  • this is one of the rarest songs. it is so good it will move you to tears.

  • So amazing.

  • Hey, I'm having trouble with this video..

I keep pressing replay on purpose

    Can somebody help me?

  • wow, so surprising how assuming people are just because they aren't used to hearing something different.

The guy is not retarded. And who cares if he was, I'd still marry him. He's incredible with his words and music. Talent that is rare in this world and 100 times more than you'll find in any mainstream crap.

  • very 1960s haha i like it

  • Cliche as this is, this video actually took my breath away. After hearing the song and absolutely loving it this is simply a perfect accompaniment.

  • B E A utiful!!!!

  • Just a little inlove with them

  • I'm guessing the white horse is meant to be the pale horse upon which death rides...

  • 12 people aren't afraid to voice everyone's confusion with the white horse.

  • 2:05 he looks like an ELF !

  • so death is a white guy with a beard

  • YOU'VE GOT A FRIIIIEND IN ME

  • @curtismatheson

    LMAO!

It does kind of sound like that.

  • Just amazing. I don't even need to say more then that. 536 likes and 11 dislikes - vouches for me.

  • I love this song, because it is what it is and it sounds like it sounds!

  • this will be played at my funeral!

  • This song isn't good. It's damn good.

  • anyone know what kind of guitar he is playing?

  • Is it wrong to sing along and have the head bob?

    I think not.

  • Comment removed

  • pretty sure about half of the views are mine.

i want to marry this song. so good.

  • @sweetsangria6 The other half are mine :D

For this hundred year old delta blues riff to kick me hard in 2011, it must be something special.

    Love. This.

  • It's kermit the frog!

But in all seriousness, soemthing about this guy's voice just makes me melt!

  • Oh reverend please can I chew your ear? I have become what I most fear

And I know there’s no such thing as ghosts but I have seen the demon host…

    Epicness

  • Comment removed

  • his voice makes me shivers like a Canadian winter night. So eerily magical

  • so ten people are wrong.....

  • he looks deep: concentrated and totally unmannered, that's becoming very rare in the music world, so rare that people mistake it for "retardedness"...sad

  • @friedathefreak i agree entirely, i am only 16 but i am the only one who seems to appreciate music with any intelligence or deeper meaning to it. and it makes me sad to my friend, it makes me very sad.

  • @ridstik

    hahaha get a life

  • These guys have an exceptional way with words, rhymes and pronouncing them.. One of my favorite artists as a listener of folk rock, modern country and stuff of that sort. Palace Brothers (will oldham / bonnie prince billie) / some of Jason Molina (Magnolia Electric) might be among the music you would like if you enjoy this. And the guy I would say.. is probably everything but a retard..

  • Timber Timbre is pretty good !

    Wainting for you in France!

  • god the ending is so hauntingly beautiful. the oooOOOoooOO

  • whoever it was who started chirping this dude's style of singing should check out ryan goslin's band Dead Man's Bones 'cause last i heard, goslin isn't mentally disabled

or you can just zip it and move on :)

  • Une voix troublante qui porte un chant touchant... Bravo et tout en simplicité avec ca ...j'adore !

  • I love comment fights :)

  • I just happen to stumble upon this. This is so beautiful. Love this song!!

  • Goosebumpy voice in a good way.

  • i must have his guitar....

  • my sister did a solo dance to this, it was gorgeous. this is my new obsession.

    i LOVE the ending

  • Merci à FRANCE INTER !!!!!!!

  • that guitar!!

  • Wouah

  • David Lynch-like atmossphere mixed with "The Seventh Seal" by Ingemar Bergman. Totally awesome.

  • Currently my favourite band ever

  • friendly dude ! and cool show in Leffinge yesterday

  • here is the church , here is the steeple , the same as : In anyone else but you. i guess is a common phrase

  • @fillthemurder123 It's from a nursery rhime

  • Very unique.

  • Great video, what did you shoot on?

  • @cleekfilms It was shot on 35mm film. Shot with an old Soviet-made Konvas 2M. The stock was probably Kodak 5219.

  • impressive lyrics and video soooo much talent out there

  • great song and awesome video but does anyone know the significance of the white horse at the end?

  • @AGhost2Most It probably has to do with purity, and how the demon is so close, yet this symbol for purity is far away, and the purity is much better looking.

  • @scrumsguy It could be a biblical reference. In the bible, Death rode a white horse.

  • his voice is the most fantastic I heard in a long time!.... saw him yesterday at the Vancouver Folk Fest....love his songs ... especially his special voice!!!!

  • @boelima me too, i love his voice!!! one of my favorite males vocalists

  • on witch album i can find demon host ?

  • @ingoohneb it's self-titled album I'm pretty sure :], Timber Timbre

  • i just seen them at bluesfest they were amazing

  • very good group... don't know how to explain but it feel ok

    Montreal, QC

    Congratz Ontario

  • Old stuff right here.

  • I LOVE YOU, {((TIMBER TIMBRE))}

    !!! <3

  • It very great ......

  • This is some of the best musik I've ever heard!

    Lovin' it! c",)

  • genial.,...

  • My new fave band. Im just sorry I didnt hear of them sooner.

  • demon chode

  • Beautifully creepy song...

  • can anyone tell me how the muting is done in this song, sound like dragging a fingernail or something.

  • @Drakaven666 I think he used a coin.

  • @lovecalder

though this comment is incredibily stupiDDD - specialy regarding a song where the text has to come forward - the mongoloids are very nice people without harmfull inclinations, so it could be seen as compliment.

  • @hoohoohooboo

    sorry

    *sings like a RETARD

  • @lovecalder

yeah man thats what im talking about, a nicely developed and highly significant mind produced announcement. your not less than good!

  • @lovecalder

yeah man thats what im talking about, a nicely developed and highly significant mind produced announcement. your not less than good!

  • @hoohoohooboo

I heard that the singer actually does suffer from a debilitating mental illness and that's why the music sounds so terrible.

Is that true? Can you confirm that for me please?

  • @lovecalder in that case you should have written that he is a retard, mogoliod or sbd with "debilitating mental illness", and not that he sings like one.do you think i know the guy? how could i confirm that...?

anyway, all i can claim is that its a genius with a wide and large opened mind transmitting creativity, good ideas and feelings without a trace of hate. but, if in all that you actually find reasons to write three times that he s a retard, man, you gotta think about what you re thinking.

  • @hoohoohooboo

Yeah, I agree with you there, he is definitely mentaly disabled, not just trying to sing like somebody who is. Often these retarded folks can have a hidden, "genius-like", talent, like being really good at mathematics or paddle-boating, etc.

I suppose his singing is better than what I've heard from other retarded folk.

Still, I think the record company might be exploiting him...he should be put in a home or something, not forced into the eye of the public. Poor guy.

  • @lovecalder you re not agreeing with me, cause its not what i think.what you seem to be,actually,is narrow-minded. and adding useless, unverifiable presumptions -"informations" - as "he might be exploited",demonstrates your exploitation of sth called intelligence and logic. and after that -"poor guy"?whats that man??non sense.fact of obviously being a kind of expert in "retarded folk singing" and if you suppose that his singing is better of what youve heard..bravo,at least you have an opinion.

  • @lovecalder wow, you are one stupid fucker...maybe YOU should be put in a home or something

  • @lovecalder Dude, even if this guy was mentally handicapped, that would mean a retard has done better with their life and soul than you ever have or ever will.

This man makes beautiful music. I may have just found it, but I'm already enthralled and mystified.

  • @BuyaKid

Wow, I'm almost impressed that, one year later, I'm somehow managing to continue bothering people with one stupid comment.

  • @lovecalder Stupid comments tend to do that.

  • @BuyaKid

I'm enthralled and mystified by you...

  • @lovecalder Hey! you're pretty cool yourself guy!

  • @lovecalder He does not sound like a "retard". WTF. He has a very eerie way of singing is all, very unique. You probably said the same thing about Joanna Newsom.

  • @iheartmuffy It's possible not to like this singer and on the contrary, love Joanna Newsom. It's my case.

  • @iheartmuffy AH FUCK i thought this WAS joanna newsome!

  • @iheartmuffy Well, Joanna Newsom does sounds retarded...in a good way.

  • @iheartmuffy i love your outrage. haha

  • Damn good.

  • This video is really quite perfect. The music is always so dark, but you can always hear a thread of real life under the sinister moods. It's almost ironic and funny.

I can't wait to see these guys play in buffalo this spring, always a good show.

  • this song is perfect for everything

  • @brandy88888 I agree, we use it here at the abortion clinic where I work all the time.

  • Comment removed

  • addictive.

  • sweet video. it's great how they pulled off the grim reaper stuff. could've went so wrong but it went so right. and without any special effects. cudos cudmore.

  • This may be one of my favorite music videos.

  • This is quality. Haven't heard too many voices quite like this one...Having a great story doesn't hurt

  • Beautiful track, if not a little eerie.

  • thanks for the upload....what a fascinating piece of music!!!

  • I just read NME now. A turnaround from 10 years ago where they were flavour of the month and Now / Eye had more permanence. Now/ Eye are flavour of the week now. Burgeoning talent requires some dedication and I hate to see just being exploited for some hipster cachet and will be forgotten next year for some other new guy. Meanwhile he could be working on a magnum opus like say Jack White (supported consistent by NME since infancy). Its not fair! Let talent develop and reward accordingly.

  • Bands defiantly get exposed to early, or are heralded to soon. Only a few bands are worth the hype they get.

  • True, whatever happened to Moneen for instance? Too much heralding causes backlash too, which is even worse than fading into obscurity.

  • I hate people

  • What kind of guitar is he playing?

  • Whooa whooa whooa whooa so lovely!

  • @TVGuido Everyone likes what they like. So people who like lyrical music are "art hipsters" well if they are, its better to be that way and have a sense of culture then not.

If they are art hipsters then everyone who likes the shit spewed out of LA (mainstream music) are cultureless, superficial brain numbed twits.

  • @TVGuido wow your a dick.

@ArtBeatsNB you are one of the most intelligent and agreeable commenters i have ever read.

  • @TVGuido wow your a dick.

@ArtBeatsNB you are one of the most intelligent and agreeable youtubers ive ever read a post from.

  • Typical hipster response. Why not challenge me and say why this is the critics best choice?

    I'll tell you why:

Hipsters are new Slackers (90s terminology) who turned the tables with the advent of the internet to equate minimalism with GRATENESS! To substantiate lower effort and underachievement with accomplishment. They call it being 'irony' but its just cynicism!

Why not pick Silver Sun Pick Ups ? Does Rock challenge you too much? Wimps!

  • I'm not saying 'pretentious art fuck hipsters' don't exist, but do you really think timber timbre is a true representation of that ethos? As far as I can tell, it's not as if he's using irony/apathy/shallow style to cover up a lack of creativity or depth of emotion. I think you're doing yourself a disservice by lumping musical styles (such as acoustic minimalism? Is that what you're attacking?) in with a certain brand of youth culture that is unrelated to the artist.

  • @prawnkisses my main beef is with critics not the artist. They choose obscure artists (limited appeal) to sound smart, and what's going to happen next year? If they keep lowering the bar to entry to their top ten or whatever lists ? It's not credible and I can't rely on what they say.

  • Now THAT I can get behind. It definitely seems like critics/bloggers are just trying to one-up each other in terms of obscurity and how many genres- punctuated with fruity adjectives- they can mash together to describe their next 'unknown genius'.

When the only standard used to judge musical prowess is a band's obscurity, does that mean my 12 yr old cousin's garage band is due for an Exclaim! write up any day now?

(but most 'music journalist's are just teen boys or 30ish fat outcasts, anyway)

  • @TVGuido Silver Sun Dick-cups are fine in this one song that I heard, but just try for a second to like something with a little depth to it. If you are a giudo as your name indicates, then leave "hipsters" alone. Spend more time realizing how ridiculous you are. Not just for being a guido, because you probably aren't, you just think the name's clever. Oh well... I'm going to bed now, while listening to the Avett Brothers and Animal Collective. Fuck off.

  • Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond hate you

  • great video!
