Try to do real pushups, you'll see a difference. Partial motion is good, but really only for powerlifting and body building when your trying to break through plateus.
when im doing muay thai we do the one where he calls out numbers and tells you to sprawl. Is this the boxing one? You guys just do this for a warm up right?
The dude keeps good form doing those, but if you`re out of shape and you do them that fast, you can seriously mess up your shoulder joints, the dude in the back is about what people should be looking for in a pushup to begin with imo.
when you do halfups, you are keeping the muscles engaged the whole time. Where when you do the lock up position you are giving them a slight break. There are no breaks in half-ups. Same theory for weights.
He's going as far DOWN as he needs to. Its the coming up that he's doing wrong. If he was in the Army, the count would be "one...one...one...one...one...one..one.." because he never goes to lockout on the up position. It's the 'half-ups' that are done at nearly every MMA school for some reason. Whatever. He's in better shape than me!
they get quicker by doing it that way. you can do them slow and all the way to the ground or just the short / quick ones where you stop halfway through. pro athletes usually do that
I don't want to be rude, but to anyone else commenting...no one cares how many pushups you can do. This is part of a larger workout. Try shadow boxing for eight rounds and doing this intermittently. It's completely different.
U do want to be rude. And personally I find it very interesting what people can do. I dont mean to be rude but I don't want to read u whining about comments, if u dont like em dont read em. (;
The other day I went for a gameshow audition, they ased if I have special talent, said I can do 70 in a minute, they asked me to show them. I did 70 in about 50 seconds not really trying too hard either, I have tiny skinny legs though and massivee top can bench 140kg at 73kg body weight lol.
First time I attempted it I was challened by a m8 at a house party. I was very drunk and kept misjudging the distance and whacking my nose off the floor lol.
PUSH UPS - You know they do more 4 shoulders and chest?
For stamina/tone try this one - stand upright, with arms by side. reach arms out to sides keeping them straight the palms up. Now rotate the arms with small circles clockwise - do this for about 30 secs. Then repeat, going the opposite direction.
Work on this until you can do this for about 4 min.... then try the same exercise, but holding a 1ltr bottle of coke in each hand still with palms upwards, cupping the bottles in hands.
That totally depends on how you do the pushups. The ones he is doing in the video are wrong, he's not going all the way down and he's doing them way to fast.
Different types of push ups are used for different reasons. To build explosive strength from your arms and chest, which is ideal for fighting purposes, it is recommended you do pushups quickly rather than slowly.
thanks! i hv another Q. Are there alternate ways to build explosive power besides pushups and squats? (I dont mean using medicine balls, etc... because i dont have those things at home)...
Google 'plyometrics'. All those workouts are designed to build explosive strength, strength that is ideal for martial arts and striking arts in general.
you can do partial reps to full reps in intervals of 1 partial, 1 full, intervals like that and do about 30 reps each set as fast as you possibly can. also do less weight more times like instead of doing 10 reps 3 sets of 180 lbs, do 120 lbs 20 times four reps. give me some info on your build (height, weight, body fat percentage, amount of weight you max out at on exercises and ill give you some GREAT info bro.
my trainer trains sugar shane n ur suppose to go down n extend those arms all the way when u come up this guy would prob do half the push ups he's doing now if he extended all the way up
You are exactly right. If I do them to full ROM, I can't do as many. In the vid, I'm trying to burn it out for cardio only. Nice comment though, Jerry
cool, i learned something i didnt know that im a try to combine this with my regular push ups got any excersices for those muscles by ur hip/waist to make them harder ??
Is it wrong to do pushups going down more than 90 degrees?? cause i use to do push ups all the way down to the floor and im afraid to hurt myself cause i really wanna do this workout.
how many push ups did you do? :) 37-3x? I can only do 37 pushups in this workoutl!! hella fun!

By that logic, one would be able to do more full pushups/reps than partials, which isn't the case.

By not locking the arms you are keeping the muscle working the whole way through the movement.

True but its more effective doing it quick 180* because we do 1 minute pushups for my circuit.

The press ups that guy was doing would be more strenuous than a full press up where you lock your arms, when you lock you get that split second rest.
