Omg I went crazy when he broke into giant steps ( if u don't know what that is u seriously need to take a gospel brake and listen to some jazz)....INSANE BRO INSANE!!!!??
thx man, helps alot, i play for church and theres heeps of 2,5,1's and im still learning them jazz stuff. Im boring with just major heh..thx man, god bless, the more you give, the more you recieve
What up my dude!! Dis is Brian P. Man I'm gonna play like that when I grow up. You have no idea how many times I watch this video. God Bless you bro. Don't forget about us you do your album. LOL!!!!
Gerald Forrest, the creator of gospel chops, got the name because all of the musicians that he uses in his videos either played or play in the christian church. Hence, the name Gospel chops. And every musician knows what chops are, so that part is self explanatory.
LoL, it's all good. That is basically it. Chops are your skills, ability, licks, basically everything that you do in your arsenal that makes up you as a musician.
there is a video that i got to that says that it is no longer available after the end of this and it is freaking sick!!!!! This is the definition of an humble bass player!!!
If i am mistaken that bass is a J&L made by some dude that was a part of fender and e left an took off. Those bases are sweet, nice tone and they have alot of models, check them out J&L peace!!!!
I've noticed that the best bass tone I've ever heard has come from gospel music played in predominately african-american churches. Whenever I hear a gospel song like this one, the bass guitar tone is BOOMING with awesome tone and power. What is the secret behind this bass sound?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hmmmm.........he aight, i saw the same licks in bill buddah dickens vids, wat ever happened to being original???? fake tripplets two hand technique finger dancin.... but i guess thats what bass playing has come to.......
in the beginning in 2:45 of the 2-5-1 turn-around you played the 1 using the middle finger but when you show it again you dont use it {unless its another chord}
all i can say is this dude is nasty..this negro is stupid sick on the bass...i listen to this video over and over and it get's more and more impressive each time...keep up the good work brotha...anybody knows how much he payed for his hands and where i can buy a pair from...LOL.....God bless ya brotha.
I dig the combination of jazz/funk flow-style, that you have going on; you play/talk like you have a technical background in music, long with, i sure, natural playing ability... keep up the awesome sound!
Awesome feel and instruction. Seamless transitions. Love it. Im ganna have to get a new bass now cuz my action is horrible and my neck is broken... o well. Someday I'll be that good
Thank so much man, you're an awsome musician. I just recently got back into playin my bass and learning those turn-arounds really helped in developing my ear to bring out more of my personality in bass playing. Blessings to you!!! Kings and Priests Forever!!!

Man that is sick son...if I wasn't so confident in my ability to learn and grow as a player and person I'd quit after watching this cat play. Hell I would quit after watching alot bass players play...can't be that shallow.
WWHHHHAHAAAATT?!?! WTF is wrong with you? do you even play the effin bass? are you retarded. for gospel you need the low-B first off, secondly, all of his chordal work is on the normal strings of a four-banger. Also, he showed some great stuff with popping and slapping. Don't say anything if it's gonna be that stupid and ignorant.
He seems like a guitar player who switched to the bass. Not a traditional bassist. I can tell. Listen to his techniqes. Thats guitar stuff. Give hima 4-string bass, and he will be stumped. Listen to Donald Dunn. he is the king of bassists. Plus, this guy has little rythm.
little rhythm.. yea right... the dude is just nice at creating his own groove while style being in the pocket. It sounds like his out of the pocket but hes in there hes just doing his own thing while still being aware of the pace. And alot of bass players have taken a more LEAD role with there istrument which is good because they can be on the bottom and come and add different flavors to the music every now then.
are u kidding me? please provide us with the proof that he'll be stumped when he gets on a 4 string.....have u seen him play a 4 string? im tired of all these youtube haters (especially the ones that have no videos)....dale black is one of the better bassists in the industry...obviously ur too naive to know that...wow ur dumb....get off youtube

Get you triplets tighter. As you play faster, you lose clarity and your notes just sound like ghost notes. Instead of the open hammer pluck method a la Victor Wooten, experiment w/ the up and down thumb a la Bill Dickens. Good though!!
