Some people belieave they bite onto them to spread them around, some people think its because of aggression or instinct, and some people just belieave they do eat eggs. All I know is that they work!
I fish eggs all the time, and from what I hear is that they attack eggs out of aggression. To kill of other eggs that aren't theres supposedly, but I might be wrong though
use amerman cured eggs with a sand shrimp and siberian shrimp oil or krill powder. fish also dont hold on to sodium only based cures. ...add sugar to your cure and they will take it deeper. My cure of choice though is yanos/pautzkies fire cure...has sugar and krill in it...they devour it!
I'll ask Bob why he told you that cause we did use hooks (and big baits). We didn't always set the hook immediately so we could see their behavior, and even with the rod in hand, a salmon will often have the entire bait in his mouth and you never know it. I have watched salmon chew on a bait and couldn't feel the fish but could still feel the spin-n-glo spinning. Before calling someone a liar and full of shit know what you are talking about. Call Bob and see what he says about me as an angler.
AHHHHH! How many fish do we miss in the Garbage hole on the Willamette??? Hahahahaha! Damn. I friggin hate fish sometimes! They drive you nutso! ;-)

Yes, there are hooks in these baits. The egg cure is our own home made cure that we will eventually make available for sale.
