooting yourself over.

The fact is, no one wants to watch fat guys in bikinis slapping and pushing each other around. It's really disgusting and gay.

Sumo is a pushing contest, when someone who actually Can wrestle comes to sumo, he immediately becomes the champion.
