I love this game so much. Best 8-bit boss music ever.
I was sadly never able to find a copy to buy back in the day, I only got to rent it a few times. Now I've never considered my gaming skills to be anything to really brag about, but I was quite surprised to read so many comments about how brutal this game's difficulty is. I could crush this game as a kid, I never really found the difficulty all that bad.
Damn! I almost forgot about this game, and I thought Super Meatboy was hard. This is definitely a classic title, makes me wanna dig through the crates, dust off and break out my NES again. Awesome video. :)
I am surprised You don't know this game, Luke. I am a Video Game collector myself, and this game was one of the first game I played on NES way back. The first one I was playing was actually a Japanese version titled "[raf]" (which i thought it was IRAFI at the time)
The HVGN did this game for like his second ever review and he loved the game. He didn't seem to care a lot about the story, but it looks great. I might have to play this somehow in the near future
Sunsoft games has always had great music. Batman, Gremlins 2, Blaster Master, Fester Quest etc... Notice how many of sunsoft classics have that familiar music tone in them. =]
It was supposed to be a Terminator game, but for some reason, the licence was given to LJN instead. Not kidding, fucking LJN got the rights over Sunsoft.
great video for a great game i remember playing game when it came it made me so made i broke my controller i went through allot of them had very little patients for game that i would die in for some stupid reason and nes game were famous that it would be some years late in life that i would beat but man let me tell that was a great feeling lol and the soundtrack was very well done i heard some remixes of that rock, another A1 video luke 5 big stars for you buddy later !!!!!
Sunsoft games usually had pretty good music. Their composer was a legend. Surprising this was an Asian made game, it feels very Western. As it goes I seem to remember they had the licence for The Terminator but then Hemdale went with another company so they changed a few things and released it anyway. Will have to check my facts on that one. I'll have to check this out anyway, looks cool.
Yeah this game rox! My neighbor back in the day had this and he brought it over one day. We hooked my NES up to my dads stereo and we rocked this shit loud! Music was just awesome on the NES but yeah it was hard! It was a rare game I mean most people never heard of it back then.
They don't want to hurt the kid's self esteem, to put it frankly. They're babying the gaming community. A younger gamer from this day and age could beat Halo 3 on Legendary, and then play Contra for the first time, and break something in frustration and give up. Games nowadays are crap.
That's why you go hardcore on it; when you die in a game, shake it off and remember why you died. In side scrolling shooters, the only REAL way to win is to memorize every level front and back and know in advance EXACTLY what's going to happen. Like in Contra 3, I could tell you the extent of every level, when enemies are going to come, what kind of enemy they are going to be, what side of the screen they're going to appear on, and what you should do about it, on Normal, anyway.
I try to be but I'm still not very good. I have one Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the Game Boy. I had the game for years. I could get all of the way to Act 5, but I could never beat the Final stage.
i own the japanese version which name is "RAF" world. The alternate version has some little variation in which the main character wears a cyber-suit. Other than that the game is pretty much identical to the one shown in this video.
Journey to Silius is by far one of THE most unforgiving games on the NES. You ain't kidding about the difficulty level. I can honestly say I never finished that game without the almighty game genie.
i got this game for xmas back in 199x and i have had the music from the first stage and first boss fight (the helicopter with the jumping things) in my head for almost 20 years to the point where i forgot where the music game from untill i played the game on my emulator the other day and i was like "this is where that music is from!!!" i totaly forgot lol. great game
Bleeding hell this game looks fantastic! And I dig the fact that from what I can see, the challenge looks difficult but at least it isn't rage inducing compared to games such as The Silver Surfer. I only saw it but never played, but it looked pretty bad! Damnit, now I gotta put this game on my list of NES games to get when I acquire one.
not relly considering the limitations of the NES. an action sidescroller was the fps of the time so that makes it more of a competiter rather than a rip-off
This one of those game where I can find myself out on town humming the songs while browsing shops. The music is SO deliscious :D
Another thing I love, and get annoyed over at the same time, is the physics in this game. You dont drop of a ledge straight down like in mega man, you fall forward thanks to your momentum. Its a really nice touch, but it can really screw you up in some areas!
This was supposed to be The Terminator, but there was issues with licensing another company got the license, and so sunsoft changed the story part a bit, tweaked graphics, and came up with a unique name.

You probably never played Magician on NES. That's the most difficultest game what I ever seen.

Y is it with old games if they look good they are viciously hard????
preydog1 2 years ago
That's how old games were, new games are too easy, in the old school days, game designers weren't afraid to give gamers a challenge.

damn strait man we need a challenge to keep us playing last challenge we got was though the fire and the flames on guitar hero 3
