I love the term "dooms day" lol how many different dooms are we dealing with here? obviously more than one...

That is the begining of the anvil forming on top of a thunderstorm. The cumulous cloud is trying to breech the cap that is trying to keep it from forming... When the cap gets breeched, the cloud can go higher and the top can be sheered off, forming the anvil cloud. If sufficient energy is there to mantain the breech in the cap, there is a pretty powerful storm there. Sometimes it goes back and fourth, up and down and usually, the storm is very weak or none at all, just clouds.

It's called pelius. Its when sun light is reflected with water droplets on top of a thunderhead. Kinda like a rainbow. I beautiful sight though.
