Hi there. I am a true fan of Vangelis, but had as yet not heard or seen this. Thanks. I may need to educate myself but I have a question. I was under the impression that horses are not indigenous to America, that the Europeans brought them here.I guess it's possible that Vikings might have introduced them earlier in history. Did you mean Americanized European horses that had become wild in their "new environment", free of human domination ? Would you clarify this for me, please. If you can.
"...In my youth i did this so called "Barock Rideing". Smooth and soft working with a Horse. Being gentle and make it do awesome moves. Now I am old and poor so I cant do it anymore but I envy those who can, Going soft on a Horse makeing it your Friend and not humilate it...."
A piece of advice.... listen to this track having your eyes shut. .... and you will realize that you are dreaming and seeing fantastic worlds and sights..... Vangelis is a genius. GENIUS who accidently started music... good for us.
i grew up with vangelis (thanks, dad) and i'm a huge fan of michael wincott--but this video really made the horse stand out majestically for me. i wish i had the money to pursue equestrianism.
i cry sometimes when i watch this movie, simply because the western hemisphere was never the same after that.
@meetdiamond Funny you say that because during this time just to the North a horse culture was thriving among many tribe like the Souix, the Apache, the Comanche, etc until europeans came and killed all the American horse breeds because they felt they can not be tamed, but what Europeans did not know was you can not tame an American horse by beating it.
Don Adrian de Moxica:You know what will be said about my death in Spain, dont you? You are nothing! Your bastards will never inherit your titles. We are EVERYTHING. We are immortal!.
What a great scene.
The real Adrian de Moxica was hung from the walls of the fort after refusing to confess his crimes.
Strange fact: Hanging was an honorable death for basques and my thracian ancestors, in the name of sky/cosmos god, ZA-MOLXE (Ouranos)!
It is absolutely genious, like all tracks of Vangelis in this special album. In this one, they could perfectly catch the dark side of iberian latin soul. Portuguese and spanish show passion in all sort of feelings..love..hate...pain. Can be as aggressive as happy and sweet. It is a strong, powerful track...I can sense the feeling in it grow inside everytime I listen to it...Absolutely perfect, inspiring...
@RedMoonTonight Very poetic, touching and intelligent comment, I totally agree. Vangelis created a real masterpiece, both lyric and dark, as flamenco songs can be.. which is part of my life more than 10 years. Whole album "Conquest of Paradise", in extended edition (complete movie soundtrack), especially "Hispaniola", "Moxica and the Horse" and "28 paralell".
No, its not. For me, its the voice of death, followed by the echo of silence and in this silence, a new soul is reborn to start a new generation to come.
Great video. My favourite part in the movie thoush is when he is sitting on his horse and the natives surround him....that cool stature that contemptous look on his face, the horse's breath. That moment is a masterpiece in the movie...
Michael Wincott was INCREDIBLE in this movie!
