  • Sorry balls of steel

    Stupid auto correct on iPhone

  • Balls if steel

  • 17.5 m/s = 39 mph

  • 17.5 m/s = 39 mph

  • My question isn't about driving upside down, but rather how on Earth do you manage to get a car into a sewer?

  • @jbdtaylor Take it apart and reconstruct it inside the tunnel, obviously.

  • this puts a smile on my face

  • 17m/s = little over 100 mph

  • @zepiti1 100mph = 44m/s

  • @zepiti1 I'd love to see how you came to that result.

  • 1:27 lamps in tunnel to provide better light for film. Then none for the flip but orange/red light behind. Creative editing

  • this was damn funny... piece of shitty car

  • You people know he wasnt in that car right....

  • If you look closely, you can tell it is animated. The insurance company would never allow such a reckless stunt. Why no inside shot? Fucking idiots.

  • @Jay18Jay You know there's footage of him filling out insurance documents or something before they did this? Even if it were to go wrong 37MPH accident in that environment wouldn't do much harm at all ...

  • Bloody marvelous!

  • The Italian Job right there

  • Wow, they used Gears of War's "Train Wreck (Locust Theme)" track in this clip as the BGM.

  • why would it be faked when its obviously simple to do in a perfectly circular and smooth tube, its not even dangerous if it went wrong - whats the worst that could happen, he might bump his helmetted head on the ceiling.

  • hmm i recomend purchasers of the car not to make a habit of trying that lol

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • how the hell did he get the car in there

  • Obviously it's not faked cause he fucked it up majorly and almost crashed. If it was faked it would've gone around perfectly.

  • ok fifth gear is better if u want a true comparisson between cars or real benchmark testing. top gear is purely for fun and those challenges... they pretty much ALWAYS CHEAT and of course that cheating still counts in the final points. but i prefer top gear for the crew(great trio, especially jeremy) and the fun. and im pretty sure that is NOT fake if it were fake for one: the car would have done it all the way up, not tip over in mid-air

  • ...that was very anti-climatic

  • fake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @danonino2511 no its not, the car just kind of punced upside down, if it where fake it would be showing the car driving upside down for more than 20 seconds or so

  • @danonino2511 If this is fake, then you're gay

  • press 8 for tarzan scream

  • I cant believe people think this is real. 1) if it was real there would have been a big piece on it rather than a quick 2 minute video 2) The only safety equipment he had was a helmet - much more would have been used should it go wrong

    3) Doing a bit of maths the 17m/s required is vertical acceleration not horizontal i.e directly up the pipe rather than along and up.

    4) it was done in the dark so the special effects were easier to create

    5) no inside shot was filmed so more CGI was not needed

  • @sykesrobin

It was real. and you cannot believe it is because you probably have love for fifth gear or another car reviews show. All the talk he was saying mathematically was as usual for comedic purposes. Maybe it was not him driving but i can assure you the car did spin around. Reason it was 2 minutes was because maybe in fifth gear they would do an hour but top gear is so good they couldn't wast over 2 minutes on just this.

~don't need a Hollywood special effects major to answer that.

  • @yochickwantsme Top gear is far better than fifth gear so i agree with you there - however the majority of top gear now is staged which isn't a bad thing because it keeps it interesting. you cant deny the maths, it was not possibly at the speed he was going.

  • @yochickwantsme i loveeeeeee Top Gear, but this was fake! Look, in 1:26 they have lights on the wall, but in 1:29 and in 1:30 they don't have lights on a wall... So?

  • This is batman's driveway

  • LOOK: 1:31 : no lights on the side; then 1:33 Lights !

  • @TheRomichou he did not do that! its edited so you would think that he did that!

  • Gears of War theme?

  • The Gumpert has enough downforce to go upside down in a tunnel but this tunnel here is too small and the Gumpert is too wide and low. The whole car will be scratched like hell.

  • LOCUST!

  • the lights on the side disappear when the car is flipping...hmm

  • ¡¡¡ sıɥʇ op ʇ`uɐɔ ʎɯǝɹǝɾ ʇǝq ı ʇnq ˙ןooɔ sɐʍ ʇɐɥʇ ʞo

  • @throwingknifeladd how do you type upside-down characters?

  • @imurboogeyman2 how u have done in tell us plzzzz..

  • That cant be Belfast sewer

  • gears of war music!

  • doesnt the saleen s7 claim to be able to do this

  • @divine101 no idea about the s7 but the veyron claims to do this in a bigger road tunnel at over 200 mph, bbc hopes they can show wether this theory is corrrect this year

  • lol sounds like some 1 jackn off if u hit the 9 really fast on ur keyboard:P

  • Jeremy looks scared listen to his voice .. :)

  • this is obviously fake due to the lack of saftey roll cage or harnesses etc

  • how the hell did they get the car down their

  • 17.5 meters per second multiplied by 3.6 equals 63 kilometers per hour

63 divided by 1.6 equals 39.4 miles per hour

so he was pretty close with his guess

  • @mcabz1 that would = ftw

  • an F1 car creates so much downforce that it could drive upside in the tunnel with no problems

  • @hercegovac00 Except that engines need gravity for the oiling system and fuel pickups to work, upside down with no oil pressure a formula one engine would eat itself very quickly.

  • @hug8501624

I'm not saying someone should do it,I'm just sayin' it's possible because of the downforce

  • possibly a nitrogen powered car cannon?

  • Well that was epic.

  • unbelievable... seriously?... renault twingo?

  • well that math is all wrong, 17.5fps is equal to 11mph.........

  • @gear15100

17.5 Meters per second, not feet.

  • Oh.

  • I bet he didnt do this stunt himself

  • My turds go down there!! lol

  • The music is from Gears of War EPIC

  • @kuraimauri

    that's the best thing

  • 1:29 is EPIC

  • If this goes wrong,I'm in deep shit......

  • atom

  • What would happen if they crashed it, not good

  • so this is the car for me. thank you top gear

  • howwwwww did they not use mini's in true italian job style? (the orignial)

  • xD

    DO A BARREL ROLL!!!!

  • 17,5 m/s is 39,14639

  • 17m/s is not 37mph - never. How could he be so stupid?

  • @mrbeanaswell it's 37.944 he's right

  • @mrbeanaswell Give him a break he was 1 mph away, what result did you get when you did the maths?

  • seriously, gears of war music?

  • @strikefiggt they use all kinds of movie and video game music in this show, they don't care where it's from as long as it's EPIC.

  • @Andreask93 I know they, I've been watching the show from the beginning, never heard Gears of War music. :)

  • Looks like CGI

  • wow that is soo cool :o

I thought it would go :P

  • sooo fake.. tubelights present just before the loop, absent during the loop, and the lights appear again just after the loop... nyways,it was a nice try.>>>

  • @electroneal maybe they did it twice ;)

  • @axe456 hmm,seems like it! lolz ;))

  • @electroneal maybe they waited for a piece of the tunnel where there were no lights

  • He sounds well nervous when he was talking about the metres per second and the speed he needs to be going

  • lol whats with the gears of war music?

  • I LOVE it!

  • I believe Top Gear did this stunt, but not with Jeremy driving.

  • ok he is being pretty obvious at this being fake, and when the car flips the tunnel has no lights then magic they are there again. funny as shit though gotta love jeremy

  • !! and they said ! merceds facked that tunnel video

! if they do it with fucjing shity car !! what abpout the merceds sls !!

  • wow.....I have forgotten how stupid people can be. If he really wanted to go upside down he would need a fuel/oil system that was injected and he would have to maintain posotive g loading throughout the maneuver and i can tell you that 37 mph is not enough to sustain posotive g trough a barrel roll as was demonstrated. He also ended up rather sideways as he landed and on a Twingo like that the suspension isnt strong enough on th wheel that he landed on to keep the car upright. Honestly people...

  • @Wells1955ATC maybe... it was MODIFIED? O.o

  • @gnashalot No spoiler. So.........nopeeee coudlnt hold itself inverted at all. Infact a car like that has very very little, if any, downforce.

  • @Wells1955ATC hmm.. i saw a video from fifth gear a while ago, where they got a toyota aygo to do a loop the loop. all they did was beef up the suspension, no spoilers or downforce. it managed to do it cos it was going at a suitable speed

my point is that the fifth gear and top gear videos are quite similar, so maybe the speed / velocity was enough... =]

  • he was so close with the m/s - mph conversion; it was actually 39 mph

  • epic

  • very cool. i think it would've been cooler to see the car actually driving on the tunnel ceiling and throughout the entire loop. i was hoping for something else, but this will definitely do.

  • Well I don't know about 37... The Doc stated you need to be going 88 mph for this to work.

  • @StarkRavingMadFilm Good one! XD

  • I think it was done with a stunt driver...

  • @lotsofotherstuff totally agree, Jeremy is a very good driver, and very brave too, but this just don't seems to me like he would be doing it.

  • ...How did he get out of the sewers, though.

  • @agentrockluxury

    They flushed him out :)

  • It's cool, but it probably wasn't don in one take, because they are filming him from every side and you don't see cameras anywhere -.-

  • they should take the Gumpert down thier

  • @HamboneV1 lol ... that would be like : accellerate .... oh u already died .

  • @HamboneV1 1 problem with that, it wouldn't fit :P

  • oh my god. that scared the crap out of me. that. was. AWESOME.

  • so i will admit i love top gear, but that was fake, im sorry. first off the tunnel in which he actually flipped had no white lights in it, unlike the tunnel he was driving in. it was done purely to be funny and that is all

  • Lol GOW music

  • Amazing ........

  • Gears of War music?

  • ok first off its not fake.... and even if this experiment went wrong he wouldnt even be hurt hes going 37!

  • He wasn't inside¡¡

  • WOAH! THAT'S SCARY!

  • the music... the music its from Gears of War!... awesome,,

  • I read that the average F1 car car stick to the ceiling at a very low 160 Km/hr -- they are light I guess and have loads of downforce...

  • epic choice for an epic game gears and a epic show of war train wreck track

  • There's not much aerodynamics in play here.... He just transferred the car's momentum from a straight line into centrifugal force and a lil more momentum and he could have pulled it off Perfect. Its Not fake.

  • @ethan999oz

    Wow... (o.0).... :D

  • apparently the Saleen S7 has so much downforce that it could literally stick to the cieling. it's something to do with the aerodynamics on the underside of the car creating a vacumn that pulls the car down. i forget exactly how fast you have to go, though.

  • @americantorino quite a few supercars can technically do that

  • @americantorino Same with the Carrera GT and Enzo aswell. I believe there are a few more cars that can.

  • loving the gears of war music!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is clearly a fake! The car seems to turn like in a computer game !

  • @Loosystefan not fake.. thats what it llooks like in a tunnel butt head

  • @Loosystefan Difficult though it may be, use your brain! Its the BBC, they cannot afford to screw their reputation by "faking" something or anything.

If they couldn't do something like that, they wouldn't gamble one of their most profitable programs on it, they simply wouldn't do it – and guess what, just as many people would still watch Top Gear!

They may "stage" it, because their not going to risk the lives of a presenter on something that may or may not work, but its certainly not fake.

  • @Hobbit944 I agree that the flip itself is real but its not Jeremy Clarkson doing and definetly not in the same tunel if you watch closely on his left side there were lamps, but when the car flipped there weren't any and the red light in the distance behind the car apeared.

  • @raidosis No, all that means is that they didn't film the forward viewing bit at the same time, which I can believe. Why is everyone convinced that Top Gear is always faked...

  • @raidosis

    who gives

  • @raidosis That red Light is some Video Effect that TG is known to be fond of doing.... and Clarkson cant do that since he's a Child and an Utter Plonker XD but it is most definately real.

  • @raidosis I think Clarkson really did do it. Hes is mad enough :)

  • @raidosis One could also argue that that's just a minor detail considering that the video was edited after it was shot. Maybe they put some early scenes near the later ones. Your version is still plausible though.

  • @Hobbit944 it s fake you stupid fuck...the said its fake

  • @Hobbit944 its fake, compare the tunnel to when he does the flip to before/after he does it. when he is doing it, there are no lights attached to the side of the tunnel whereas before/after he does it, there are lights in the tunnel. go figure

  • thumbs up to the Gears of War music in the background!

  • that was beyond legit

  • Um... since when do sewers need lights all along them? And have lighting that turns red when something exciting happens in them?

  • @EWAdams

Holy shit, man, it was production lighting for the shoot.

  • @EWAdams they all do that, the ninja turtles had em installed:P

  • would of been funnier if Jeremy said "I think it's about 88 mph"

  • what dose 17m/s have to do with it shouldnt u just go as fast as u can an he dident even drive up side down he simply fell over an happan to land on the wheels i say he failed he bearly made it to the 90 degree mark 100 maby

  • @supershard555 No, as with any car looping situation you need to drive in a specific speed window or it won't work.

  • Its not fake, but i doubt Clarckson was in the car during the jump

  • try to just make continious loops arownd the tunnel that will be just outrageous nice vid

  • nice to see renaults are still Light cool Sexy little hot hatches again....

  • and in just a second...there's no camera inside the car..hmmmm

  • @Kevinapri lol the irony is that in the next part of the test, they do pretty much wreck it.

  • sonofabitch I love Jeremy Clarkson!

  • worryingly, he miscalculates the speed he needs. It's over 39mph not 37.

  • @wolfmankurd he calculates it correctly in m/s.

  • @bkittrell 17.5m/s = 39.1mph

  • @wolfmankurd I just meant that approx 17 m/s should be the right speed to go, not that it is 37 instead of 39

  • so what was in the front of the this car agian? ....yeah that was fake the sparks and everything was very fake haha

  • Just genius xD lol

  • UR stupid :P dude, if you know even a bit 'bout TopGear: they don't fake =p

  • ppl say that you can drive up side down in a tunnel with f1 car cuz its generates so much downforce

  • Well with science you can prove it that the downfore is more than gravity so yes you can. same with a saleen 27 twin turbo.

  • but its never actually been tested cuz no one wants to risk there life for a science expirement, that would be cool to see tho

  • @JuKa3177

If you watch Top Gear enough you'd know Gumpert has already found an ideal tunnel to prove their car has enough aero to drive upside down on the roof of the tunnel. I guess we're just waiting on that. lol.

  • @Ryota195 i know that they say gumpert can generate enough downforce to drive upside down but i never knew they had a place to test it in

  • DO A BARR-

    all clear

  • Nice, gears soundtrack

  • Oh Shit! The car did actually flip! That was so cool!

  • LMAO GEARSSS

  • man thats so false.. the seatbelt the inside of the car. should been better prepared

  • The soundtrack that is used is from Gears of War ^^

  • THe only reason i think this is fake is because he went UPSIDE DOWN in a tunnel! thats a big deal, right? So wouldn't they've played that up a little more? Ya know, replay it from an angle inside the car, slow motion. But instead, they show one angle of it one time. That seems odd to me.

  • The channle is not available in my country wtf?

  • ha. i was just logging in to say that i didnt reckon that was clarkson in the car

  • @AlkalineDyl i agree, also, there were many lights on the side but when the flip is made all the lights are missing! haha
