If the trail is 10miles long, and you jog a 9minute mile pace, you could make it up in hour 30mins. (a 9min mile pace is VERY slow). I usually just jog up the trails.

Nice video. At about the same time you were at Half Dome in 2008 I was camped at Illilouette Creek about 5 miles south of Half Dome. Then one month later I went to the top of Half Dome for the fourth time in my life and the first time since June, 1985! I had to do it in two days though, with a stayover in Little Yosemite Valley. I'm not young anymore. . .

Great information. I just made my 1st trip up half dome 8/16/10 & I can't touch your time (yet- :-)The best advice I can offer to a 1st timer is water as much as you can carry and or a purification pump. Search my user name for my experience. The 4:04 is better. Good luck it is worth the trip

I spoke with the ranger (s) that hike up to the beginning of quarter dome. They told me the best rangers take ~2 hours and 45 minutes to get to the quarter dome and they take the short cut. you must be a hardcore marathon runner to get it done in 3:16...

Your time is possible with very short breaks or no breaks at all, Ive seen a guy do it in less then 2 hours, but he jogged the whole way up. He also had no food and only one littler of water. He also didn't go up the cables due to traffic.

I hiked from the valley to the base of the cables on Sub Dome (not the summit) in 3 hours, 40 minutes and I'm certainly not in peak physical condition. I can easily believe that someone in superb shape like you did valley to summit in 3 hours, 16 minutes (one or two people here expressed doubt regarding your pace). Awesome hike man! Congrats. I'm very glad to have had the opportunity myself.

I just went up two weeks ago. Took the Mist to Nevada trail up. It kicked my butt. Didn't make Half Dome. Made it just past Little Yosemite where you took your dip. Came back on the Muir trail. The views were incredible from Muir trail. BTW, I'm 50 yrs old. Next time I would try going up Muir to Little Yosemite and camping overnight. That's a heck of a hike in three hours. WTG
