NSDNR still has an original 50's Power Wagon, still in the green with orange roof, and "Lands and Forests" badging. Im really not sure what year it is exactly tho.,
Hey now, we've got a 1949 Dodge Power Wagon as our brush truck. The damn thing just cannot get stuck, its impossible to get it stuck. But rather easy to catch it on fire we have learned...hehe.
We are going to be getting rid of ours soon, parts are so hard to find now and we really need something that can get to calls faster...alot faster. And without catching on fire.
Why man, it is so difficult to find one this days, well Im not living in the USA, my dad bought it from the Colombian army several years ago, and till now it gettin on their foots. Why you just dont add some parts from other vehicles like a new diesel engine and a new axles, is that expensive? I love those cars, and I want to buy another.
We would love to keep the old gal around but, its just not suited for what we need it to do anymore. yeah its great when you need to go offroad, but most newer trucks can do pretty much the same thing. That and its becomming a hazard to us on the road, its just time for it to be retired.
lol! I know, that thing could be a hazzard, Im affraid to drive mine cos the well known braking issues. Is too sad you have to get rid of yours. But good luck with your new purchase, I hope your new car can serve you well and your family :)
Haha...well its not really for my family family, our Power Wagon is the Brush Truck on my Fire Department. I myself drive a Dodge Dakota V8 Magnum (Alot faster than the old power wagon)
Ah oh well that change the things a little bit. ;)Is amazing that your fire departament still are using power wagons, but I think is more dangerous for the owner of the property on fire that for you drive this car, he will need to wait too much until the help arrive hahaha. Im so envy about your Magnum, that should be a beast!
I remember when I was four and went to this. My dad was and mom participated on behalf of the Douglas County Engine Company, NV. Since then the DCEC no longer exists as an active fire company and this muster stopped many years ago. So much has changed in the near 15 years since then. The old volunteer spirit of competition is gone. It's sad really.
If you have any more VC muster videos, put them up! Memories are pretty much all that is left of those times.
