  • FROYO FTW!!!!!!!!

  • It's not really a fair test though, android devices have all different hardware

  • Crappy test. Froyo downloads web pages directly, while HD2's Opera uses Opera's servers to compress web pages, pictures, etc. (It slows down downloading, but you download less data). So comparison was made unprofessionally.

The giroscope in Froyo's cell phone is set differently, than in other two cell phones; therefore, it looks like it is faster than others.

  • @dexiPL

Opera Mobile only does that if "Opera Turbo" is enabled in the settings.

  • wouldnt the speeds also depend on the proccessor speed?

  • This video doesn't have any credibility since you are just using your eyes. Need advanced testing and same conditions and accurate timing.

  • Android is still not buttery smooth like iOS. Unfortunately...

  • @barecomb True, true... But, Android gives much more. Android is open source, you can modify it how you want, the iOS otherwise, is most closed source ive seen.

  • @barecomb So to use iPhone, you need Mac computer to connect iphone to computer and to use bluetooth, you need 2 iphones to connect with bluetooth. Unwise like android you can connect it with anything, but not with iPhone, ofc.

  • When the Chrome browser hits Android we should have an even faster browser thanks to its V8 engine

  • @BenJEMean It's like, you look to an android device, only on looks you KNOW that is an work device, an iPhone you look and you see a Toy.

  • Compare the iphone 4 and the captivate!

  • @gir489 he did

  • turn the brightness up on iphone the dim makes it look like shit!! thats not even the new iphone so ha!

  • add me in gangwars android

    6A371

  • i think you should use a phone with official froyo because for some reason that nexus still seems slow

  • The HTC looks pretty :)

  • htc best

  • iPhone = God to show to your friends

    Android = Good to work

    #FACT

  • @Mrxdyuxd what do you mean by work? the iPhone wins in the productivity app department.

  • @siliconsurf retarded fag

  • @theandroinvader that's all you got for a comeback?

  • i love all the apple fanboys trying to justify that apple is getting left behind by the more competitive android market

  • Fcked...

  • rofl those 24 dislikers must be iphone users! hahahaha dont you guys have some calls to drop by holding your phone to talk?

  • Comment removed

  • haha wow my rooted 1.1ghz droid beat all three by 6 secs. well i am rooted so... ya know... those three are at their stock processor speeds. still cool though. love my droid!!!!!!!! err... i mean robot!

  • hey try to make a round 3 with nokia n8, i wanna see how symbian web browser perform b4 i decided 2 buy it or buy a android

  • looks like the iphone does pretty good considering the huge disadvantage in both cpu and ram...

  • Interference when the phones are jammed together so close.. the middle one has a disadvantage.

i would like to see the same test with the phones a foot or so apart.

    :)

    Just my 2 C

    Any comments ?

  • i done this speed test with my desire on 2.2 whilst this video was running and i started loading page same time with flash on and mine loaded 3 seconds quicker on the first page this dude loaded and i was on 3g, so this vid does not show how quick 2.2 is.

  • should have use the htc desire to compare its the best phone out there

  • The hTC HD2 actually looks like it has the smoothest scrolling. I'm impressed.

  • @TrolloftheTube see Samsung i9000 Galaxy S

  • @shuan1210 lol this is what happens when people laugh at google's pet projects.

  • blame at&t on the dropped calls...you'll need a bumper or cover anyway if you actually give a shit about protecting your phone from getting damaged.

  • and this is why my hd2 is running froyo, best of both worlds. awesome hardware+awesome os=WIN

  • iphone 4 wins...

  • Comment removed

  • @siliconsurf dude iphone 4 up against a desire hd or a galaxy it will get raped

  • @mozz0011

desire hd has the same processor right?

    Why would it be faster?

I'm looking to upgrade to desire hd in the future...

  • @Guybrush369 the desire hd has a different faster processor actually

  • @Guybrush369

    Its processor is newer.

  • ..i like it ..keep doin good job ;)

  • The nexus one lags like hell. The HD2 looks smooth!

  • when can i install android 2.2 on samsung galaxy i7500?

    pls answer me

    10x

  • stupid comparision

  • Notice how much better the AMOLED screen on the Nexus One looks compared to the iPhone and HD2.

  • Froyo's faster than the year old 3GS? OH MY GAWD. I'm shocked.

  • @Doctors2Advocate it had ios4 installed on it

  • @Doctors2Advocate Should be faster than the Iphone 4 too... But we'll see.

The Iphone 4 is underclocked A4 processor. Snapdragons/Omap/Hummingbird processors in HTC/Droids/Galaxy S phones should be on par, if not sometimes better.

  • @Doctors2Advocate They are all phones that are quite old.

  • This is stupid.

Has anyone tried to download something at the same time on 2PC's using same WiFi connection. It will NEVER give the same speed for both PC's

If you want to test how fast things are opened you need to divide that connection to equal speeds otherwise it depends on how the device is communicating with the router (example look at preview of iPhone4 Jobbs could not even open a page cos everyone was on the same wifi connection and pages either ddnt load or load very slowly)

  • one info to note Opera is a pretty good browser I think you should try it out on froyo was well speeds should look pretty good, if you havent used it in this vid already.

  • i think this guy hates the iphone 3gs hahahaa

  • htc hd 2 pwns

  • you have iOS4 installed in the 3gs, but you didnt use the iphone 4... it'll only make a fair test with the iphone 4 and its safari?

  • @djrx2k iPhone 4 wasn't out at the time genius -_-

  • well it's fast alright but it doesn't really strike me

  • He miss something.. Iphone always was the first that starts and first that loads first 2.. but he forgot about the 1 / 2 second/s delay

  • Is there any way to turn flash off but not uninstall it?

  • this is so unscientific, reasons:

-Images were probably already cached on one, two or all three devices.

-The problem with the CNET full site not loading is probably or a problem with the beta (ya, a beta) or the CNET site itself (i guess the 2nd)

And much more reasons, not loading at the same time, same specs, etc etc etc

  • can't wait to have froyo in my motorola droid

  • @xerameosovo yea that wont happen until the end of july. i have a droid as well and i have been waiting for a while

  • @FJCM91 haha july isnt soo far you know and dont complain about it, I live in brazil, wich means that I will have froyo (being really optimistic) in the end of october :/

  • i would respect the hd2 more if it had android and not windows mobile

  • @FJCM91 tr000000000

  • android>all

    fuck iphone

  • noone mentioned that android also loads the animated gifs, which i imagine are skipped by the other two browsers. that could explain it losing the first few tests

  • @ceilingkatt

iphone skips but the hd2 browser loads flash and animated gifs

  • @ceilingkatt i still wouldn't say the browsers on android is faster, because iphone's processor is slower.

  • please stop comparing normal websites with adds!!!!! cause the external adds frack up the tests with long pings etc... build a site just for tests and test it..

  • could you try running the browsers on the nexus? i want to see opera mobile 10 on froyo :)

  • android will have a lot more apps to choose from a year from now because its open source Im not sure if that means they will be better either way (customers win in the long run.. competition!)

iphone has better keyboard android keyboard feels very cramped they need to fix that. iphone also has a much better touch screen as far as scrolling, pinch to zoom and double tap for web searching

last point... 3GS has a slower processor than these phones tough to compare speeds

  • No wonder, you've used Opera Mini on HD2 which is way faster than Nexus browser.

  • @shuan1210 Android is so awesome. And it's growing incredibly fast!

  • i took out a contract this year so i cant buy android. i hate contracts so much. o well in 20 months ill probably end up with android. i think apple are trying to innovate in different ways but i think flash is still good and the way technology is going is to perfect it on the mobile platform and not to adopt html 5. whatever

  • But the Opera Mobile that the windows based phone is using can use Opera Turbo that basic get opera servers to compress the webpage and then send it to you.

And that makes pages load faster.

    So it that feature disabled?

  • Fantastic review!

  • Rofl, I feel soo good when he puts the iPhone aside when it won't load CNet full site xD instant 5/5

  • Almost all of the colors on the Nexus One are a whole lot brighter and more colorful, I lovers it:)

  • Try this test with te iphone 4 it will blow your android device out of the water

  • @delacosa he said in the first video he was using 4.0 beta on the 3gs but google didn't say it was the fastest browser with flash vs. iphone 4.0 they said it was faster than any phone browser out as in at the time at point they tested. stop being fanboys!

  • @waxxtwo Regardless of what he might have said, that is clearly not any 4.0 Beta, you can tell, when he types an address into the browser. I think it is not about being a fanboy, but rather using more comparable OS'es. The hardware can stay the same, but Android 2.2 isn't on all Android devices yet, either so it would be more fair to retest this with iOS 4.0 GM versus Android 2.2 :)

  • @AppleManifesto no. there are so many fanboys up here. anytime some device has a good feature they go "o what ever my iphone is still better" a phone could automatically get a girls number and to them the iphone would still be better. but even if it is or isn't iphone 4.0 beta, android 2.2 is beta too. that's why other devices don't have it yet. the speed is to show which is faster but at the end of the day poeple are gonna go with the device they like. and these are all great devices

  • make another comparison when Os 4 comes out in june 24th and it'll be the fastest one!

  • Love android and looking forward to get (al least) eclair on my tatto. But why is the froyo browser sometimes scroling ultra-smoothly and sometimes not? I thought it would be same or better than the iphone, but safari always is smooth, and froyo few times slowed down. :S

  • 1:34 to see what i mean

  • Damn the HTC is fugly

  • *AHEM* your testing a non official version of froyo by the way,,,,the official version is not yet released. These results are very inacurate. Especially since I tested my Nexus One against my friends Iphone 3g on multiple sites using Android 2.1. Beat the Iphone 3gs everytime. So please don't test an un official version.

  • everything was good

  • What's the middle phone?

  • @BBoyMerciless HTC Nexus One

  • @tazmanpunk Google Nexus One (A)

  • See, the iPhone just lost

  • dont use nexus one for the test its slow as hell use an evo

  • @possomcrast lol u know the Evo has the exact same processor plus Sense Ui which I know slows it down some, but the question should be why is he using Wifi to test the speeds an not the actual network connections or at least both

  • @sajohnson09 but nexus one is less optimized then sense sense is very very quick soooooooo and nexus software is pretty slow

  • @possomcrast I'd say I think the sense thing was slow but then again thats cause the only way I can use it is through a custom rom, but being that aside Froyo is definitely much faster than Eclair, this guy probably only used it to test out Froyo, kind of sux Htc doesn't have a Sense Ui build for it yet but well one day

  • @possomcrast Did you watched finished the video? Apparently you didn't. Nexus one with froyo 2.2 won. :D. Android for the win.:)

  • the screen of the htc looks HUGE!!!

  • @elbacatran12 it IS huge, i have one... just awesome!

but im going to sell it, get an htc desire, because you find nearly no good software for winmo

  • is the iphone jailbroken or is it just running on firmware 4.0? Because theres a background on the homescreen

  • the iphone couldn't even view the full cnet browser and it looks fuzzy next to the other phones they really need to step up to plate with the 4g

  • wow... iphone screen sucks

  • Can someone tell me why the iPhone's screen scrolling always looks much more smoother? Perhaps the difference is negligible to some, but I notice it?

  • @Jinto117 the scrolling is smoother but look at the distance the screen scrolls on the iphone. With the same flick the screen goes much farther on the nexus one. With a strong flick look at how much the screen scrolls on the nexus one. The iphone can not do this. It might be a performance thing where they wanted things to be quicker and more snappy.

  • @Jinto117 I think in animation to get smooth animations you need higher frame rate, but his also cause higher strain on processor, performance, battery. Less frame rate is less smooth but also less work your device has to do to animate the screen. I think thats why the nexus one can scroll so much of the screen vs iphone with the same flick.

  • @Jinto117

Safari on my itouch is alooot smother than the android browser , its not just you.

  • At 7:19, obviously Froyo is faster, the screen rotation is not animated.

  • Android is only gonna get better.

  • why is he not using the the native HD2 browser?

  • @easifuentes he also could use the SKYFIRE browser, which is acutally the fastest available... im pretty sure it would beat even the froyo one ;)

    and it supports flash btw

  • dude who cares about which one is faster

  • whys iphone showing the checkerboard in the browser? i thought it didnt show that...apple lied? i dont believe it!

  • You can choose desktop in android so it always go to desktop version of the website ;)

Try Dolphin HD it's free on the android marketplace.

  • LOL!!! 5:07 So anyhow... -pushes iphone to the side- ahhah

  • This is a sign of things to come. Yes the iPhone (currently) has more apps and nice hardware and interface. But with Android making leaps and bounds daily, coupled with their increasing application count, open platform, multiple carriers, cutting edge hardware, multiple handsets and overall choice, the smart money is on ANDROID.

  • android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android android

  • hd2 is still the smoothest one in scrolling.

  • @asianoutcast87

HAHA! yeah that checker board pattern looked real smooth on the hd2.

  • すごいはやい

  • Android FTW!

  • Not incredible as Google's claim! BTW, it seems that Froyo has not got along well with full flash support. in

  • whatever...they are all sexy still.

  • why are you running all three at the same time? thats tests the strongest wifi antenna and not actual speeds

  • doesn't seem very scientific test to me. were browser caches cleared? were wifi settings OK? did browsers have extensions/plugins set up?

  • The HD2 won the first two... does 1,2,3 ring any bell?

  • Should probably note that android is loading the whole web page, rather than only the portion around where your looking. then the rest as you scroll down.

  • I feel that android 2.2 is loading the pages a lot faster, just the bar does not complete. Even in the early examples I would say 2.2 won.

  • no shit u fucking retards why the fuck would u test it with flash enabled

  • @engion3 He was not really testing the speed but comparing the performance of Flash. The real speed test is in this video.

  • i was going get a mytouch slide but i just by showing me this i want the nexus 1

  • @ociel1988 you sir are a fucktard.

  • @ociel1988 based on what?

  • You are all thinking of opera mini.

On most HTC windows mobile phones

Opera mobile is the default browser.

Opera mini is the one that compresses everything.

  • opera has server side rendering, i'm not sure how it's use is relevant, but apparently the guy in this video doesn't know that.

  • long story short: they're all the same thing

  • Except opera isn't a stock browser, the pages are compressed first. Cheating?

  • This is pointless. You're not clicking at the same time!

  • Was this really calming to anyone else?

  • Lmao...So you just tested Opera vs Android browser. This test is void from the beginning. You're simply testing Opera vs another browser. Opera should win that every time since they compress web pages by 85% before it's sent to your phone. Put Opera on the N1 and test it vs Opera on the HD2 and then you have a valid test. Or, test IE vs the Android Browser. Opera on one N1 vs the Stock Android browser on another N1 will result in Opera winning every time.

  • @DumbestCrayon I agree, different browser on different hardware. What do he expect to benchmark?

  • @DumbestCrayon You're thinking of Opera Mini.

  • @phillaholic I know what it is, but the point is that if they're going to run the tests on multiple platforms they should at least use the same browser type. Opera is completely different from any other browser because of the compression that they use. The UI is what's so bad.

  • @DumbestCrayon Opera Mini is the one that uses the encryption. Their other browsers have the option, but it's not mandatory.

  • the hd2 screen is magnificent, just wait till the EVO comes out

  • @RocketOrganization it's big, but it's definitely not better than the nexus one's, the nexus one has a AMOLED screen and the hd2 and evo have regular lcd's, while they're larger the color depth is dramatically better on the nexus one, watch any variety of comparison videos

  • @shablaminablah the Evo has an amoled screen too

  • iPhone scrolling and zooming experience is MUCH smoother. I don't care if the page takes a second longer to load if I can have a good experience reading it. The laggy scrolling on the other hand is really annoying.

  • Also, this is running a jailbroken OS on the iPhone, it would be more suitable to run the iPhone 3GS with iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4 as a clean install and not the jailbreak PocketNow was running. Also, show when you clear the cache, cookies, and history, to make it a more valid test showcase. Also, I'm sure you can turn up the brightness on the 3GS :)

  • @AppleManifesto All valid points, expect for the brightness. I've got my Droid Eris and iPhone right next to me, and the screen on the iPhone is actually not as clear and dimmer.

  • haha the hd2 is kicking ass

  • Seriously, why do people care? For the sake of 10 seconds, is it really going to affect your life that much? It's all about personal preference so why do people have to spur up these arguments, there unnecessary.

  • @ChArLiE9321 I suppose people like to think that they're "preferences" are the more superior ones to that of others. Its silly really but I guess people will always act pretentious in one way or another.

  • @ChArLiE9321 yes that 10 seconds will effect my life.. combined that 10 seconds or more for the whole year.. you would see you have wasted alot of time waiting for the freakin phone.

  • @ChArLiE9321 I think it's more about the claims companies make trying to get sales by saying they're the fastest and best; provided people can put aside their emotions on what they are most comfortable with, its actually informative and somewhat enjoyable if you like this sort of thing. Ideally none of us should be loyal to any of these companies, and instead be more concerned on whats best for ourselves.

  • @ChArLiE9321 Very very true and most of the time slower web browsers are only slower by like a second or two.

  • ITT: Butthurt Apple fanboys.

  • olhem oque aconteceu com o menino:

    watch?v=fXsvCVFkEo8

  • Feels like he wanted the nexus to win. Brightest screen...plus the iphon 3GS has been out for a while...and it's still fighting with the new kid. With hay being said can't wait for the new iPhone to come out.

  • HD2 is the Best

  • Pointless.

  • @felizpuga not at all...

  • @kristoffers4 Um, actually yes, first of all, you don't need to install flash or use it. Secondly, how can you test the speed when they're so close in the rendering speed and sausage fingers can't seem to click them anywhere near simultaneously. Third off, the HD2 and N1 have a far higher resolution. Are any of the pages cached? Are they sharing the same wifi?

    POINTLESS.

  • Great video. Still I would like to make 3 points.

    1. Release date of software. Froyo: 10+ months after iPhone OS 3.0

    2. Release date of hardware. Nexus One: 6+ months after iPhone 3GS

    3. Hardware specs: Nexus one: Processor (+66% faster), 2xRAM compared to iPhone 3GS.

Having said that, it may be more correct to compare the Nexus One/Froyo combo with iPhone HD/iOS 4.0 when it come out in few weeks. They are closer in specs, release date and release dates.
