@MrSpiderNETZ With all due respect, I don't think that carrier is american by any stretch. US carriers typically features angled deck, to accommodate both landing and flying aircrafts at the same time. As you can see, the deck in the clip is not angled - meaning it's LHA class at best. Now, at the end of the clip, you will see ski jump (meaning this ship is not even LHA class either.) It looks like carrier-battleship from USSR. (Kiev class? I don't know.)
It's good the Russians have one of the most powerful jets in the world, or this pilot would have died due to his panic attack. It's lack of training and sheer terror that would cause a pilot to stand his jet straight up that close to the flight deck. I'm glad he lived so we could see his vid. How many crashed and the videos were hidden? We'll never know.
@CommanderMarines Your absolutely right. I wasn't trying to make fun of the Russians, I respect the hell out of the SU program just as much as I respect the US Raptor program. They're many aircraft follies, more than we can count, on both sides that we will never see. It was just a statement I made during the excitement of watching this vid.
This is for 100% Sukhoi Su-27K (Su-33), besides, it doesn't even look like Su-35 - it has additional steering surfaces in front, which Su-35BM (Su-27BM) does not have (unless you mean Su-27M, which was for some time - esspecially in 90's - called Su-35/37 for advertising purposes, yet when the current Su-35BM came in scene, the name was taken away from Su-27M and was given to the new Su-35, which is completely diffrent plane. Anyway, still many people call Su-27M a ,,Su-35/37"...)
@estebee You're right, it is clearly an A-10, no other plane ever made could pull that much power. They don't call it the Warthog because it's slow.... duh Wanna see an amazing Warthog vid? check out A-10 close call. You can here the super sonic bombs of the rounds incoming, the rounds hitting the ground, 5 seconds later you hear the cannon that sent hell on earth.
@thernk It could be a combination of the factors you listed, but if you look closely the hook on the tail missed the arrestor hook on the carrier deck therefore he needs to go back round and try again
@meatgrinder762002 are you on crack? He was pulling vert right before he even got to the flight deck. He wasn't thinking about the cables, check again. Is that your final answer?
His approach to the flight deck is way to high, so they tell him he needs to abort and circle for another approach, the pilot panics and pulls back on his flight stick way too hard. If it was a plane other than the SU-35 he would have fallen straight back down to the flight deck. Lucky for this jumpy pilot, he just happens to be in the jet with the greatest "thrust per weight" ratio ever made. So when he panicked, he also gave it full throttle, which is what saved his ass.
I think he was Putin' the throttles to 140% ;)

@brasidas7 the guy was making a joke-it is clearly an angled flight desk with a ski jump-only Russia has this.

Wow! How the heck did he miss the cables?! Must be the angle of the camera, deceptive.
Anyway, no way this is an SU-35. It is an SU-33 Flanker-D (naval).

@utubesqueeze how did he miss the cables? he obviously got instructed to abort the landing.

@cpbishurr Well, yes, obviously. I meant in the sense of "damn, that was close!" therefore the "heck" bit :)

Its a good thing he didn't hook the cable! it looks like the hook was only a foot or two above the cable.

lol, one of the ground crew bet him £500 that he could'nt knock an apple off the deck.....

That's not how we wave off...that's how we get an inflight engagement of the wires and slam into the deck. I'm surprised that's not what happened.

@Kaczorekpl It doesn't matter what Su-whatever, it's Su-stolen technology F-15. It just took that many Su's to get it right.

Or did he just chicken out?
