This was a very awesome video!!! I'm doing this next summer and I plan on using the Eurail pass. I think I'm going to get the global pass. I'm finding planning the routes to be a little confusing. Did you guys plan them as you went with a general idea of where you wanted to go or did you plan them as you were in each country as a last moment sort of thing??
Me and a friend are planning to do it in like four yrs. We'd buy the 400 eur ticket for one month and start in Italy or Croatia. We want to go from Turkey to Spain and the UK. We'd take like 2000 eur each. Do you think that would be enough? We'd try to sleep on train if possible in eastern countries as they're really expensive. Would that be enough?
@PiaZickar If you had 2,000€ each and not counting plane/train ticket...ya you should have enough. The further east your are, the better prices you will find. Croatia, Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic would be great places on your budget. You will have a great time!
@TheEdudu15...Did the Eurail Global 21 day Saver pass. Eastern Europe was, by far, the cheapest and the culture was WAY different than where I am from. I loved that! Advice...decide the countries that you want to go to and then find the Eurail pass that fits the best. If you want to goto Poland or Slovakia (which are beautiful BTW!) you can't do that with the Global pass. Hostels are cheap places to sleep and don't try to fit in 18 countries and 179 cities in a month. Too many places wont work.
I live in southern, california must of my moms mom's side of the family come from Ireland and Scotland. I am graduating H.S this june. My friends and I are lookin into this. Ireland,Greece,Germany mayb Italy. How was your experience?
Thanks for the compliments on the videooo :-) The entire trip including everything for the both of us was about $7,000 ($3,500 each) That included EVERYTHING from airfare, to meals to ATM fees for withdrawing money. We stayed in lower end hotels, tried to eat at reasonable restaurants, and didn't pay $200/seat when we went to the theatre. Eastern Europe is A LOT less expensive than Western Europe...you could probably double your time over there and save a lot of money by staying in the east.
Loved the video! If you don't mind me asking... How much did u spend backpacking through Europe for a month? I would love just an estimate because I'm considering it for the future! Thanks, God bless!
hey guys, just watched your video. and i would have to say that it made me want to go back to europe sooooo badly (my sister and i backpacked france, spain, italy, and greece for two months in 2007). really well done with the video ^_^.
Ahhh....the video was made with animoto.com It is a paid site but totally worth the money. You upload the pictures, music and put in the comments and it edits EVERYTHING for you. The good...you get a professional looking video without all the work. The bad...you really don't have control over what it looks like. The way it comes out is it...you upload everything again and it will come out slightly different. Great site to use though! Thanks for asking! Jeff
Three months would be great...Eastern Europe was A LOT less expensive for lodging and meals and had GREAT history/places to see (like Hungary/Czech Republic...heard Warsaw is beautiful, but missed it!) Lodging...buy a small netbook and use it to secure lodging from Expedia/Priceline. Have it sort lodging by price and find what looks the best for amenities/location.
Very cool slideshow. Only a month though eh? I'm looking to backpack all over Europe by summer of 2010 for hopefully 3 months. Any tips? Travel hints? Saving money would be my big thing lol. Places that are a must see?
