I'm not sure why, but practically everyone at the time pronounced it Geninee instead of Gemini. You'd be hard pressed to find any footage from the time or even later interviews with those who were there where they pronounce it Gemini.

Odd I was in my mid-teens during that time and don't recall anyone calling the Gemini missions anything but Gem-In-Nee just like it's supposed to be pronounced.
