i started watching grange hill 1990-ish when they were using the more recent theme music - but i can remember watching the repeats that bbc2 started showing back in april 1993, every sunday ... every single episode, and this music was used n i loved it after hearin it for the first time!
still, that being said the other theme music is better than this!
Oh my god I've gone back in time! I used to like this programme, anyone remember Mr Bronson the scary teacher who became headmaster at one point? I met him once he was really nice and i think he played Adolf Hitler in an Indianna Jones film not sure though. But anyway thanks for the time travel experience
Interesting reading what the American said in the other comment,i once heard the GH theme used in a scene in an American naughty film called Babyface years ago.
full length, superb. many thanks...i play bass in a band & we've often messed with this, but we are definitely going to work this out now.
when GH i was about 10 yrs old, & me mum would get really cross if she caught us watching. She thought it was too rude. She should have had a closer look around my own crappy school if she wanted rudeness!
im only 22 but when i was small (about 8 or 9 i used to watch the repeats of the show from the 70 and 80s and wish i was around then. stil do really would love to have been my age in say 85. great show
For all anoraks(myself the biggest on eof all (lol),we are approaching the 30th anniversary of the transmisssion of the first EVER episode of 'Grange Hill'-on Wednesday 8th February 1978-it was the week before my 7th birthday, and I was one of the last few kids in black-and-white-how about that for a trip dowm memory lane??!!
i always mind the sausage on the fork bit in the titles...ooyah!

Yes he did play Hitler in Indiana Jones. He was also an Imperial Admiral in The Empire Strikes Back. Vader killed him.

This tune was also used as the theme tune to the ITV gameshow Give Us a Clue between 1979 and 1981.

Damn. The first 13 seconds are awesome. I'm from the US and only know of Grange Hill through one scene in the most amazing show ever: Spaced. Go UK.

It sounds a bit like the beginning of "Unidentified (Flying Being)", a Steve Hillage track from about the same time.
