The newer ones way better! Well, I don't like either of them, but the woman thing singing in this looks so fake, but the newer CGI one looks great./ But in all fareness I've growen up watching the Speciel Edition.
I just watched a white power skinhead band on you tube before coming here, and I have to say that Max Rebo blows them out of the water, everyone start to leave video responses on racial videos on you tube with star wars music clips. That's what I plan on doing.
Wait a second. The door opening with the Rancor in it. That scene could have worked if Oola hadn't already been screaming in a way that she was frantically trying to escape from something. Also the Rancor has already seen her by the roar yet the gate isn't open enough for him to actually see her. Inconsistances I tell you!
I agree, a large portion of the CGI additions to the Trilogy are epic FAILS. The removal of the original song from this scene and the addition of the other creatures is utterly LAME. This song is way more catchy and a huge part of my memories from films is tied into the soundtrack. Even in the 2001 DVD release (where Lucas did the meddling with CGI) you can see Max Rebo is still jamming to THE ORIGINAL BEAT! How retarded is that? Just leave the music alone
Greedo never got off a shot, Han didn't telekinetically hover superfast out the way of a blast from his gun. Blue lightsabers don't turn green on the Millenium Falcon (that 1, like Greedo, was totally unforgivable, much as I love George). This musical number is better. Much CGI of the S.E.'s LOOKS like CGI which RUINS them. We don't & never did want additions George, IMPROVEMENTS yes. Additions NO. The transition of the Jedi Choral piece into TROTJ credits music WORKS BETTER. Give us the O.E.'s!
Since you've worked this much and came this far already, you should buy the full frame laserdisc and then rotoscope the main subjects of interest like Sny Snoodles into the widescreen picture. The reason being because the GOUT only uses half of the vertical resolution, contributing to such a soft picture maybe? But the full frame uses all of the resolution. Perhaps a combination of the two would result in the best image? Not too different from what you have already been doing. Thoughts?
The original band review(I saw it first in this video today):I think the original long-mouth singer looked completely unrealistic and cheesy and I am glad Lucas fixed it. Since I grew up with the Special versions, the music feels out of place, but it's understandable and actually great. Now I can see that most of the band was in the Special. The only thing that needs fixing there is the long-mouth at the camera.
@PabloJalan Hey asshole: most of us agree with you about some of the changes, but don't get a superiority complex over it. Let's keep things in perspective: It most certainly is an opinion, get over yourself. And let's get something straight: You prefer the original because that's what you grew up with. I agree that a lot of the changes were unnecessary (Han should have shot first) but I personally think the original song sucked hard. I'm not crazy about the new one, but I'd say it's better.
@PabloJalan I would cut that down to 89 percent. (proof? compare the scene from Empire where Leia is watching Boba Fett take off in the OOT to the same scene in the SE's, the music has been "restored" in the SE.
LOL 1:20 to 1:27 oola is screaming because thats when the rancor is about to put her in his mouth to eat. and yet youve shown the gate opening up for when the rancor is about to come out to get her. lol the rancer was already eating her at 1:20 to 1:27. so you made a mistake at the end of the video.
This worked much better for the scene, the movie, and the series. It has that ~music from another world~ feel to it. The new song huttesse [I think that's the title?] sounded kinda disney-like or something. Besides, if it works why fix it?
@toajaller5544 Since this is the Original Cut on DVD from 06 im sure they have it. they just didnt give us the Original Trilogy in Anamorphic so it was kind of like lucas saying yeah here ya go fanboys now fuck off.

I can't believe I forgot how much more fitting this version of the scene was compared to the 1997 version. Thanks for uploading this.

Lucas gets butt hurt because he cant take criticism. We made him rich and now he doesnt even respect the fans.

Does anyone prefer this to the "Jedi Rocks" song? I like both of them actually.

@sgauden02 I hope you're just joking.

@xXSparky117Xx Look I know many people hate "Jedi Rocks", but the song itself wasn't bad, it was just out of place.

1.) This Jabba is INFINITELY more life-like and intimidating than the CGI versions. That's NOT an 'opinion'... it's a plain-as-day FACT.
2.) This Soundtrack is SO much better than the Special Edition.
3.) Obviously the last few seconds are from the RESTORED footage.
Its a reminder of how badly it SUCKS that Lucas refuses to restore the ORIGINALS and only cleans-up the crappy altered version.
CONCLUSION:
99% of the changes Lucas has made are FAILS!
