like fear combat, i got 140~200fps at 2560x1600 max details with 4xAA 16xAF.

at 4.22ghz, when i use ripbot264 (100% cpu usage) the CPU stays cool at 60~62C degree

I failed to OC further than 4.22ghz.

I think my PSU @ 650W is not enough to juice the E8500 further than 4.22ghz; GTX 295, 4ghz DDR 1066mhz RAM, 3x1tb WD green HD, 300gb 10k rpm veliciraptor, creative faltal1ty sound card. I think I have to upgrade my PSU to 850W and try some GPU OC.

But xp doesn't support the direct -X 10 API. Your not gonna be able to use the DX10 features in Crysis.The hack is a joke, Im telling you that from a personal experience. Once you try Vista, you'll immediately notice the difference in in the visual quality.

And vista isn't that bad. I m running on a 64bit Ultimate and doing pretty fine.

the difference between i7 940 and Q9650 3.0ghz is not much. i7 has the same core, with 4 core natively and 4 hyperthreading as supposed to 9650 that has 2 dual cores E8400 glued together.

clock for clock i7 gain only 5% from 9650

You will need at least GTX 295 or ATI 4870 x2 for crysis at 2560x1600 on VERY HIGH. You see my GTX 295 struggle at 29fps. GTX 295 sli gets 54fps

If you think 2 i940 & single 4870 will "pawn" crysis, you're in for a big surprise. ATI 4870 512mb is weak card to begin with. Why didn't apple go with 1gb version? i guess they didn't think of gaming.

i read a single ATI 4870 1gb get 18fps crysis 2560x1600 on VERY HIGH. so 512mb might be a lot less. 18fps is very choppy for game play.
