  • My PvS was a consumer PC

Intel Dual Core with a Gigabyte board (P43 Chipset)

I use the onboard SATA-Controller für the 500GB HDD (Samsung Spinpoint 7500U/min Cache=?)

The onboard NIC was conectet to the DC.

Miy streaming Interface was a Intel gigabit NIC which I pluged in in the PCIexpress slot.

I set all NICs to the full duplex mode.

I use a Windows Server 2k8 R2 directly on the Computer, no virtualisation!

This Server hat no problems to provied 20 or 30 Clients in a aceptable time.

  • 1 The Cache Location was on the Server in this Video. But I maked a other thest with cache on local HD. It was a litle bit fast. Perhaps 10 seconds.

    2. The location was on a local HDD with 2 Partitions. One for the PvS and one for the Store. The HDD was a Samsung Spin Point 7500U/min

    3 I don´t know what you mean

    4 I use a cheap consumer 24port gigabit unmanaged switch (100€)

  • 1. Were is the cache location ?

    > Cache on Server Disk would end up in double network traffic

    2. Where is the vdisk store location?

    > CIFS can end in not caching the data in the ram of the pvs what would increase the network reads to a maximum.

    3. What Disk mode did you use ?

    > Depending on the 2 things i asked before, a difference disk mode would also slow down the environment

    4. What Switch configuration did you use?

    > Refer to best practice guide (spanning tree,..)

    ......... ;)
