I don't remember this episode. I don't know how I could have missed it, but this was a nice performance. Ryan makes it look easy, but by this point, he was an old pro.
I've started a petition to release every season of this show on DVD. you can find the url on my channel page, since I can't post it here. just trying to get the word out!
They held on to the '85-'86 kids as long as they could because the producers just could never seem to find new kids that had the same presence. The unfortunate reality of the series was that it was so youth-based that it became rather like "Logan's Run," with the stars put out to pasture when they hit a certain age. '88 was ultimately the last year that the show maintained its original chemistry.
Yes, Ryan was hot, then. . .and may still be today. I can say that, because he's only 3-4 years older than I am. Now that I've totally dated myself (i.e. hinted just how old I really am), I will agree with RocStarr1983, who says that Ryan was getting too grown up for the series by this point. This episode aired in 1988, when Ryan would have been 18. It would apparently be his last season.
Great performance, but you could see signs that Ryan had become too streamlined and that he was getting too grown up for the series. But as always, Ryan handled it with panache and charisma to be a great KI performer till the end.
