I'm not Catholic, but I need to clear up some misconceptions. I grew up in Catholic schools and the Bible is studied. I distinctly remember having an Old Testament class in high school that lasted a semester or 2.
No misconceptions. The Bible is studied among Catholics, but they teach that Church tradition is equal to Scripture. That results in Tradition nullifying Scripture when they so choose. Check out Richard Bennett's info. He was a Roman Catholic priest for 22 years and works with several other ex-priests, enlightening people about the frauds and errors of Roman Catholic theology.
I am Eastern Orthodox and we do believe in Holy Tradition. As a matter of fact, the Christian world has the New Testament canon thanks to Holy Tradition. After the pagan persecutions were finished and people were able to confess their faith openly, the faithful from various corners of the world got together to learn from each local church what they held to be divinely inspired. Thus, from concensus (not by conspiracy as is taught by some) grace-filled scriptures were accepted.
