Unless you're talking about 24 Karat gold, which rings are NOT. Then most commercial gold is composite material consisting of gold copper, nickel, and zinc.

Silver would also be too soft without adding copper. Therefore your argument is poorly thought out and invalid.

Just get yourself a titanium ring. Or one of those cheap ones, wear it on your right (if you're right handed) makes it cake to open bottles. You'd be surprised at the strength of rings, particularly the silver ones. But if you're afraid of damaging it, like I said, find a titanium ring. That won't break.

Fuck ur fingers worry about the gold, it is a very weak metal, that's why they always bite it in those old western cartoons and movies to see if its real, they check to see if they can make teeth marks in it. I'm not sure what bottle caps are made of if you do that enough I'm sure the ridges will begin to show up in the ring.

I've been doing this for years, and it works fine, but don't do it too much, or your ring will break! Gold is soft, and will eventually break, so do what I did, and switch it to a silver ring, or better yet, a steel ring, which will not break as easy.
