  • @freegie27 It was a joke, I was writing a paper on The Second Bishops’ war at the time.

  • @getsomelead

In that case, I offer my sincere apologies.

(I know the subject you're researching as it happens)

I've been looking at too many threads that have set me off.

    Sorry again.....Peace

  • @freegie27 no problem sarcasm is one of the hardest things to convey on the internet

  • @getsomelead

    I realise that mate.

I try to avoid making comments where I'm annoyed but sometimes there are only so many f** you, retard etc threads I read that it's easy to get angry and drop to their level.

I'm old enough to know better. :-(

  • @xluckyirish Thats not a bradley, its the canadian Light Armoured Vehicle, or as we call it the LAV III

  • @777puscifer either way its not an actual tank. thats all i'm gettin at. it can be a light armoured vehicle all it wants to be but it's still not a tank. ...still kudos to the piper for playin. :)

  • @xluckyirish its a lav III (Light Armored Vehicle version 3) and yes he is an awesome piper.

  • @xluckyirish Please research before posting false crap about our canadian military, Thank you very much

  • @ShadowDeathBl1tz *points at the comment made by 777puscifer* i figured they'd know their vehicles being canadian. so my apologies for thinking you all knew ur vehicles enough to make these comments worth a lick. but since we all know that these past few comments between me and the two of u, i figure u all are bored as hell. take care and try to get off the computer. * don't care what anyone says beyond this point & wont respond.* but really have a great day.

  • kevlar kilt and bagpipe to everyone!! :)

  • scottish and proud of it

  • Anybody recognize the cap badge? I know it's not the Canadian Scottish Regiment.

  • @tcooke26jun53

Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin, and Halton Regiment).

Based in Brampton, ON with companies in Oakville, Brampton, and Georgetown.

  • This is actually a LAV III not a tank...

  • As a Scottish-Canadian, I love this!!!! The Scottish culture is very important to us, especially in our military.

  • they should wear camo kilts

  • @mateivornicu ive been trying to convince my Band Officer the same thing

  • @mateivornicu but they wont cause they are canadian

  • thump up cool

  • This could only be more epic if he was playing when the tank is charging an enemy position.

  • @mylesdida Actually, it would be more epic if they were playing the pipes during a bayonet charge

  • @mylesdida

That would be bloody awesome to see!

  • @mylesdida

Wouldn't be the first bagpiper to charge an enemy :)

  • @mylesdida He is a Scot. He would do it.

  • @nandus1989 He is a Canadian

  • @bambuzledo Well, didn't you hear of Scottish Canadians?

  • @nandus1989 I am one

  • think you will find they are scottish pipes pal!

  • hi from 3 platoon wnsr aldershot love this vid..

  • ultimate bad-A

  • 222macgregor, yes the irish did wear kilts u dumbass, do your history then talk. you sound uneducated. the irish did copy the scotts by using pipes, but it is still used not just in america but all over the world to celebrate the irish...ouch, and your a canadian, thats why your sooooo mad isnt it?

  • 222macgregor, yes the irish did wear kilts u dumbass, do your history then talk. you sound uneducated. the irish did copy the scotts by using pipes, but it is still used not just in america but all over the world to celebrate the irish...

  • im Ex Black Watch.. I could listen to that all day long...good on you buddy.. 5 stars

  • seriously guys, theres even a fucking province called new scotland.. (nova scotia for all u dippys who didnt know what that meant en anglais)

  • The Irish have never worn kilts nor have they been known for playing the bagpipes.

The Great Highland Bagpipes was invented by the Scots and today is the most commonly used bagpipe.

The idiot American-Irish seem to think that kilts and bagpipes are Irish and there's nothing more stupid than seeing bagpipe bands playing the Highland Bagpipes and wearing Highland Kilts when they are supposed to be celebrating Ireland and Irish culture!

Would be cool if you'd stop copying our culture!

  • @222macgregor they're not "irish americans" they're plastic paddies

  • @222macgregor I understand your point of view, but I think there's a misunderstanding in both the ways you see them bands and the ways fans see them...It is more of a celtic-lovin' style I think. Maybe fans lack of information when they say that bagpipes and kilts are from Ireland, but try please to understand that they're celebrating celtic culture and not only Irish culture...

  • The Scots are the second largest immigrant to settle in Canada coming second to the French.

The Scottish culture has had a massive impact in Canadian society and is most celebrated in Canada.

    I'm a Scottish-Canadian!

  • Looks like he's standing on a LAV with a bushmaster cannon to me...only tanks we have are leopards I and II I think. What do I know..I'm a civie.

  • I can't tell. Are Scottish or Irish annoyed by Irish Americans wearing kilts? :)

Regardless, it might be a 'new' thing in the US but everything starts somewhere. I'm sure the Scot that started the tradition was looked on oddly at the time as well. I'm half Irish, my wife is Scottish and I was happy to wear a kilt for my wedding ... as well as torture my Italian, Japanese and Puerto Rican groomsmen by forcing them to wear them as well. :D

  • @saintdude1 If you want to wear a kilt wear one if you dont dont. The flatcap is a working class northern English hat but it didnt stop multi millionaire American brad pitt wearing one.

  • @saintdude1 The Irish saffron kilt was devloped int eh kate 19th century for regiments of the British army which was composedn mainly of ulster scots. The irish tartan kilt was devloped in the 1960s for the irish american market.

Stop blatantly lying and saying the kilt is historically irish because it is not. The irish do not nor have they ever worn kilts.

  • @kingdomofdalriada Relax sunshine. I never said the kilt is historically Irish ffs. As for the Irish not wearing kilts over in Ireland I couldn't tell you but in the states its something they picked up and ran with like it or not. Hell why should the Scots have all the fun? :D

Are folks really that bent that non Scots are wearing them? Christ on a pogo stick that's just plain silly.

  • black watch?

  • What is he standing there for?

  • @MonokelJohn Because he can! And you have to admit it looked kinda epic, except for the fact that hes in CADPAT and not Ceremonial (? Not sure of the term in the TO).

  • Outstanding!!!!

  • I am Canadian I wear the the uniform.

  • @Rebel232

    in canada

    the soldiers play bagpipes?

  • @torrente123456789 well ya in my town 3 quarters of the people are of direct Scottish decent

  • tanks with bagpipes!!! does it get more EPIC?!

  • 0:48 Top left baby, represent that flag!

  • Its not a bloody tanks its a LAV

  • I'd hate for that thing to fire while he's playing

Nah I'm just kidding very beautiful music

  • @akropiss lol, i was referring to the fact that I'm part Scottish, so I would be expected to know that lol.

  • This is a piper that is currently piping with the lorne scots peel dufferin Halton regiment pipes and drums out of Georgetown I know him personally but choose to protect his identity. He is one hundred percent scottish. He moved to Canada a number of years ago. Contact me with any questions and I will do my best to reply with a true scots answer

  • The native Irish were forced to abandon their own fashions by the normans. Previous to that descriptions suggest they probably wore brightly coloured tartan if they could afford it. Actual kilts in ireland (as in the modern ones) were first seen in the 18th century as an attempt at cultural revival. Noone would actually wear one on the street here... but then I've never seen them worn as casual wear on the few occasions I've been to scotland. They form a part of several official state uniforms.

  • "leine" means shirt in modern irish and the original garmend it refers to was probably something like a tunic (as was worn by men almost universally throughout europe for a good chunk of its history). The kilt evolved from a garmend that was essentially a big blanket wrapped around the legs and shoulders, it also doubles as a cloak which is handy.

  • I am a Scotsman and the irish dont wear fuckin kilts and also its called a Bagpiper, not bagpipe soldier

  • @washingtonboy09 True.

  • Hmm you kind of put all americans in one group.... First I am a North American from the US and yes I know who does and does not wear a kilt. Second America has a North South and Central.... You might not want to insult everyone...

  • i left a comment on here a long time ago... where someone disagreed with me that being scottish or being irish is a race!!! are argument was if we are irish blood and born in america does that make us cease to be irish.. i think we are all still irish and it definately is a race... it only depends on if you family mixxed with other poepel or not... mine did not.. everysingle one of my parents are irish.. there is definately a genetic identity not just a national identity !!!!!!

  • @brianferris88 The Scots and Irish are not a race when you use their nationality i.e- Scots or Irish we become a race when we are described as Celts , we are Celts along with the Welsh , as for American born Irish blood well what ever makes you happy you can call your self American /Irish all day long but you are not a Celt , freedom for all Celtic nations Hail Hail ,

  • Dam right the man is on a canadian tank and by the way in scottish and irsh and the irish never wore kilts

  • Comment removed

  • That's not a tank... it's a LAV III, and other Canadian soldier will tell you the same. Just saying...

  • @BaldMadHatter ...for the simpletons its just easier to say a tank haha

  • my mom was Irish and my da is Scottish ..

u will never see a Irish piper in a kilt unless hes pissed and wonted to see what 1 felt like to wear like my uncle did lolz ..long story very bad ending

but i agree fully @kingdomofalriada Irish = no kilt !

  • scottish bagpipes are the best of all

  • but seriously who taught this guy to play

  • Yes, he IS a Lorne Scots piper. And they are a reserve unit in the Canadian Army.

  • This is the ultimate display of manliness.

  • @Riotace07 except for the canadian part.

  • Comment removed

  • @venom462 agreed :|

  • There are Canadian Military members in various countries, including Iraq.

    They are called Liaison Officers.

The piper in the video is almost certainly from The Lorne Scots.

I can`t see the cap badge clearly but they are the only unit I know in Canada that have the yellow hackle.

  • @srbsask The hackle is primrose, not yellow. Good eye though.

  • WTG Bagpiper!

  • Those gracings are rather open for a Canadian, lol.

  • @TheMaleChauvinist heh; its like this... nobody gives a fuck.

  • @TheMaleChauvinist

I guess the news of 5 fallen Canadian soldiers that died the day you posted your hateful comment makes you happy.

You will get what you deserve, sooner or later.

  • True. Karma can be a real bitch.

  • The Canadian Army, which the U.S. has fought along side of, has been in EVERY major battle in history AND are presently deployed in Afghanistan/Iraq. And yes, that is a real tank.

  • @nephilium67

yup, canada was definently in the crusades, or any other battle before its existence.

  • @nephilium67

The Canadian army is NOT in Iraq. Stop saying bullshit.

  • Better check your facts before trying to prove someone wrong. The have been there since day one. Look it up.

  • I know my country and I also know Canada is not in Iraq. Britain and some maybe other foolish countries might have followed in Iraq you but we didn't. Look it up yourself.

  • I did in fact look it up before I even made a comment.

  • well you're wrong and that's that. Were did you hear this anyways ?

  • Oh, its this thing I found out that has the most information you can ever dream of. Its called "The Internet".

  • why whas going to iraq a bad idea?

  • @gretchenne My cousin is in Princess Patricias Light Infantry (Canadian) and has been stationed in Iraq. I know that one for a fact.

  • @anthonyawhite The PPCLI , ARE NOT STATIONED IN IRAQ !!! WELL, SOME MAY AS ALL NATO PERSONELL , BE SERVING AS OBSERVERS , THE Canadian PPCLI , ARE NOT IN IRAQ !!! THAT IS NOT PART OF THEIR DEPLOYMENT , SERVING WITH N.A.T.O PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT !!!!

  • Listen up bud, All I said was he is a member PPCLI and he is in IRAQ. I know for a fact he is there and as you said it maybe because he is attached to a NATO force. But don't post like a butt. I never said the whole unit was there just my cousin who happens to be a member. You need to take that rod out your ash..

  • I've just seen a video on youtube... "roadside bomb almost kills canadian in iraq" Now I don't know if he is with the British or with the Canadians. Check it out.

  • huh? there are no Canadians in iraq. Only in Afghan.

  • I don't know mate! I saw the title of the video on youtube. Maybe they got the countries wrong. What i read I wrote.

  • @johnmik67 THE video , you might have seen, mentioning a Canadian almost lilled by a roadside bomb , did not mean, that that Canadian, belonged to a Military unit, he was a diplomat

  • TheMaleChauvinist is a fag.. you know it.

  • Wow, take it easy half-skin flute. No one wants to hear from your pecker-holster.

  • made me think of the Devil's Brigade :)

    1st SSF front and center!

  • fuck off muslims ill fucking gut the lot of ya

  • The piper in this video is a Lorne Scot. which means that he's from the Halton region

  • hes not a scot at all, he is canadian

  • cnadians can be scots cultured tooo...what does it all mean??

  • No they cannot and if you knew anything about anthropology you would not be talking such garbage.

Culture is not passed down through generations only traditions are. culture is assimilated as every aspect of you life and peers.

If you do not come from scotland you are not scottish end of story.

  • i'm at a loss how politics and opinion can enter into something as simple and beautiful as a soldier playing the pipes..enough..if you don't like his playing or tuning etc, fine..but for jessus sakes quit fighting over nothing....by the way..a pint sounds good about now..

  • Indeed, Haggis- I laugh at their pathetic banter. They're talking politics and how too many people confuse Ireland and Scotland, while people who live in real life listen to the music.

  • i agree with yea laddy

  • rifledbarrel your a moron he wore the same thing the english soldiers wore

  • i love the bagpips im from cape breton

  • You people should all be ashamed of yourselves. How can you even find an arguement in this? It's a soldier playing the pipes on a tank...It's just doesn't get any cooler than this. the only thing he's missing is a pint.

  • Very few Scots were able to take on the whole English army...wait why use capitals...english army several times...just as the BOERS did in South Africa.. I am Canadian and I am ashamed of having the queen elizabeth on my dollar bills..things will change...now the english can't even overcome Islam within their own land.. Best of luck to ya England.

  • Wow, really, England has immigration problems?

Isn't Ontario and even Canada as a whole having the same issue, with the immigrants demanding sharia law courts?

  • William Wallace never wore a kilt.

  • Not true man, we don't really know. Not enough is known about William Wallace. But he was a Highlander

  • yes we do fucking know he didnt wear a kilt, the kilt was worn in the 16th century not the 13th,

and second he was not a highlander, he was a lowlander from the south of glasgow

  • But what the fuck would you know, your just an american.

  • americans know how to stop the germans from world domination...and we know how to kick the shit out of japs...now our government all fucked the hell up.

  • That was fuckin awesome...nice job.

  • damn canadians ruining the bagpiping experience

  • no offens bout my ears are bleeding sounds to false for me and i use to love bagpipes

  • Many Scottish soldiers from the 77th (Montomery Highlanders) and the 78th (Frasier Highlanders) settled on land grants in Canada when those Regiments were disbanded in North America after the French & Indian War rather than returning to Scotland. The is the reason there is so much Scottish influence in Canada and in the Canadian Army. BTW - the piper is playing on an "infantry fighting vehicle" - which is designed to carry and provide fire support to an infantry squad - rather than a tank.

  • was just in Toronto, first time in Canada. Loved it! I think we have the best neighbors you could have.

  • Thats not a TANK my friend but a LAV 3 ... Light Armored Vehicule of the 3rd generation ... far from being a tank

  • I think the Mexian bagpipers were formed in honour of the Saint Patricks battalion. Yeah the Scots and Irish brought the bagpipes and Kilt all over the world. There's nothing like Gaelic culture. It's amazing.

  • the irish do not, nor have they ever worn the kilt. the kilt is uniquely scottish

  • Oh in that Case, best tell the Canadians, The South Africans, the British, the Irish and the Mexicans to disband their Irish regiments and take their kilts and bagpipes off them as well. The Irish have been wearing the Kilt for 150 years or so and before that they wore the Leine and Brat which the Irish brought to Scotland. Actually it was an English man that invented the small Kilt so I guess it's not Scottish either.

  • What irish regiments in south africa, canada and mexico wear the kilt ?

And the small kilt was developed by the british army 50 years before rawlinson.

You make the mistake that I am ignorant of my own fucking culture.

and you as an irishman, why are you so desperate to pass of scottish customs as your own. ?

  • Comment removed

  • thts actually not true but whatever

  • I am scottish, however I have lived in ireland for 5 years with my scottish father. I am fucking telling you that the irish have never worn kilts.

Irish kilts were devloped solely for the ignorant american market (because americans for some strange reason think irish wear kilts)

I am telling you that the native irish do not nor have ever considered the kilt irish, because they never wore them.

if you wore a kilt in ireland the irish would assume you to be scottish.

  • @kingdomofdalriada who cares.

  • @kingdomofdalriada Well that's good to know.

  • I am going to have to disagree with you here. The kilt was developed from the brat - a square cloak worn of the shoulder that was belted and pleated. Gaels would basically unclip the cloak and let it fall to the waist.

The brat is the precursor to the great kilt and is contemporary with the Roman occupation of Britain - and so prior the mass migration of the Gaels to the Scottish Highlands. While the Irish may not consider the Kilt and "Irish" thing there is historical evidence supporting it.

  • @myndhold The brat was worn by the higland scots, an ethnic group very distinct from the irish.

It may have evolved from the brat worn by the scots, irrespective of whther it did or not, the kilt was devloped and worn in scotland by the scots, not the irish.

is that really hard to understand.

  • @kingdomofdalriada its not that its hard to understand - you simply have your facts wrong. Check out Dunlevy's "Dress in Ireland" (1989). The brat was a garment worn as early as the 5th Century C.E. in Ireland. I don't know if contemporary Gaels in Scotland wore similar garments, but I think it likely.
