@037712-a point of correction-before Patrick there was Marshal, Patrick played this song only in 1990 and Marshal had formed the 4 bros group back in 1977!
Thanks to all the folks for posting Zimbabwe's music, esp from the 1980s when I travelled through your beautiful country. I used to record Zim Radio 4 on my shortwave radio--great music: great country! Aluta continua!
Two more mubhuti umo, mutvairo -o, Haiwa. Zvakanga zvakadaro zvazvo but people were happy and enjoyed life. actually I would have that life today compared to whats happening today in our beautiful country Zim. Shame on that man.
Great insight. Deeep stuff. What made people of that era relatively humble and honest was mainly that they were less selfish than this age. The whole community came first. If the community gained a thing then the family benefits and so the individual. That is one jewel we are losing yet so fast. This day most people want it ALL, want it NOW,want it for THEMSELVES no matter what SIDE-EFFECTS it has on the whole.
i like ''mapadza endebvu, mabhodhoro, mazai apo, vachada mazai apo, vachada marazor blades, malooking glass''. that was high life, everybody was honest and hardworking for their families. so humbling. then came corruption
highlife is possibley the most full-of-life music in the world, it is also one of the least widely known. there should be a bar playing this in every town in the world. i really want to go to zimbabwe to hear it in the original setting.
very deep message, only if the world understood the words.. basically he is saying that never be ashamed of the typa job you working, wat matters most is taht you feeding your family..everyday struggle
@037712 i remember this song. life was great in Zim. i remember passing thru Mbare musika, it was zhowe zhowe, good people selling their merchandise. people would make a decent living out shear and honest hardworking. i'm mourning the death of our past. those were the days. i feel sorry for this lost generation. zimbas have always been good people.
