The Geneva Convention only protect uniformed soldiers, clearly marked as combatants. Most "talibans" I`ve seen on the telly is clad in traditional clothes weilding an AK or RPG, so I think most of us are glad that the US dosn`t follow the GC to the letter.

Anyone who knows what waterboarding is could not be unsure. It is a horrible torture technique used by Pol Pot and being used on Buddhist monks as we speak.
People who have worn the uniform and had the experience know that this is a terrible and odious practice and should never be condoned in the U.S. We are a better nation than that.

The Geneva Convention only protect uniformed soldiers, clearly marked as combatants. Most "talibans" I`ve seen on the telly is clad in traditional clothes weilding an AK or RPG, so I think most of us are glad that the US dosn`t follow the GC to the letter.

When a person is being confined to a caterpillar, spider, locust, beetle, and said person freaks out about it, it's called Entomophobia, or fear of insects. What about the soldiers who got screwed in this whole mess(Aubugraib)? I have heard Cheney whine about how poor Scooter didn't get a pardon ( even though he never spent a day in jail) while some of these guys are still sitting in jail for only following orders! What makes me most mad is that Bush and Cheney and Rumsfield and Rove all knew these guys were following orders and yet never came to their aid because they were to busy protecting their own asses. I remember when democrats mocked President Bush for 'only' joining Texas National Guard and praised John Kerry for his overseas service. Remember how they grilled Pres. Obama for not having any military service all the while honoring McCain's service? I was a sympathetic, pansy democrat in my early years but I got tired of feeling like a hypocrite. One day I'm for something and the next day I was against it. Finally, I just started thinking for myself and the rest came easy.

my beef is with being in iraq to begin with. I understood afganistan,but before we were finished we jumped into iraq. First it was wmd's, (which lots of countries have, north korea) then it was "well, we made the right decision based on the wrong information we received" but still not our fault right? Basically spending lots of money on a false war and nobody seemed to care until Obama came up with a rather expensive stimulus package and now everyone's up in arms. But where was everyone before?

No one is pleased when our govt. spends our money 4 us. But atleast some of that war money went to a good cause like set up shop in the taliban back yard to keep an eye on them and gain life saving intell and so forth But your Obama's so called stimulus package was just an inexperienced act from our affirmitive action posterboy president attempting to solve our economic crisis. Obama (although I don't necessarily agree w everthing) is spending money to fix a situation. Bush was spending money to kill people. The wrong people. And even when he was proven wrong he still refused to admit it. Again, one expenditure to fix, another to destroy. Say canada attacks europe and europe then attacks canada, but falls short, and then decides to set up shop in the US instead. is that right? just pick any neighboring country and hop in? because they're nearby?

The war, at best, should have only been confined to Afghanistan. We asked Afghanistan to serve up Al'Quaeda and they refused, so we went in there. But before we were finished, we decided to take a wrong turn in Iraq. What exactly do you expect Obama to do now that he's president & there are 2 wars? Pack everyone up & send them home, but then any instability that occurs would be considered his fault. I know, it stinks.
