Windows 7? Sure Seems Like Vista - Saving The Brand

We have XP, Vista, and 7 running on different computers in our house! I like Windows 7 much more than Vista (we've had lots of problems with Vista, but it might be the machine it's running on), and I would take XP over anything except 7 any day.

windows 7 is nothing like windows VISTA. VISTA SUCKS!!!! everyone knows that. i have windows 7 and it is beyond great. it is way more responsive and faster. all these vista fans have no clue.

I wouldn't say its going to save the brand, nor is it another failed attempt. Its nice, smooth, looks great and has improved my user effieciency. On the other hand, that is what I expect from an OS, that resembles what Vista should have been like. I like it.

I personaly like windows vista. It makes sure that there arn't any unknown actions going on. The multi level security prompt is a good thing for me.

It IS Vista. It's pretty much just an update to Vista. What I do like is that the main improvements are to the framework - getting rid of the biggest Vista problems. You're still better with Windows 7.

I'm not going to change from XP until DirectX 10.1 or w/e becomes a requirement for games and 64 bit software/drivers will be almost impossible not to find. I like the performance of XP and hate how slow Vista is on my laptop, it means I don't have to have more expensive and better hardware just to counteract the operating system's performance hit. In a couple of years I'll get Windows 7, without a doubt, until then I'll be with my good 'ol Windows XP

I have the WIndows 7 Proffesional x86.. I can get this, because my school pays Microsoft.. But W 7 is 100 times better than vista! I really recommend it!

Simply, Windows 7 is Vista done right.

When I got Vista OEM on a laptop 2 years ago, it was shockingly slow. The machine is a Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM, and Vista took ~3 minutes to boot on it.

I got the Windows 7 Release Canditate 2 and, on the same computer, it boots in around 45 seconds. It's so much faster, and the common "so-and-so has stopped responding" messages that I got all the time on Vista never appear on W7.

I've got both XP and Vista 64bit, and I've currently got Vista installed, the 2nd time I've installed it, and I really think i'll end up going back to XP again, I just think its, for me, better overall.

So I can't see myself getting Windows 7 in the foreseeable future.

I am not an expert, but I hear the code is different. I guess it's a good system, providing you have the right hardware. I wouldn't recommend les than 4 GB of memory for it.

i used windows 7 and hated it. none of the drivers were compatible with my computer and the aero theme didn't work for me. i should mention that my computer is 6 year old laptop

In early times of develpoing Windows 7, microsoft have stated "Were traking down Vista's built flaws, fixing them, which will be Win 7, with some feedback changes.

I used "Win 7 Beta"( not RC1) for 5 months, it was way much faster, better, easier, stabler than Vista.

So the official Win 7 will be important an OS.

Wow, check out this guy, he just now realizes that Windows 7 is NOT a completely new OS. From the beginning Microsoft said that Windows 7 will be what Vista wasn't. It will be a robust OS that runs on minimal hardware with much improved security and will sport an updated UI. It will also add some new features over Vista and remove some unnecessary ones / give users the ability to install things as they see fit. I would just focus on flight sims cuz this CMPlive ain't working out for you.

I think the opinion will be divided between those who migrated to Vista, and those (like me) who have stuck with XP. I've read a lot of great things about 7, and if it is just a 'fixed' version of Vista, that won't affect my decision to buy it because I never had Vista in the first place. However, I think Vista users might be a little upset if they think that the improvements and fixes of 7 should actually have been released as a service pack for Vista (or built into the original release!).

my computer shipped with vista, i changed to xp because vista sucks. i already notice big improvements in performance and compatibility. vista sucks, and i dont think im going to go for windows 7 either. any new features really arent nessesary, and you cant get better compatibility or speed from a fine tuned xp system.

Eventually, when you get a new computer, and it comes with something newer than XP, and you go back to XP, you may find that it just won't work, XP support is coming to end, so new hardware and their drivers will not be available for XP.

It's not Vista with a few things changed. Cessna154, you're wrong when you say that Vista has no issues for you and that Windows 7 is Vista with a few new features. I used the RC and it performs almost better than XP. It's not all about the GUI and features, it's about compatibility, performance, etc. Windows 7 is not what you make it sound to be.

Well for one thing, Win7 is alot less buggier. They cleaned it up a whole lot. It also uses less resources to get the same job done. Basically, it has more speed. The only issue I have with it right now is compatability. But, it is only in Release Candidate stage, so that makes sense. Other than that, Win7 is wonderful. Though, If you have XP, Stay with it. XP is better than both at the moment. Wait until WIn7 comes out.

i think windows made a bad move when they released winwows vista because many average joe's did not know if or how they could upgrade. i think that windows 7 is kindah a life support for microsoft. i personally think they rushed it out when apple came out with all of ther fancy snow leopard operating systems. windows 7 is like vista in many ways. the main one is performance. many people could not upgrade from xp to vista because it sucked up SO much of your computer. i personally like windows 7 because it is a lot faster for mid - to - low end systems. the only thing is that i want to wait and see how the new drivers for graficx cards will turn out. so i say windows 7. olso,

I dont think Vista "ruined" Windows. Every company puts out a crappy product every once in a while. I think people bashed on Microsoft for creating Vista and think that their rep is ruined. They're just overreacting in my opinion.

It's spelled, rumor. I'll never try Vista just based off the fact that most every game, if not every game requires higher system specs if you have Vista compared to XP. I may try windows 7 if there's a trial version out in 5 months. If there isn't a trial and if my computer doesn't come with Windows 7 installed then I won't waste my time and money. I've always used XP and I like it so I'll stick to it.

I have tested the Beta and RC of Windows 7, the 32bit version has a minimum of 16GB, and the 64bit has a minimum of 20GB.

Windows Vista install nowhere this small.

Windows 7 has been completely re-coded, while using some of the code from Vista, but not all of it, and that's why Windows 7 installs 1/3 to 1/4 smaller than Vista, while maintaining all the features, plus more. I had a great performance increase over Vista, when I tested the RC.

I think Windows 7 is a big improvement over Vista, it's the combination of XP performance, with Vista's look, while adding it's own custom looks, etc. I have tested Windows 7 RC, and I was blown away.
