  • I thought we were freethinkers. Or does that encompass atheists and agnostics?

  • You say that the only evil comes from ourselves, and yet atheism is a worship of self! This is so contradictory. You have to worship something. Everyone lives for something, which is the thing you worship. If you uphold that there is no God, the only thing left to worship is humanity. Of all the statements you could have made, this was the most fatal. You CANNOT (logically) hold that evil comes from man, while worshiping man, unless you consciously worship evil. THAT is the problem with atheism.

  • @undeadretard7 If you're going to change the definition of words then say we do what your new definition is under the old context, we can't have a conversation.

    Strawman arguments are non-sequitors.

  • @undeadretard7

Atheism isn't a worship of self; are you a dumbass—there's no worshiping of anything, because nothing is divine.

Living for something doesn't mean you worship it. Are you retarded? You must be.

There is NO SUCH THING AS GOOD or EVIL; there is only the perception of actions in a particular time/place/social construct—some rules and so on go way way way back, but many have changed over time: See Slavery (once ok even by religion but today...not so much)

  • athiesm is very sad. You athiests dont believe in God because your sins are holding you in slavery to satan. Your sins are stopping you from feeling God or even finding it in your heart to pray to him. The reason you athiests cant feel God is because you love your sins. if YOU STOP LOVING YOUR SINS FOR one second JESUS will come to you and you will feel his power

  • @tovarishvlad Hello there! I'm suuuper intrested in what kind of sins you think i'm up to. I've been an atheist my intire life.

  • @tovarishvlad It's sad that you need motivation to be nice. Otherwise, you'd go to hell, rite?

  • @tovarishvlad you're feeling your own superego.

  • The Egyptians revered cats because they could see in the dark, which they exaggerated as "seeing into the Underworld". Thanks to Science, we now know it's simply a matter of evolved superiority of their wider irises and extra light receptors. So of course there is more going on around us that we as Homo sapiens cannot (yet) perceive - although many other sensory-developed species can. One man's Spirituality is another man's extra sensory perception, which isn't necessarily supernatural at all.

  • i hate reading long comments so i will keep mine short.

religion is holding yourself back for something that probably isnt there

  • if u want to die and go to a Firey hell that on u but if u want to love Jesus read John 3:16 i will be gone when he comes back and i wish u would be

  • I'm truly impressed to find someone with such a sound and clear mind. I thought such humans were on extinction!

  • I don't believe getting rid of religion will make the world a better place. First of all, it would be impossible to make every single individual believe in Atheism. Religion is not always the motive for war; it's a cover up to gain supporters (Crusades, WWII, etc.). Her idea of a perfect world where everyone is unified would be pretty boring. Face it, if no epic fighting happened we'd die early from nothing interesting going on. Everyone having the same beliefs I know would kill ME in the end.

  • @MFLuder77 The absence of religion, and unification through reason and atheism, need not necessarily lead to monotonous loss of individuality. Abandoning ones religion does not strip a person or a society of its culture, ethnicity, or their personalities.

  • Atheists I come across are hypocrites and sarcastic. They think science and people can test and know everything. Explains why atheist communist societies always fall apart and result in tragedy. Look at this woman. She has tatoos and died black hair. She probably used to worship satan or something. Who knows these atheist's pasts.

  • @TYLERJB777 Atheists are people who don't believe in a god. That's all. Yes, we may criticize views of Christianity (or whatever the major religion is in your area, but typically in the west it's Christianity). But don't Christians also criticize us for not believing what they believe. And don't even bring politics into this. Crusades, Inquisition, Salem Witch trials, KKK, the Holocaust, 9/11. All of these tragedies were done in the name of religion. And what's wrong with black hair and

  • @hockeyfan7125 Holcaust and KKK is not due to religion. Hitler was responsible for the holocaust and he was an atheist. The KKK was because they hated black people. All your other examples are small events, and not a direct cause of religion. Tatoos are condemned in the old testament. Dying your hair is stupid since your just filling it with toxic chemicals.

  • @TYLERJB777 Hitler was actually Catholic. And the Holocaust had nothing to do with religion? You better read some WWII memoirs. And the KKK mostly focused their attention on blacks, but they also terrorized Jews, Catholics, and immigrants, using the Bible to back up their actions. You still didn't prove your point on how having dyed hair makes you a satanist.

  • @hockeyfan7125 Hitler was raised catholic but rejected it strongly. Holocaust dealt with Hitler thinking Jews were inferior and didn't deserve to live. Jesus and several disciples were jewish so If Hitler was a catholic his motive would not be Christianity obviously. Dyed hair makes you foolish but not necessarily a satanist. Hair dye has several toxic chemicals in them. Even the natural kinds you can buy.

  • @TYLERJB777 Bu even when you reject a religion, some of the cultures stay with you. At the time, even the Pope condemned the Jews for their way of life. I'm not saying that Catholics were responsible, but religion and tensions between religions can cause tensions and violence and atrocities such as he Holocaust.

  • @TYLERJB777 Hitler was not an atheist. Every member of the Nazi army wore a belt buckel with the words GOTT MIT UNS stamped into it. (This means-god is on our side.)

  • @TYLERJB777 tattoos? I grew up Christian, so I know my Bible. Last I checked, Jesus said nothing about dyed hair or tattoos.

  • @TYLERJB777 "Look at this woman. She has tatoos and died black hair. She probably used to worship satan or something. Who knows these atheist's pasts."

I read that a few times just in case but no, you're actually judging a complete stranger on their looks and personal beliefs. Well played! Not only is that very un-Christian of you but very hypocritical. And it further hightlights one of the things that is wrong with religion!

  • @Linkacious1 You're such a liberal i'm gonna judge you by your ignorance ok here i go. You're probably some corrupted public schooler that was taught to love everyone because heaven forbid someone hating you is the last thing you want you are afraid of judging others cause they might judge you (a basic liberal teaching) and you think you'll get likes by standing up for a dumbass. well played! p.s you're prolly a satan worshiper too i mean just look at your ignorance and decay of the brain.

  • @MegaFrankification Wow...we've got ourselves a profiler...and a shit one! Public school? No. Liberal? No.Taught respect but not love. Respect me, I respect you. Simple. People hating me isn't a problem, it means I've made them think. Satan worshipper? No. Satan doesn't exist. Standing up for a dumbarse? No. You're the only dumbarse around here. Wanna go again? I'll even step up my abuse next time if you'd like, make you feel at home and all that. Thanks for the entertainment, princess.

  • marry me atheist goddess :)

  • 'Atheism' is also old dogma. It was the atheists who were responsible for the division and assortment of religions. They also deified nature and natural phenomenon. Today it is 'mother nature'. Even evolution isn't a new idea.

    -

Today's atheism is more radical than ever. Joseph Stalin and Karl Marx are examples of modern atheism and we all know atheist liberals love Karl Marx.

  • This is a prime example of thesaurus porn. Yeah baby, work those syllables!

  • Lady, you might love Sam Harris, but I fucking love you!

  • I look like Sam harris,.. Except that Im Anglo-Asian, and six foot three inches tall, and,.. ok I dont look anything like Sam, but my real name is Mi hung Lo, how cool is that. Great videos by they way.

  • Christopher Hitchens is way better than Sam Harris

  • If i was god i would accept u into my heaven

  • lol I thought I wanted to be Sam Harris BEFORE I saw this video. Girlie, you're delightful.

  • Atheism will ultimately take over the world, unless some crazy religious fanatics destroy the world.

Why? Education. Unfortunately, we probably won't see that day

    :(

  • RELIGION (ALL) = FRAUD. Religion is the root of ALL evil and the cause of current and most past wars

RELIGION = Apartheid, separateness, us Vs them.

RELIGION distorts logic and trains people to believe in the supernatural and blur their sense of reality.

The world needs to consign religion to history. How can any half-intelligent person believe in miracles, virgin birth, angels, afterlife with the imaginary boss? Just mythical, evil nonsense.

  • Intelligent and sexy. Can you make more videos of yourself?

  • i meant the bible CONDEMNS ...my bad

  • this is so biased... she has no idea what religion is...

she shows videos of people in church singing, and then an islamic terrorist blowing himself up! good job, this vid is shit.

I've never blown myself up because of the bible...if anything the bible condones all of this, but obviously somebody has never read the bible, she just assumes she understands religion... why dont you get more educated on the subject before you post a vid next time?

  • the fact that you don't, doesn't mean that religion causes a lot of strife, war and hatred. Religion causes closed mindedness, intolerance and social disorder (just take a look at VenomFangX, boy is he disturbed). All of which are unfavorable traits in a modern society.

  • How does christianity cause closed mindedness? All christianity does is tries to teach us to be good Samaritans, help others, and appreciate everything God has given us. I never read anything in the bible that said DO NOT LISTEN TO AUTHORITY, and as for VenomFangX idk, maybe he's a troller. Atheists should stop generalizing religion.

EVEN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH approved of science, and says that everything that is proven by science is true (especially the theory of evolution)

  • But Christianity is more than the catholic church, and even within the catholic church there are closed-minded people, mind you.

So far, every Christian I've met has tried to make me believe in a God I don't want to believe in. Doesn't consider the other options, believing in only his own zealous cause. The discussions always ended up in me being called an immoral occult Satanist, while I'm calmly and rationally explaining my views, debunking their arguments as unconvincing.

  • haha yeah, I've had people try to convert me...twice, even though im already christian!! so yeah, i admit there are people, especially protestants, who are really closed-minded and really really annoying...unfortunately those are the only people you've encountered.

  • And you obviously don't live in the Bible Belt of America. I do. I'm an openly gay atheist. Wanna know how much crap I get from Christians? I'm not saying ALL Christians are close-minded. That is certainly not true, but a good majority down here are. They automatically think that I'm going to Hell when they are the ones having underage sex, drinking 'til intoxication, ect. When you can fix it so Christians are trying to convert every person and stop "condemming" the ones that refuse, then people

  • and atheists cause war too

You cant tell me that atheists have never done crimes or started wars

Hitler, Ceausecu, Mao Zedong, Stalin, Lenin etc... they were all atheists and against religion.

My family lived under Ceausescu's dictatorship, and he used to imprison, execute, and torture priests and monks. And celebrating any religions holiday was a criminal offense.

  • Let's pull out some chapters of religious history shall we?

In 2004 a dutch atheist film director was murdered for explaining his views on Islam

in 2001 terrorist attacks were conducted in the name of Islam on America. Christian president George W. Bush retaliated with several full scale wars.

Throughout the years catholics and protestants have been fighting throughout Ireland.

in WWII Nazi soldiers cited the bible and shouted "Gott mit uns". Hitler was catholic.

  • They are evil in all things. You should't judge a group of people on what a crazy ass person does. That goes for the crusades and stalin alike. Don't baw how atheism or religion is bad. They are just crazy mother fuckers that give a negative sterotype.

  • FINALLY A SMART COMMENT!!! totally agreed!

There will always be religion and atheism. Nobody is above anyone else just by choosing a side. If you think that you're better than someone because your an atheist or the other way around, well... then you're just a fucking idiot!

  • Im atheist and it pisses me off when people refer to stalin, hitler, etc. I point out to the crusades and it goes to no avail.

  • thats because the Crusades were during medieval times. You would expect people to have learned by the 20th century... but i guess not...

  • @3x0rcyst3m Hitler was a Roman Catholic. "Hitler was an atheist" is theist propaganda. The current Pope was, however... a Hitler Youth.

  • @dreamstwice3209 alright, if it helps you sleep at night, sure...

  • the videos of the people "singing" is from jesus camp. you can see it here in youtube. you will probably make you understand the point she is making your. that documentary is scary.

  • The best part of this vid and soooo true...

A movement for a better, more unified world.

a world where young men dont kill themselves and others based on something written in a book.

A world where there is no chosen people.

A world where we all understand we are more similar then different and that the only evil in the world come from ourselves.

thats a world we have the capacity to improve. if we are fighting gods and devils... i fear we already lost.

  • fucks sake.. i was about to insult you for using a title of "anti god" and having a pretty face to lure people to watch your videos, but..

i really like your point, adding in that mixture of clips of "terrorism" was a really nice touch.

for once a blog with a point instead of talking or whining about boyfriends or tryin to act cute on camera..

    peace.

  • These are her beliefs. Nothing more. Just another human stepping on a podium.

  • Again, bravo. =D

  • wow you're pretty. like your videos, too.

  • I'm really with what you're saying and you're so direct and aren't arrogant at all - What a perfect, articulate speaker for so often misunderstood Atheism. But I just can't concentrate.. you're too pretty :[

  • I LOVE HER

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    im nuts sorry dude

  • Heh.. I know how you feel mate.. If only I didn't live all the way out here in Australia!

  • yea i live in sud america

but anyways im like ten or sever years younger

but well, i guesse there will be at least one here

  • you have perfect teeth... it's uncanny.

  • everything u said is true. ur very smart.

  • the devil made me do it.

  • I want to clarify that I'm curious about what they mean by 'god' when they interpret atheism as not believing in god. Is it a personal god? Anything and everything supernatural? An atheism identifying with the former definition is still far from one who identifies with the latter.

  • atheism is a disbelief in any supernatural being.

You will often here them even mention unicorns as ideas they do not believe in. The dictionary is a bit behind on the modern definition as it has evolved from the use even 50 years ago.

Still, even by the original definition, the stand is a disbelief in any omnipotent creator of the universe and existance.

  • This is an awesome video! And Sam Harris is totally the man.

  • I like her noise haha. It's cute....

  • Shut up! This is the most beautiful nose what i have ever seen in my life.

  • That insult is so Christian of you.

  • if i had a name like fa1thfu1 i would be a retard too.

  • Someone should do research in the looks of christians versus atheists. I bet atheists are better looking :D

  • I bet Christians would argue "well the devil comes in seductive forms" lol. But yeah i agree. Usually the fundamentalist Christians on youtube are over weight grunting old men haha.

  • oh really? search for the amazing athesist lol....

  • hot atheist girls= awesome

    love the tatoo

i wish you did more vids where you showed yourself/ face in.

  • there is girls like this in Canada?

wow im in the wrong country =/

  • If your answer is Yes, then you are most likely lying to yourself as religion is taught from upbringing and a common culture that is taught to you from birth

  • If you answer no, then your belief is based on location and cultural upbringing, which is a learned trait and means it's based on where you are born. If your born in China, you're most likely to be Buddhist, in Iraq most likely to be Muslim, in the USA you could be any religion as we have many different cultures living here, in Sweden most likely Atheist. Religion is only true to you because of where you were born.

  • no true. many people convert from one religion to another so saying your a buddhist just because you were born in china is inaccurate.

  • many people do but most people dont, so the generalisation holds true.

The large majority of people in each area is known positively to be of a like-minded belief system.

Even when a person rejects the dogma of the beliefs, they will tend to hold on to many of the ideas they were taught because all they know is how they were brought up and its hard to leave it all behind.

  • that is the exception to the rule. if your parents are hindu, the chances of their children being buddists are very small. the general rule is parents teach their children the same belief structure as they have. my parents are the rule, i am the exception to it, and my son will be the exception also, in that i dont want him to be like me, i want him to be like him.

  • Here is a logical question to test your own beliefs (whatever they may be). Ask your self this question and take a minute to actually think about it.

If you were born in any other part of the world, would your beliefs be the same as they are now?

  • not a good question ... some religions believe in God's pre-destiny and if you are destined to hell, no matter where you are born, you are still going to end up in hell ... likewise for paradise

  • 1) You can't see the wind, but you can physically feel it and measure it's speed, etc.

    2) Please explain how you saw god bring back someone from the dead. I can guarantee 110% that it was not god.

    3) Broken arms and legs naturally heal. Besides, praying is statistically proven to be bullshit.

    4) You did not break your ankle. You just experienced some pain. Retard.

  • I just don't see how some people's viewpoint like RYEARICE can be soooo far from reality. Do they really seriously believe the bile coming from their mouth?

  • i sincerely hope not.

  • Funny how I've never heard an amputee saying God helped them. It's funny how a broken arm was healed by God yet amputees get offered no 'miracles'...

  • The most minor things that can occur naturally are considered "miracles" to believers. It's sad.

  • I saw a video that had a guy saying wasn't how his mother was saved from death was proof of god? It was to him

The people his was talking to then asked "Well, is a normal person becoming deathly ill of a sudden proof god doesn't exist?"

The man then said, "No, it's what happens to people happens"

He answered his own question. Owned

  • @RYEAHRICE LOL a broken arm or leg heals on its own idiot. And you obviously didn't break your ankle, you probably suffered some shock waves through them.

  • Well constructed points and well presented, too. Kudos for this.

  • Seriously, where can I meet chicks like this one?

  • @tstockt Women of this caliber are few and far between. Were I still single, I'd be totally stalking her, lol.

Seriously, though, Micki. Keep up the great work. You are an inspiration.

  • I love Sam Harris too :P

  • yes yes she is good looking and has a lovey voice but that's not to point of these videos.

  • oh my god...you have got to be too good to be true

a girl that is intelligent and an atheist AND beautiful? i seriously thought beauty and intelligence couldn't coexist

you must be a lesbian or something, way too good to be true

  • well said! i agree that religion is getting old now, it had its purpose, but now its just outdated and we need to move on

  • I don't think religion would be a problem if we had true separation of church and state, but noooooo, that's just too much to ask...

  • Well, there's one problem with that situation. If you believe there is one final word on the difference between good and evil, how would you rationalize not deriving your laws from that word? Separation of church & state will never make sense to truly religious. More importantly, if you were given rock solid evidence that scripture was inspired by God, would you still support sepparation. OF COURSE NOT! That's why anyone who believes there's actual evidence of the devine rejects separtation.

  • That was my point. I want separation of church and state to make sense to the truly religious. Because I am an atheist, I find it hard to understand why those religious people find religion to be a necessary part of politics, but that is my flaw, my ignorance. What you say is true, I'm just asking for something impossible.

Do you think separation of church and state should be advocated? Also, why is it this separation seems nonsensical to those religious people? (The 2nd ? is for your opinion)

  • Well imagine writing a test, and all the answers were on a cheat sheet the teacher gave you. The teacher told you not to use the cheat sheet, but just do the test on your own anyway. You could of course follow the request, buy why would you? You literally already have the answers! The only reason you and I listen to scientists is because we trust that their information is valid. If you believed the Bible represented valid information, wouldn't you want to use it too?

  • You just equated following the Bible to cheating on a test.

In your example, the teacher gave you the cheat sheet. Is the teacher Jesus/God?

The way I see the example, I was shown the cheat sheet by no one of any superiority, and I don't know of its validity. Supposedly it was written by God, or is the word of God in some sense, but how could I know? There is no teacher to show me.

  • Quite Pretty, Good points, Good Job!!!

  • so cute :]

  • We need more women like this in Indiana. Alas, most of the atheist chicks I know are either hard core libertarians or post modernist hipster douchebags or hippie chicks. Where can I find a nice cute girl, with Liberal/Progressive views, maybe slightly quirky, but otherwise is normal and happens to be an atheist? Most of the ones that fit that description are already taken. Indiana sucks.

  • Libertarianism isn't bad, and I love hippies ;_;

And don't make it sound like you're looking for "a good time"

  • Good for you?

  • This video kind of bored me... I kind of go back and forth between Atheism and Agnonostic...ism, so I'm never on solid ground. But when it comes to religion, I feel it's better not to complicate things. I don't believe in God. That's pretty damn simple. Don't really need to tack anything on to that.

  • you can figure out alot more about this if you grab a a bag of cheetos and light up

  • PiroNiro! The rumours are true.

The christians have begun to march. Atheist military experts believe they are coming for your land. Their strategy is to cut off the supply line between you and Mickipedia. They have already taken the bridge and several of the outlying atheist villages. They must have thousands of horses and archers! PiroNiro, what shall we do?? Are there 300 atheists handy?

  • Velayasha! I Will Join You!!! We CAN Win This BATTLE!!!!

  • Oh Micki, where are your new videos, THE WORLD IS SO EMPTY WITHOUT YOU!!!

By the way, I hope you will be so kind to answer my two simple questions.:)

1). Since you are a God, why would you need philosophy, when you already know everything??

2.) Did you produce a new porn lately?

That's all, hope you are doing fine,

    Your admirer

  • @WrogPublicznyNumer1 I pity you, only a guy with a really low self-esteem could write a comment like this. Is it really that hard to see a woman smarter than you?

  • @zxul767 YES!

  • If the was more people like her world would be like heaven on earth.

  • @matius150 hahaha! or hell!

  • holy crap, marry me.

  • Cute, clever, and an atheist! Sam Harris is a lucky guy :P

  • agreed

  • why wast i informed that it was atheism week >_>

  • Smart AND pretty. What more could a guy want? =) Atheist here too! Got a boyfriend??

  • gilthanas666: Oh come on...a rational, thinking, articulate pretty girl like that? Of course she's already taken! I'm afraid the rest of us can only pine away ;-)

  • Religion is the root of all Evil it takes im more Money than any other business on the planet and thats all it is a well thought of business to keep people paying into its greedy pocket.

The universe is huge we are but 1 tiny fish in a very big pond and Religion has no room if we are to move forward in this universe.

  • heaven is earth without religion

  • religions are a great way for haters to hate.

religions are a great way for lovers to love.

have you ever known a person who hated, based on rules from their religion? have you ever known a person who loved, based on rules from their religion? what are..a hating atheist and a hating member of a religion? they are haters. what are..a loving atheist and a loving member of a religion? they are believers.

  • fence sitter!

  • haha that sam harris declaration of love was damn funny pironiru, just like your name.

  • If God wasn't real, I would agree with you about modern day society and how it does not need God.

  • Atheism sounds radical to me. But I guess it is needed to have such movements in our world to finally make the balance..

  • Atheism is our default position at birth'. It's through the injection of religiosity over the course of our childhoods that our ideology is formed. The sheer fact that you assume it's radical to be an athiest, goes to show you the magnitude of control that this opiate has over our society. If the majority of the world were drug addicts and you weren't. Would it seem radical to be drug free? You might not like the analogy but that's the way it appears to me. Sobriety is not radical.

  • neptewn,

"Atheism is our default position at birth'."

At birth we are also aloving, amathematical, ascientific and arational. What a lame argument!

"It's through the injection of religiosity over the course of our childhoods that our ideology is formed."

True for atheists as much as theists. But some become theists later in life and you fail to take that into account.

  • "At birth we are also aloving, amathematical, ascientific and arational. What a lame argument!"

Those aren't ideologies. Let's try Communism. You aren't born a Communist you become one. If you were born in a Communist country and weren't one it may seem radical if the majority of the nation was.

"True for atheists as much as theists. But some become theists later in life and you fail to take that into account."

Atheism does not have to be taught it is our natural state. That's a difference.

  • Sorry neptewn - I'm sure you think you've got a really good argument going on there but it's absolute rubbish. As if what we're born 'thinking' has ANY bearing whatsoever on what's true. Why just ideologies? You have not justified any distinction - just asserted one exists. They are without parents [in their mind] but that does not mean the parent does not exist in reality.

  • PLUS you still have not responded to the existence of evil as a problem for atheism.

  • I love how you try to attack atheists by showing one bad example. Is that all you have? Because I can name many more theists who killed people over their beliefs, and many people who still do. Fact is, many more people have been killed over religion than have been killed over atheism. The comparison isn't even close.

  • Swami,

Can you show me a religion that killed 18 million people in any century of human history? It's not one bad society or person - it's many. Every single secular society has had increased murder - those are the facts. Of course you're not going to like that but it's fact!

  • As a % of world population at the time of the murder religion far outweighs any other group of murderers. This is irrelevant though. Name me an atheist who has murdered in the name of atheism. Zero. Name me a religious person who has murdered in the name of religion. Countless.

  • So atheism had nothing to do with the communist maafesto then eh? That's serious revisionist history that one!! Let's see. How about the teaching that religion is poison. Not so far away from what Dawkins is saying currently actually. These crimes were done by atheists, in the name of atheism. Done to cleanse the planet of religion. Torturing Tibetan monks to murder each other - this was an atheistic worldview!

  • Atheism is the lack of a trait, Saying that some groups that share a lack of a trait make the lack of that trait bad is specist logic. Like saying 99% of all wars are caused by people without profound mental retardation, therefore the lack of retardation is a bad thing. The lack of religion is a trait shared by 12% of all people in the united states. and yet less than 12% of people in prisons are atheists. That seems to imply we're either more moral or smarter enough to get caught less.

  • Atheism has nothing to do with what was perpetrated in the name of communism. Atrocities were committed not to cleanse the world of religion per se but in the name of class struggle, to overthrow the ruling class and it's 'instruments of oppression' such as religion.

The only thing in common between communism and atheism is that both deny the existence of a deity. Atheism makes no judgement on whether religion is good, bad or neutral.

  • You mean "Agnosticism" makes no jugdement....

  • Agnosticism says that it's impossible to know whether a God exists or not.

  • Religion IS poison!

  • Wow! That's profound Hottides! Straight out of the communist manifesto! Now - do we need to explain what poison communism brought into the world and how it killed more people in one century than religion had managed in a millenia?!?! Atheistic societies have been the problem not religious ones. Read some history - doofus.

  • Atheist societies haven't yet existed. Those so miss-named (i.e. Marxist states) were political theocracies that enshrined select writings as scripture and their leaders as demigods. For instance, by no measure can North Korea, were mantras to the "Dear Leader" are mandatory, be called Atheistic. Regardless, anyone who thinks 14 centuries of Muslim Jihad and 2 millenia of Christian insanity and witch burnings weren't problems is ignorant. Religion IS poison. Even Mao was right about some things.

  • Ahhhh - the old atheist two-step!! It wasn't really atheism you see but something else.1 However, underneath they were driven in their poisonous attitudes toward religion to become the very thing you are decrying. Jesus, Gandhi, the Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King Jr., William Wilberforce.... and you want to tell me Mao was right about somethings after what he did. Whatever else you say you have condemned yourself right there!!!

  • Marxists secretly coveted the power of religion, as shown by the deification that invariably accompanied their ascent. It's not Atheism if one builds a "State Church", as Lenin termed Sovietism. Marxists were driven by the same maniacal power hunger and delusional self-aggrandizement as Jesus and Muhammad. Mao was right about religion being poison. Mao, Jesus, Hitler, Muhammad, Stalin all said profundities about politics, religion and psychology. The messenger doesn't invalidate the message.

  • Way to sock it to 'em dude! although you have to admit, the marxists were promoting an atheistic regime even if in name only.

  • Precisely: Marxists are Atheists IN NAME ONLY. True Marxists regard the works of Marx, Engels, Lenin and often Mao, Stalin and Che as their revered inerrant Gospels and the animistic "Dialectic" as the Spirit guiding history towards the revealed Red Dawn of Endtimes and the Workers Paradise to follow. In addition to veritable Gospels and Saints, Marxists supplement their "Atheism" with a hodgepodge of economic inanities such as Collectivization and Labor Value theory.

  • "Atheism sounds radical to me." - YTGloom

This is what I was originally responding too.. dooyeweerd.. Umm.. I'm not sure what you're argueing, you seem to be off on a tangent of some sort. I was simply pointing out that Atheism should not seem "Radical"..

"As if what we're born 'thinking' has ANY bearing whatsoever on what's true." - dooyeweerd

"Truth"? I was talking about perception.

Atheism is not radical, it's actually easier, you don't have to have a belief.

  • ""Truth"? I was talking about perception."

Well, in that case you've only made a fairly boring point that has no epistemological value at all. You've just made your own 'point' completely redundant!

  • PLUS, even if your arbitrary little distinction of ideology vs. all other knowledge does bear out [and as yet you're yet to show logical why that should hold] are you really being so naive as to claim that atheism is not an ideology?

The word means 'no god'. Not without God or not sure about God. If anyone should be using this lame argument it's agnostics not atheists. Babies don't believe there is no God!

I can't believe I'm wasting my time on this lame excuse for an argument!

  • Theism is the formation of these ideas and beliefs and does qualify as an ideology. Forming from what? An absence of belief, Atheism..

If you start of with nothing, is nothing something?

  • You're an agnostic then are you? Atheism literally from the Greek is not 'without' God - it means 'no' God. Atheists BELIEVE there is no God. If you're not certain you're agnostic. If you don't care then what are you doing talking about it!

You don't have nothing as your starting point. Don't be so terribly naive. You are arguing FOR SOMETHING! How can you not see that?!?

  • Properly considered, agnosticism is not a third alternative to theism and atheism because it is concerned with a different aspect of religious belief. Theism and atheism refer to the presence or absence of belief in a god; agnosticism refers to the impossibility of knowledge with regard to a god or supernatural being.

The term "agnostic" does not, in itself, indicate whether or not one believes in a god. Agnosticism can be either theistic or atheistic

Per Huxley the man who coined the term.

  • Yes but the more common sense is that someone is only claiming to not know for themselves when they refer to being agnostic.

This more right wing agnosticism [no-one can know] certainly exists too no doubt. However I have never heard of an agnostic theist I have to say. Most monotheists certainly don't want to drive a wedge between 'believing' and having 'knowing'.

  • Also bear in mind that this form of agnosticism [no-one can know] may sound terribly humble at first glance but it is really a huge truth claim itself. It is claiming to know something [viz. that there can be no knowledge of God either for or against]. Now this view rarely gets defending just asserted. It needs justification however. If one is saying no-one can know anything about this issue then how is it this agnostic knows? Is this the sort of agnostic you're claiming to be?

  • Also - look at the record of the only atheistic societies that have been tried [Russia and China]. They ended in genocide of certain people groups still. Atheism does not make peopl peaceful - all the empirical evidence suggests the opposite. The problem is human beings.

  • Oliver Cromwell says hi!

  • And Stalin says "That was nothing mate - look at my death count!"

  • And Lenin says: Watch me eliminate the religious for you! Yeeeh-haaaaa!

  • those only two atheistic societies also happened to be communist. I think the communism was more to blame than the atheism.

Sudan is not atheist, but there is genocide going on there.

  • Most atheists these days seem to be empirical prrof against your contention. Most of them are extremely intollerant of religion - to the point of wanting religious freedoms taken away. they talk about the 'end' of religion like they can usher it in. So how pray tell? Well the only way would be to line up all religious people and execute them. Well, there's your atheism for you. Communists, BECAUSE THEY WERE ATHEISTS believed in the same.

  • That's just bad generalizations and horrible history. Most atheists are intolerant of the effects of religion, not necessarily religion itself (suicide bombings, inquisitions). And if you think the majority of the people killed by the Soviets were because of the fact the believed in 'God', then you are sorely mistaken.

  • What a nice little myth you atheists have going on there! So I suppose you will demonstrate that Stalin did not close down 48,000 churches and kill millions of Christians! I suppose that was not for religious reasons eh?!

At least 180 million people have been killed by secular governments in the 20th Century.

At least Satre is honest enough to note:

"Without God all activities are equivalent..." You still seem to think you can judge but have not explained why?!

  • PiroNero,

Could you please explain to me how you account for logic and reason based on your atheistic beliefs?

    Many thanks.

  • cute and smart. its a winning combination :)
