By the way a true martial arts master, should be able to pick up anything...from a magazine to a broomstick... and make use of it as a weapon! Even if you never trained with a weapon in your life. It is only an extension of you.
People see a demo like this and think this is how it goes down on the street. Demos/self-defense training are for practising your technique so you learn how to flow with the many techniques. The more comfortable you are in doing them the easier for you to use what works best for you.
It's very pretty, and I don't doubt that the techniques would work if you can get into them but it would've been nice to see a few of these with more speed/resistance/reaction from the Uke and how that would change the application and interaction. (For example, jab punches, closing and faster second punches after the first one, trying to block you from getting the belt around.) Either way quite nice!
