hmmm...my infant had the vaccine, got a cough one day later. I told the dr. that I was glad it couldn't be whooping cough b/c he was vaccinated. She told me he can still get it, even if he is vaccinated. I also have read on my mommy blogs of parents who's infants still got whooping cough after the vaccine, so.....it might decrease the chances but doesn't get rid of them.
@meaganteal vaccines need time to build up an immune response (definitely more than a day)- its not an instant cure but the long term effects are worth it. Thats why vaccination is a preventative measure and not a therapeutic one. Its also why you need to get boosters every ten years
unfortunately, the pertussis vaccine only lasts for about 3 years after the last dose and begins to decline in effectiveness from there. this is the reason why, besides small babies, many cases or in children of adolescent age.
stage 1 lasts 7-13 days and symptoms aren't usually bad until the end of stage one when it's effects and contagiousness can't be reversed. sucky.
I recently read on article by the International Medical Council on Vaccination that the majority of recent whooping cough cases are in vaccinated individuals. "In the nine California counties most affected, 44 to 83 percent of those contracting the infection had been fully vaccinated. In Ohio and Texas, two states also having record numbers of whooping cough cases, 75 and 67.5 percent respectively had been vaccinated."
@jenniferkendall1998 im scared that i have "whooping cough" since my friend said he has it and started to coughing on my face (ya i know neat right....) and im not sure if i have it, i coughing ALOT, but i dont really vomit...well im still kinda suspicious
Yeesh, I see people flaming your vids all over the place. I keep hitting that "poor comment" thingy. I hope you don't get discouraged because of the jerks out there with nothing better to do. I always enjoy your videos so much!
Anyhoo, I wanted to say that if anyone gets whooping cough, or any bad cough, if you put a heating pad under your left arm, against your ribs, it will quiet the cough. Saved me when I couldn't sleep for the coughing!
