Good Job. When I got my form, I looked up the census portion of the Constitution. The number of people living at the address is required. I answered only the first three questions and ignored all others.

You know what the fine for not answering can be? No more than $100. The fine for purposely providing false answers was capped at $500.

I refused to answer further questions from the census taker and told him he had all the data he was going to get. No fines, no harassment,nothing happened

The census was actually created to take stock of peoples of various areas and gain a better understanding of a nation state on a large scale. Similar things were conducted by the Roman's, but the first real census was conducted in the United Kingdom after the Battle of Hastings saw a change of power. They're also the most amazing tool to track your family tree, or the history of important people and events. If you're a nobody, die in obscurity, no one cares. Otherwise, pitch in to history.

That should be illegal for the census bureau to repeatedly harass someone until they force one to complete the census to their satisfaction. If you are breaking the law by trespassing and a police officer asks you to leave and you do not, he will arrest you. He will not keep approaching you to ask you to leave. If you say no to the census then either charge the person or leave them alone. Unfortunately nothing will ever change because society does not have the courage to fight for justice.

I know they are not permitted to do so but they made a mistake and hired a census taker with mental disorders that came to my residence and he forced his way into my home violently when I refused to complete the census form and I beat him back out with a bat and called the police on him. I was arrested and charged with felonious assault and my state has the castle doctrine.

@CHUCK30c Actually, the "law" is the US Constitution, which states that the census is there for enumeration purposes (determine how many representatives you get in Congress).

To change that law would require a constitutional amendment.

Imagine they made a law that stated the police could enter your home at any time. The law itself would be illegal since it violates the Constitution.

Same with this. When the census came, I gave the number of residents as per law. Nothing more.
