  • The barrel is well and truly being scraped here.

  • Doesn't Al Sharpton think everything is racist and anytime the word black is thrown around it's race baiting?

  • Has Olberman ever made it through a complete show without using the word racism. It is funny if you type Keith Olberman and racism in Google you will get at least two hundred different shows. Olbermann is pathetic.Olbermann is a damn joke. No wonder he has two viewers and no more than five.

  • Keith Olbermann called Chris Wallace a "monkey". I guess since he's a Jew and not black, it's totally okay.

  • Because olbermann found this rather harmless cartoon horribly offensive and racist, I retort by saying this cartoon was hilarious, and brillitantly insightful! Fuck you olbermann, your eloquent words and acid tongue can't mask your hate and stupidity.

  • I can explain the Black Panthers quite easily. They were formed to actually protect Blacks from the tyranny of of who was supposed to be protecting them. The police in Oakland were corrupt and anarchistic and someone had to protect the citizens from savage beatings and racism.

  • Al Sharpton is the last person who should be lecturing on racism, especially with his own history. Remember Tawana Brawley?

  • Then explain the Black Panthers.

  • ...I hate al sharpton

  • wtf???? y is this racist? damn....if u think of yourself as a monkey then ull take offence to this cartoon!!!! if u think of urself as a human being then you wont even think of this cartoon in the slightest bit as racist.....haha yal people r retarded...go read a book or something damn

  • if your that retarted to not think about what your ancestors used to say the you must still be sleeping with your cousins.

  • it has nothing to do about anyone thinking of themselves as a monkey its about a monkey being used to describe a human you fucking read a book ignorant fuck.

  • Damn near every month that Obama has been in office, either he or his family have been called apes or monkeys in some way. If you ain't never been a victim of racism then shut your ignorant ass mouth!!

  • Olbermann and Sharpton. Two of the most dispicable slimeballs on t.v. these days. And if you don't believe me, then you are 'worse than Pelosi!'

  • It's funny how people of all races, colors, and creeds say that they have love for Dr. Martin Luther King but hate Rev. Al. He is doing the same thing King would have done if he was still alive. If it wasn't for Rev. Al, most of the people wouldn't know about such incidents as the James Byrd killing, Genarlow Wilson and Sean Bell. If you remember, when king was alive, they called him an agitator.

  • If it weren't for Al Sharpton, assistant district attorney Stephen Pagones would have never been dragged through the mud during the whole Tawana Brawley thing.

  • Liberals had no problem calling Bush a chimp.

  • Haha!! hilarious!! It was a reference to the chimp who attacked the woman AND to the idiocy of that bill!!!

If you see monkey and think "Obama" maybe YOU'RE the racist!!!

  • We can't let people forget about the history that black people have as being referred to as monkeys. That's why this is an important issue.

Besides, why we gotta go advocating shooting people anyway?

  • @Suitsnappy Who advocated Shooting?

  • What kind of editor allows garbage like that to be printed?

  • A racist.

  • al sharpton and olbermann are to fucked up twats that could not think their way out of a logical paper bag. looks like keith and al have the same fucked up hair stylist too.

  • Made a whole screen name just to express your dislike for KO, that's sad. You're the biggest fan of Countdown.

  • Honestly, as a person who is equally a part of two races, the white and hispanic communities, I must say that this was blown wayyyyyyyy the fuck out of poportion.....

If someone made a cartoon of someone shooting a giant bean, or a giant cracker, I wouldn't find offense....

    lol

That artist expressed himself, and fuck all of this political correctness. I'm a huge fan of Olbermann, but man....whoa.

  • I'm now 3 thumbs down in debt, even though I supported the liberty of free speech! Look man, if you don't like twizzlers, snickers, or black people, then that is YOUR deal. No one has the right to denounce another's viewpoints.

I am half hispanic, half white, and this whole race card is absolutely absurd, and staggering at this point in time.

  • Actually ChimpO's new name should be:

    President ChimpyObamaMcLeninSoros.

  • Enter the words 'chimp' and "bush' in google.

    Look at the images.

Chimpy O's supporters can BLOW ME.

  • Olbermann is a fuck. What if the cartoons original intent wasn't to be racist but to show ineptness or foolishness? What if it was meant to be racist? There were often cartoons that made Bush appear to be apish. It's a double standard. The media taught me about the historical tendency to compare black people to apes, not my parents. White people are taught to walk on egg shells when in it comes racism.

  • "What does an acitivist do?, Raise public awareness". Well said Rev. Al Sharpton. One day the Jews at the new york post will work that out.

  • It's amazing how all the conservatives on YouTube immediately flock to Olbermann videos as soon as they're uploaded just to disagree and rebut.

You guys are truly the biggest fans of Countdown.

  • I think Sharpton's point was very well said, well intended, and well justified.

  • @Fogslifted Why do so many people hate Al Sharpton? I like him, he stands up for equality in America and he wants fairness. That is a good thing right?

  • When I see the cartoon, I instantly thought of two white cops shooting a black man, degraded with the image of a chimp. It doesn't matter what the chimp is "Supposed" to represent. It's a bullshit defenition for a between the lines joke. Before you read it, that image only injects one thought, which then makes you wanna read it to see what it's gonna say. Then your suppoesed to laugh, inside knowing the real intent. It's nothing more than trying to get away with a racial slur in a sneaky way.

  • There is nothing between the lines. That is just in your head, which must be scary place.

I saw the cartoon before I saw the controversy. I had to go back and look at the cartoon to try and see what they were talking about. I understand what you and they are saying but I don't see it in the cartoon, its just not there.

The cartoon is a jab at the stimulus act and that is all.

  • If you had to "go back" and look at the cartoon to deduce whether or not it was racist, tells me you're as dumb as you sound. Nuff said.

  • I beg your pardon? Who do you think you are? There is nothing racist about that cartoon. If it were racist everyone would see it. You want it to be racist. You want there to racism so you create it. Don't call me dumb for getting the humor in the cartoon and not seeing something that isnt there.

  • Who do I think I am? I'm a person (unlike you), that can deduce a racist situation when I see it, which is something you are clearly too delusional to understand. Take your head out of your ass, go back to school and get educated on the issue of racism. Thank you and good bye, and yes you are very DUMB indeed and you've just proven it.

  • So you think it's a gift? Do you have some special ability to deduce racism that us ordinary folks don't have? No, I stand by my earlier comment. You want the cartoon to be racist. I don't know why but you do. Its not racist.

It doesn't even make sense. What would two white cops shooting a chimp (which if you use your imagination, is actually a black person) have to do with the stimulus act? Now that is dumb!

  • Firstly, NYP have tried to make this thing ambiguous by fusing 2 current stories in the news. Where they "blow their cover" is with the caption which is clearly referring to Obama's stimulus bill. People who are fooled by the Nancy Pelosi decoy are idiots. It's Obama's bill, HE is the president and HE ratifies the bill period. So he is clearly the individual who is being depicted as the gorilla in a cartoon which is a hybrid of two news stories.

  • Comment removed

  • Here's where I put paid to your insipid argument. If the stimulus bill fails, whose head are people going to be calling for Obama's or Pelosi's? Answer: Obama. Stop propagating this spurious bullshit now, black people are NOT stupid nor are the more discernible white people. Now you can see how futile your argument is. You're not clever and never were.

  • When the stimulus bill fails the Democrats will take the blame; Obama, Pelosi and the rest. But that has nothing to do with this cartoon which isn't literally depicting the author of the stimulus bill being shot. I'm sure you get it but you'd rather call it racist because you don't like that it is criticizing the Obama administration.

At least I'm sure Olbermann gets it. Olbermann and Sharpton make their living's reinforcing prejudice against the right wing. Don't be a dupe.

  • Cartoon refers to Obama or not Its clearly incites people for violence, But to me it definitely refers to Obama.

Do you remember , there was another cartoon from NY Post about Obama terrorist fist bump ? NY Post racism against Obama is nothing new. They are traitors to this country , they are inciting people for violence against a elected American President.

  • Oh, please. There is no one inciting violence against the President. The left wing likes him and right-wingers don't hurt people because they don't like their political views.

I've never seen people twist a simple thing like this cartoon so far to try and create a false interpretation. There is nothing even remotely racist about it.

  • It was visible during the election campaign of Palin and McCain, Few people with weapons were arrested too. The hate of right wing towards blacks is not new.

  • The right wing does not hate blacks. Your prejudice is showing.

  • hey man im not gonna lie but everyone has racism to some extent and yes the right wing does hate blacks more than the left wing ill give u an example have you ever seen Hannity attack a white racist group like the KKk? he honestly if u watch the right wing they mainly attack blacks and i actually disagree with olbermann here hes doing this to make rupert and fox news look bad for having that, i for one am italian american and im slightly racist i believe everyone has their own racial pride,

  • to some extent, some are worse bigots than others but at the end of the day you have racism on every side white black hispancs and pretty much all races to someeee extent deep down have some bigotry but again i have it its just to a small extent but i will let u kno sharpton is a blatant black racist he has continuoulsy supported blacks but never a white victim :/ why is that? cuz of his racial pride he is a full activist of blacks but no other race,

  • its cuz he has some racial pride in himself being black, and the cartoon itself about the chimp is overreacting get a freaking clue people its not comparing him to obama, many of you want to believe it so you can bitch and moan and cry racism, its just a crutch for some people as if they wanna feel victimized, this video is honestly a waste :/

  • It's pretty clear that this cartoon is ridiculing the so called stimulus bill by suggesting that it resembles something written by a crazed chimpanzee.

It's amusing to someone who doesn't like the stimulus package. It's racist to someone who wants to deflect from the cartoonist's message.

  • The only thing clear about this it's a picture off two white cops shooting a chimp period. If there were no words on the picture, your saying you'd have still known it was about the stimulus package? I kinda doubt it. And if you say yeah you would have known what it was about just by looking at that image, your a liar.

  • If I had just seen the picture without the caption I would have thought it was about the chimpanzee that the police shot and killed in Connecticut.

It didn't register with me that the cops were white. After I read your comment I double checked. The first time I saw the cartoon all I saw was two cops. What does that tell you?

  • It tells me your not very observant. And also as I figured seems alot doesn't register only what the narrow minded tells you should.

  • The NYP have tried to be clever by trying to make this ambiguous. Where they've "blown their cover" is with the captions, which clearly allude to President Obama's stimulus package . Observing the image not withstanding the caption is irrelevant, the fact is the caption IS there and we have to interpret the cartoon as a whole, captions included. That said, this is racism at its most toxic.

  • what I really wanna know is what FOX news (who owns NYP) has the say

  • When I read this I didn't see the monkey as being Obama. People are saying it is racist, but i don't think it was ment to be. Some could see it as racist, uninformed people that think Obama wrote the stimulus, which he didn't. If I thought that monkey was Obama I would be very disgusted by the fact that it shown him shot. That would be my concern. Fact is the people talking out are the people that attack Fox daily and trying to find anything to complain about.

  • Come on now, you might be gullible enough to believe their bullshit but anyone with a brain knows that this is racism. And even if it weren't, the Post should at least acknowledge that some people might see it as such and apologize to those offended. Their refusal to do that is much more offensive than the racist cartoon.

  • I didn't see him as Obama. I voted for the guy, but I don't think it was trying to be racist. Fox sucks, though, but the news networks suck in general.

  • This is to people defending the cartoon:

You are correct, there is a thing called freedom of speech. However, what do you think this is going to do to the New York Post's business. Even if you close your eyes to years of racial intolerance, you should at least be able to recognize that this will be offensive to people and will hurt the papers business. The Post's editor needs to be fired for letting this through. Forget racism, I find it offensive to portray the president getting shot.

  • SIMPLE... If there was a wild raging sick, Pig, running thru rockafella center, NY and a Black security officer shot the pig.. would a cartoon of a black man shoting a wild pig, saying now we're gonna have to find someone else to do Mass on sunday... Do You Think ANyone would care? over all, it's not that serious, put it's about principle...

  • The New York media, when covering a crime in which a suspect's description is given by police, often do not mention the race of the individual described. They provide every other feature - height, weight, age, clothing, etc. - but not race.

Smart audience members assume the race of the criminal is black. Why? Because Sharpton has the terrified the media into thinking that if they mention that a crime was committed by a coloured, they will be branded as racists and boycotted.

  • get over it!!!!!!!!!!

  • We can't just get over being insulted and disrespected. Did Malcolm X or Martin Luther King Jr. just "get over it"?

    You must BE a racist.

  • some people are racist...get over it!

today most people are not raciest!!! stop playing the race card....it won't get you anywhere!

  • As I recall, Olbermann has changed his tone, thank goodness, since he was in L.A.

  • New York Post.. Quite right.. Sorry my bad..

  • Jesus, was Keith channeling Bill O' Reilly that day? I can't believe how laboured this racial inference is. Sorry Mr Olbermann, but if you can't distinguish topical chimp references from biggotry, then it's you that has the unhealthy preoccupation with ethnicity.

  • You're absolutely wrong. If you can't see the racism then you're as blind as Ron Christie is.

  • Would you care to elaborate? I'm by no means an expert on the US press, but I'd imagine that frenzied chimpanzee stories are few and far between. The potential for using the incident in a satire is obvious. It's true that biggots employ crude imagery like the type alluded to in the report, but the sheer topicality of the chimp incident seems to me a clear indication of the artist's true intentions.

  • That editorail cartoon was tasteless and overtly racist. Also suggesting the killing of our president? Shameful. The sad tap dance about mis-interpretation is an insult to America's intelligence. The Wash post's readers got what they paid for. Good old right wing hatred. God bless America, enjoy your freedom.

  • It was the NEW YORK Post, not Washington Post.

  • Indeed. Since when has the Washington Post been full of "right-wing hatred"? Someone's not a reader.
