@BeatsofE I play it in G minor but from the looks of it they are playing it in A minor. So a standard C harmonica will do, will take some note bending though
What is with people breaking down structures of songs? moaning about how many chords are used and what timing every thing is? music is art.... its not some
scientific formula.... you didnt see native Indians with scale charts and time structures!!! its music! art! self expression! ANYTHING GOES!!
@ThreeDLee09 Amen brother! The chords he is playing is C#minor G# Minor E Major B Major and F# Major and he is finger picking the chords which means he is playing several of the notes that make up the different chords so he is playing much more than 5 notes I assure you of it. But most importantly as ThreeDLee09 has stated this song is about the story being told a man who can't change his ways even though he would like redemption. Plus chords are rhythm the melody is whats important
this song is f#$%ing awesome. no image trying to be sold. is it country? is it rock? i have no idea. all i know, is it gives me chills. and that rocks!
I see by remarks below, that we are all notice this lead singer being the perfect 'cast' for a lead in a Bob Dylan bio film. Somebody give me a holler, when it hits the market. I'll come see it, for sure. Hope he can act.
The chord progression to this song is: Am, Em, C, G, D. He's using a capo on the 5th fret. To play in the same key as him do the exact same fingering positions, just 5 frets higher.
Nay, he is flatpicking: Pick between thumb and forefinger, picking with ring and middle. I think it's more difficult than finger picking, myself, but a pick is a nice thing to have in your arsenal if you can't grow a gnarly thumbnail. :)
I wouldn't say that he is just like him, but reminiscent. There is one song on the album that reminds me of Neil Young...and I don't think you can rule him out as an influence. But, Dylan and Young are 2 of the coolest musicians who've lived, IMO.
What key is his harmonica in? I've been playing this song for awhile i think it would be nice to add harmonica.

The melody and lyrics are whats important. Nobody ever bitched because Johhny Cash only used 3 chords.

@au4040 Harmonicas are often called harps. Look up Aeolian harps. Or just mouth organs/harps, it's just a nickname really.

Alvarez have several top of the line guitars that sound amazing. They also have cheaper guitars that sound really good for the price.

Someone said "its only like 5 chords".
Yeah, but:
1. he's playing finger-style guitar and not making any mistakes at all
2. he's freakin' SINGING at the same time
3. these 5 chords are put together REALLY WELL.
So there.
