  • I have that same base station sitting in my basement. It is a TRC 30 A 23 channel. I bought it used over 30 years ago.

  • @BananaJSSI Great unit!

  • @fortiesnutcase I have many radios old school. I stil use one of my TRC-458 Radios daily for DX. I bought it new in Feb. 1978. I have some even older that I still use as well. They are great old radios

  • @BananaJSSI Sounds like you have a great collection!

  • @fortiesnutcase I must have at least 10 radios. Lot of good DX running right now. A very strong cycle

  • Before there was Ventrillo there was the CB

  • CB radio was the greatest passtime, and after you bought the radio and antenna, it was absolutely free! Also, you never knew who you were going to hook up with.

I was "Casey,Idyllwild CA" we had 4000 feet overlooking Hemet, Ca and we could talk all the way to Catalina Island! We had no landline telephone being out in the boonies, so it kept us from getting lonely at night. Thank you for the memories.

  • @videotimesss1 Thanks so much for sharing your memories. It sounds like you had a great setup for CB.

  • I had more fun on CB than any other portion of radio broadcasting I ever did. I miss it very much and wish the old gang we had were back on the air :(

  • @thebakerman1 Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video

  • omg thts my raido

  • @hfollett22 They are great radios. Glad to hear you have one. Thanks for watching this video!

  • This stuff is really funny. Especially over the phone with mah buddies. It's funny to hear people say "What? Huh? Exuse me? Who is this?!" XD

  • @SasukeCaramelldansen LOL Thanks for watching!

  • if only you all knew of channel 14 (27.125) tucson az

  • So we crashed the gate doin 98 Said let them truckers roar 10-4 !!!!

  • LOL Thanks for watching!

  • @fortiesnutcase Thankyou for posting !!!

  • You are very welcome!

  • oh no not the smokeys... watch out for those smokeys

  • LOL

  • Back before the CB channels went to hell with the idiots running the echo boxes, big watts, and foul language. Im not sorry i went ham and got away from the crap today!

  • Leave it to a woman to ruin fun. I bet she had a huge 70's bush and wore a flannel shirt.

  • Breaker Breaker 1-3? We've got some smokeys around mile marker 82. Do you copy?

  • 10-4, good buddy!

  • Cool! I'll be playing Convoy on my show this coming Saturday. And, I remember that CB Base! (Supersport)

  • I remember that song! Thanks so much for watching, or rather listening, to this ridiculous video!

  • That's right! Good point! Thanks so much for watching this video, or rather listening to it. Ha, ha! 10-4

  • It wasn't just the CBer's who pranked people - the hams did it to. Around 1990 up on 80 meters, there was a group of pranksters who referred to themselves as the "Penis Envy Net" on Sunday evenings. Those guys cracked jokes, belched into their mikes, sweared, and did everything that you heard on 11 meters accept they were hams. They never identified themselves, but with the signals and equipment, you knew they were upper level hams.

  • I never knew ham operators did that too. How funny! LOL

  • lol - Me & 3 other high schoolers talked many a night in small town Middle Georgia from '75 thru some of '77. The youngest one would get on Channel 21, which was occupied by the elite Browning Eagle club ( middle age liquor sipping farmers ) and aggravate the hell out of them. That guy is now a CFO of a bank.

  • LOL that's really funny! Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video and for sharing your own hilarious story!

  • I just happened to be searching for this stuff and watched this video, then I just remembered that I've seen some of your videos from Geneva on the lake before. Was this recording from Geneva area? Somewhere I have a couple tapes with some funny cb radio fights from the early 90's. Talk about the good old days!

  • Actually, the recordings were from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I must admit they were a lot of fun to make. LOL Also, thanks for subscribing to my videos. Much appreciated. I will subscribe to yours also.

  • We use to talk AM CB and sideband up in Detroit. I one time talked sideband (no skip) to a guy in Cleveland. That was the farthest sideband (non skip) contact I ever made.

We use to talk and prank all the time on AM CB. We had Truck City near our neighborhood, so that was usually a source for our pranks.

  • Sounds funny. I'll be you had a good time especially with the truckers so near. Pranking was so much fun but I feel kind of guilty now about it but have some great funny memories about it, too. Thanks again!

  • We were bad! When we would get a trucker who was looking for a lady for the evening, we would send him to a local gay bar in the neighborhood and then some of the guys would park in mobiles and watch as he walked in and walked out real fast.

Truck City was where we would go when we were bored and wanted to prank someone. Some nights I would be looking for my friends only to stumble upon one of their pranks on channel 19 and jump in.

  • That's really funny! Sounds like you guys had a blast when you were kids. I did too and pulled all sorts of pranks. We got some kids in the neighborhood here who are pulling all sorts of pranks but I can only get so mad because I think of some of things I used to do. LOL Thanks again!

  • I had a friend who had a Lafayette with beams and we use to prank all the time. He one time told a woman that his Harley was broke down on the expressway. The woman believed him until it occurred to her - why would a Harley have a cb? The she got angry. Before I would leave his house at night I would turn his echo mike on high without him knowing. Then I would listen to him key up on my way home and no one could understand him. LOL

    CB's were pretty cool!

  • LOL that's funny! Wasn't Lafayette made by Radio Shack or am I thinking Olson Electronics?

  • Lafayette was another radio chain like Radio Shack and Olsons. We had Olsons Electronics in Detroit too.

Also, we use to pretend we were Arabs and could not speak english that well going around and asking to breaks. Then there was me acting like a studderer asking for a break and driving the poor people crazy.

  • That's funny! LOL Thanks also for the info on Lafayette.

  • Ha, those were the days. LOL thanks for sharing.

  • You're welcome. Thanks for commenting on and watching this video. It was sure fun and nostalgic to make.

  • I had one of those. It launched me into amateur radio. It seemed like it was a well built rig.

  • Is that a Radio Shack Navaho??

  • Yep, that is exactly right. Thanks so much for watching this video. Much appreciated!

  • Same here. I used to talk SSB on 19 pushing a 250W Palomar and it drove people nuts.

A crazy buddy of mine had a Sigma 5/8 base antenna 80 feet in the air. He was given a beat up CB and decided to hook it up to the Sigma and raise a little hell. He tied the mic open with a rubber band and set it on top of a police scanner for 4 hours while he and the family went to visit grandma. To his surprise the CB was still transmitting when he returned.

Hard to believe he is a legit HAM operator now

  • Man, that is hilarious! Great prank! And now he is a legit ham operator? That's even better. Thanks for commenting on and watching this video. Very much appreciated!

  • I'll admit I eventually grew out of that stage but I sure had a lot of fun. Not just pranking people but shooting skip on SSB and talking to people in other states and countries.

Yep... he was the biggest bandit in the 3 counties but is retired now. He and his family are all licensed operators which is proof that anything is possible.

  • Yep, I eventually grew out of that stage also but it sure is fun to reminisce with the old gang. We were all just talking about how the old stories influenced us when we were teenagers and then how our stories influenced the next generation of my friends kids and then their stories influenced their kids and so on...LOL Glad to hear how successful he is now but I'm sure you and him have lots of funny stories from back when. Thanks again!

  • I use to have a radio with SSB and upper and lower channels, above 40 and below channel 1, respectively. I talked on it until I was in the process of getting an FCC complaint for ripping up t.v's and phone lines when I got my amatuer radio license. I still have my license, but haven't used a rig in over ten years. I miss the CB years more than I miss ham radio. There was beauty is talking illegal skip and off frequency.

In Detroit, channel 20 still has old time CBer's talking to date.

  • Yep, they sure were the good old days! Great to hear they still have old time CBer's talking in Detroit. Thanks again!

  • i,am just glad there are still cbs around. where i live in pa. they kinda slacked down for awhile but i see they are picking back up. i had a cb since 1977.

  • Great to hear that the cbs are still around and are picking back up. I hope that happens around here also. Thanks for commenting!

  • Your welcome. Lots of fun times in the old days with that. I may be posting some more old recordings I have. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching, or rather listening, to this video post. Very much appreciated!

  • I have that exact same radio , 23 Channel TRC 30 A. That is a collectors item now I bet, crystals and all, lol. We use to pull of some pretty crazy shit back in the 70's on our radios. All in fun.

  • LOL Yep, I laugh when I think about some of the crazy stuff my friends and I used to say on the cb.

  • Watching your vid. I just had to go down to the basement and pull one of my radios off of the shelf. I have the coax still hanging through my window so I hooked up my old Citizen MPL 5 just to listen. Not alot happening on there at all, unlike the old days. Cheers

  • Yep, I remember in the old days how jammed the frequencies were. Lots of activity on there.

  • You can say that again. Any given time of the day you could find someone talking on there. It was alot of fun.

  • hhahahahahahh this is hilarious

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for watching this video!

  • I remember those days. My dad got into CB in the mid to late sixties. Then I got bitten by the CB bug. I was deep into CB in 1970's and early 80's. Sure was a lot of fun! I have a ham rig that covers the CB band and I sometimes listen. Hardly ever hear anyone. Here the band is pretty much dead! (local chat) I used to work 11 meter dx, but got into Ham radio and gave that up. I think CB might come back (a little) if it wasn't for the skip / dx. Most people hate skip. Thanks for Videos! :)

  • Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Yep, I remember the CB meets they used to have at Ponderosa Steak house back in the late 70's around the Cleveland area. Thanks again!

  • I love DX and that was the only reason I got my first radio back in 1977. If it weren't for the skip I couldn't be bothered. Always wanting a bigger and better antenna than the next guy and lots of power. Everyone was running a foot warmer back then. I still have every single QSL card from the stations I worked around the world. I have an apple box full to the top. Who knows, maybe we have even chatted before, lol

  • Could be we chatted way back when LOL. My buddy had a monster antenna. Sounds like you have some terrific vintage items. Thanks so much for watching and commenting on this video. It is very much appreciated!

  • I have had a lot of different antennas over the past 32 years. I think my best DX talking antenna was a High Gain Eliminator 2 full quad. I had it up one full wave length on a tower with 600 watts of juice cranking through it from my Kris Big Boomer linear amp. Currently I have an Antron 99 up 100'ft in a tree top.

  • I don't know much about the technical end of the cb world because it was an old buddy of mine's cb and antenna but I know he was really into it. Sounds like you have a lot of great equipment. Thanks again for watching this video and subscribing!

  • Haha its really cool to listen to a vintage CB broadcast from back then. Pretty cool history!

  • Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Very much appreciated! I should be putting a few more vintage CB radio pranks on sometime soon. Thanks again!

  • Nice Video! Well done!

  • Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Much appreciated!

  • this is great....I was on CB in the early 70s, late 60s.....there was always hilarious verbal wars going on. I would listen most of the night into early morning. By the time I had to get up for school my eyes were burning out of my head. I wish I had the foresight to tape all this stuff.

  • LOL Yeah, I wish I would have taped more. It was always fun listening to CB conversations. I have a few more segments taped that I will be posting soon. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching, or rather listening, to this video post. Much appreciated!

  • i should post it but its kinda long i used a whole side of a tape to record it but its all good and youtube has a 10 min limit on videos and im not a director

  • Maybe if you could post just a short portion of the tape. Hope to hear it someday. Sounds good. Thanks again for commenting and watching!

  • i could do that, but the whole tape or a big part of it is good this guy is swearing at another guy and tellin him that wherever he go nobody likes him and the first guy explains that its not the ppl in the towns its him

  • Sounds really funny! Hope to hear it sometime. Thanks again for watching this video post!

  • i should put it on here but i dont want any heat from the guy that said that on the CB he lives in another state than im in now and i went to the state i recorded this tape just to visit, you know what i might put it on, heck with it i plan on digitizing all my tapes to the computer as mp3s i must have like 100 tapes ok maybe not that many but i got a lot, the youtuber CassetteMaster would like my collection

  • HAHAHA THATS AWESOME!!! this is so hillarious!!! LOL LOL

  • Thanks very much! So glad you liked it. It sure was fun making those tapes. LOL

  • I might have a few more clips with that lady and it was edited down a bit by me. I also have a few more cb clips from the same era that I will try to put on in the future. Thanks so much for your comments and watching this video post!
