  • great setups and very nice greenhouse!

  • David, thanks for sharing all of this!

I have a question about the new outside hydroponic setup, if the drain and feed both run to about halfway up inside the tube, then the tube won't drain when the pump shuts off, right? Will the plant roots get enough air this way, if they are constantly submerged?

  • The feed pipe does not have the 3/4" coupling screwed onto the pvc bushing and is almost flush with the 4" tube. The system fills for 6 minutes then drains for 20 minutes. Very little nutrient stays in the tubes after the draining cycle completes which takes 4 or 5 minutes.

  • A few things..

What size pump do you have to use to push the water to your outside pvc setup?

What type of feed system is in your orange 5 gallons?

  • I have the same pump in both systems. Purchased at Harbour Freight rated at 190 gal/hr with 1/2 inch outlet. The orange buckets are based on the Earth Box design. Contain Potting Mix, fertilizer, and a little lime. I add water via the 1/2 pvc pipe to the space between the two buckets every 4 or 5 days. Construction details in a previous video I posted.
