A 13c Baroque lute would be the "authentic" instrument for the Suites by Bach; I have chosen the archlute for personal reasons.

I really love this song, for me who started the violin at 12 y of age it is the ouvre of the baroque.(in the next life it gonna be lute) So many baroque things in such a short song, i dont care if people say that .Martin play it this or this, he plays it perfect in my opinion and i newer get tired of the way he plays it. Ich habe mir schon viele Interpretationen dieser Sarabande angehört, und ich muss sagen, dass mir diese bis jetzt bei weitem am besten gefallen hat. Keine unnötigen Verzierungen und virtuosen Spielereien, keine überflüssigen Wechsel der Klangfarben, sondern einfach nur ruhiges, meditatives Spiel, welches die Musik selbst im Vordergrund stehen lässt. For your information: I am listening after 5 mounth 4 or 5 times a week these monumental sarabanda. Some time I am confused; is Bach playing a sarabanda by Andreas Martin?. But listening again I am sure that Bach is playing his sarabanda!!!!!!. You are a monumental musician Andreas Martin!!!

Please do not continue repeating the distortions of the 20th century conservatory Arte-Deco baroque.Andreas's 'personality' is all over this rhetoric-which does not belong to Bach but mankind. What does Andreas say? Vast space & freedom from mechanization & totalitarianism;deep sincerity to convey his own ideas on the luminescent qualities of these phrases passing ephemereally.I don't agree that we need 'more lute in this century'.What we need is more of Andreas's lute-in this century.

What a joy to see an artist of this calibre put himself so completely at the service of the music and let Bach speak, for once - instead of thrusting his own "personality" into the foreground! In doing so, how much more real personality Andreas Martin demonstrates than so many other busy "interpreters". This is just wonderful sensitive musicianship! Bravo! I loved the Froberger pieces, too! When can we expect more of this?
