I got my Pignose when I was about 12 years old and love it. I have many different guitars and find that more expensive instruments don't necessarily make it sound "better". The Pignose may not sound good to some people but it is what it is and I for one find it great for when I'm relaxing on the couch and such. The best thing for me is that it improves practice time by allowing me to play more often and practice time is what I think makes a guitarist better.
You may have noticed an inherent flaw design in the '51 in which the screws that adjust the intonation of the bridge cut into some of the strings and eventually break them. A freind has a guitar shop and he corrected with a different bridge and made it through-the-body stringing - it gives it more sustain and cured the breakage . He added a tone control to his. Both of our guitars sound great - I'm using mine in a show coming up the end of August.
I have to say I know its extremely cheap and for that reason I shouldn't expect too much but to me it doesn't really sound that great and I dont really get where all the hype comes from. Although I would like to hear it with a nice strat like a JM Strat or SRV
@stevenmaher1 - I haven't found that a better guitar makes this amp sound 'better'. It is distinctive and quirky and that's it charm. I should do a follow up video with a good guitar, recorded though a good mic.
I got mine for 5 quid today and didnt think it would work as a result, but hey it did and it rocks. will be recording with it soon im sure. I would have paid alot more if i knew it workeD! Highly recommend.
As for squires, I still play my Silver series and love it. changed the pickups here n there but been through alot more costly guitars but always come back to it. They are not all bad.
I can play my electric g with it, but when I plug it into the amp, I have to pull the chord to the side where its plugged in to the guitar, to get a sound thru the amp
These little bastard, rock... I have an original '73 that I've had since I was 12. It had been well played before I got my hands on it, and I played it for at least 2 hours a day for three years straight and it still works great when I turn it on!
Side not, I went to Guitar Center to buy one for my 8 year old nephew and when I asked the kid behind the counter, he looked at be like I asked him to solve world hunger... He had no clue of what I was talking about.... Disgraceful!
There are ALOT better sounding battery powered small battery amplifiers out there these days. The little pignose looks cooler than the others, but other than that, its much to be desired for sound/performance
I get so sick of these goddamned psychotic dickheads making the comment on EVERY video that the guitar is out of tune. They wouldn't know a tuned guitar if you smashed it over their pin sized head.
Yeah...I guess everyone should wait to play an electric guitar until they can buy a John Mayer signature Stratocaster and a Dr Z Maz-18 Junior - I don't know what I was thinking!
I own a Squier Affinity Tele, a Squier Jagmaster, and a 51, and I am very happy with the 51 and the Tele, not so happy with the Jagmaster. Muddy and flat.
Not really. We tried it with ours and it makes the bass sound fuzzy with no definition. And not a cool fuzzy tone but just buzzy at all but the most barely audible volumes. Unfortunately bass players need to spend a bit more to get something that sounds decent.
So basically the amp has a in-built pre-amp drive which you control with your guitar volume? I reckon that'd sound sick with a Tube Screamer. Nice tones dude!
yeah.... probably. but its still a squire. I advise against them always. Id rather a mexican standard any day if given the choice. The guy above me a little is right about the selector.
seriously eh... We pay on average 30% more for the same thing except in the US. Even things that are made in Canada. Sometimes our government is just as bad as the Bush government.
that pignose and that Squier sound superb considering you spent less than $100
if only all rigs could sound that good for so little
now I have two very expensive guitars and an incredible modeling amp but let me tell you
that rig you have is a hell of a lot more bang for your buck. That is a very unusual guitar
it kinda looks like somebody took a p bass body + controls and put on a tele neck by mistake then added a humbucker to fill in that pbass cavity has Never seen anything like it
00:00 to 1:15 relating this radio of the 1880...but...i like this tone

I have one of these

any thoughts? the amp is fine
JoeChrisMorris 2 years ago
Did you try a different cord? Sounds like your cord has a dead spot!
If that's not it, I'd change the jack on the amp!
or it could be your jack on the guitar or simply a dirty/faulty volume pot!
Whatever it is it's not hard to fix and there all cheap. You can probably get all the parts from StewMac for under $20... Good Luck!
redrocker1055 2 years ago
i gots a question i am lookin at buyin one of those
is it worth the money
how much
does it run on a cord to the wall or bateries
softballkpab13 2 years ago
Might be both. Or just batteries.
I know it runs on batteries.
