wow i've never watched the show before but i love the books it sounds as if u ppl r saying that in the show, lupus lost his voice! wtf?! een if it was too gory to show his tongue being cut out, coudn't they just say so and not show it? i hate when books become movies or shows cuz the actors r different than we picture the characters and the producers change the story to b lamer

Actually, it's a 17yo playing something like a 12-13 yo. They aged the characters to make things more appealing for the target audience and to make some stuff more believable. Also, having older kids play younger ones makes shooting the whole thing a lot easier. They are allowed to work longer.

Its possible that making them older makes it less realistic as they would probably have married by then. In the books she's 11 and has been given a proposal. The books are much better.

The books are much better I was watching this the other day and it was nothing like the books also watching the TV programme usually ruins you image of what you think it's like in the book. Personally the TV show was a let down.

venilacus the slave dealer cut out his tongue when he was younger to stop him from telling anyone that he killed lupus's father [but it might be different in the series

In the series Venalicius merely scared him into staying silent. It worked for me, until after he died and Lupus still didn't talk.

yeah i've only just started watching the series but i've read all the books so far and it seems they've made a lot of changes to make it a kid's show [cuz some of the books are quite gory]

You're mixing up the book and the tv series darkroge. In the original book he got his tongue cut out, but the people who made the tv series decided it wouldn't be a good idea to show that in a kid's show.

I love this series so much - although I think they should have kept the original ending to Enemies of Jupiter, which was fantastic and epic and - too good for words. Now I don't know what they'll do about the ending to the Slave-Girl from Jerusalem... thank god it still has its charm and sense of danger.

Haha. Okay. I live in the States so this show isn't available here. I don't know a thing about the plot or characters, but it does look a very well-made series (the sets look almost as good as the Rome ones) and I see that it's gotten pretty decent reviews.

I hate the Roman Mysteries series! Its nothing like the books and the books are absolutely fantastic! Its the first book was when the friends first met and had to solve the mystery of who was killing these dogs and chopping off their heads! Also they had to find out where all this money had gone but from what I gathered it was nothing like it! It should be one episode for two chapetrs of every book. It would take them longer to film but at least the series would be more accurate to the books!

i've read the books, and it's a shame it's been delayed but it wouldn't be a good idea to have the "pirates of pompeii" on the t.v because it has kidnapping in. i think it is a bit sad squeezing more than one book into an episode, it just spoils it.

I SOOO KNOW i'm only 13 but everyone says they're meant to be for younger people but they're the best damn books i've ever read in MY LIFE!

These books brought me to the life of reading and now i'm a complete bookworm because of caroline.

I watched the ifrst episode, i was a bit sad that they tried to put 3 books into one. And I think i missed the part where vesuvious expoldes tonight. (SOB SOB)
