Thanks Knees Tease for all the great old kiwi songs/bands that you've uploaded.
I love them all but you can't beat th' dudes Be mine tonight. I played it until my pc blew up. How good are Split enz as well. ooohhh Sharon o'neill do i need to say anything. Love being reminded of all these great songs/bands.
da da da da da da da da da da daaaaaaaaaa even life hows your day ..........
na cool vid like it favourite song at my school we broadcast television with cameras and present the notices and when we put a song on this is the first one that i choose
I bet I'm one of very few Yanks who loves this song. Was on a vinyl compilation I had, Maiden Australia, rescued by me from the 25-cent bin at the record store - what a find! - but wait - they're kiwis, ain't they?
yeah they are a? funny how the rest of the world gets mixed up with Australia and New Zealand..its like getting Canada and America mixed or Germany and Austria...
I absolutely ADORE this song, and when I flew to New Zealand they played it through the entire flight and it played in my mind for the entire TEN YEARS it took me to track it down in the States. I didn't know who the band/singer was until THIS year, and was FINALLY able to get it on a Dobbyn ultimate collection. WONDERFUL song!
Otherwise fine Otherwise just dandy! Otherwise fine Otherwise just over the top! You got really rotten weather, it's so hard, I know that that's so Tell me where a weatherman should start, when he's miles from his sunshine... Promise you the warmest winter fire, When outside its freezing cold Promise you the bluest summer sky, It'll shine just for you...
Confession time; for years I failed to understand that Dobbyn had been 'shot' at the beginning of the video and interpreted his video character's subsequent staggering around as intended to simulate being really out-of-it or something. Not a bad pop song, but the video loses points for Peter 'Rooda' Warren's blatant 'dog on it's back' crotch display.
I've always wondered how much money Dave made from his music career (considering that he has only had hit records in NZ). Anybody know? No "guesses" please.
$389,867.72 if don't count the 3 chickens he got paid when he did a gig up north and the money he lost in the taxi he caught after a Ponsonby Gig. YOU MORON what the hell kinda question is that...IDIOT
Well not very much from his time in Th'Dudes in the late 1970s - Stebbings Studios kept all their masters and the royalties go to them, not the band...
i remember 1983 i was 14yrs old i was a street kid in new plymouth this was two of my best friends and my favourite songs sadly lost those friends same year car accident good to hear this song and remember the bros rip shane+graeme
I'm stuck with it...even after all these years, as I lie on sofa on a Monday or Tuesday watching the TV and the weather report comes on - as soon as the reporter says '...and now, the outlook for Thursday...' it comes into my head 'YOUR GUESS AS GOOD AS MINE!!' I've yet to hear a weatherman say 'a weak ridge of pressure from the hinter to the heartland' but I live in hope. Awesome song Dave.
Oh...and the stirruped Adidas pants...were ALL the rage when I was about 8. I only got the fake ones with 5 stripes..the real ones were too pricey : ( haha
One of my all time Kiwi faves...this brings back memories and gave me patriotic feelings as a child. I am horrified to see that guy in his dick togs just sitting in the deck-chair! I remember when that was considered quite normal! Jesus!!
I love this song! It is and will always be timeless!!!! I bet you guys never thought that the younger New Zealand generation would be crazy about this song. I love to hear more and I am not alone.
Fucking aye NZ Music is the shit well it was it's all crap rap nowadays.

I often used to argue whether Dave Dobbyn was NZ's Bruce Springsteen or not. Hearing this song I realise he's NZ's Elvis Costello.
Great Song.... Heard he's a dick
