hi sparky is adorable. my boyfriend wants to get a quacker but im concerned because i read that they bond to only one person. im afraid that it going to either hate me or him.
exuse me sparkyparrotbirdston butcan you teach me a few facts about these i just got one and its a boy and we are getting a girl parrot to so are they going to fight fall in love? so be myfriend on youtube thanks!
just bought a quaker for 200euro. not sure if its male or female but named him Alex anyway. petshop said he is 6 months old... he's very tame but doesn't say a word yet. wonderin wot age do quakers usually starts mimicking words???
The bird firstly has to be comfortable with you, and happy to sit on your hand/shoulder.
Repeat what you want your bird to say constantly, and when the bird starts trying to say the words, praise it and give it a treat. Be as affectionate with the bird as it will allow, they love contact.
i just recently got a 5 and half months old quaker and i realli love him but i need some help on how to get him to not be scared of me and any tips on the best diet? he is takin nuts out of my hand but onli if i basically put the nut on his beak what do i do
I feed Sparky Lefeber's Nutriberries and Zupreem Fruit Blend Diet, along with some human food. Just spend lots of time with your quaker and never get mad at him. Play with him lots outside of his cage - because quakers can become really territorial in their cages.
He needs to learn that he can trust you not to hurt him.
Spend some quiet time with him, let him get used to your presence. Then chat to him and build a relationship. Never be angry or yell around him, birds easily pick up on tension.
Also, learning about punctuation isn't a bad idea.
Unlike you, there are intelligent people out there who care about the upbringing of birds. We appreciate the time it takes to train a bird how to speak. If you dont care, dont watch the video, let alone leave a comment stating how stupid you are. :) Cheers.
HI - you have to have a DNA test done to accurately determine the sex of a bird. Sparky is a male. The tech at the clinic guessed his sex prior to seeing the test results based on the spacing of the cloaca bones (or something like that...).
aw he's cute. quakers are among the best talkers and I think one of the most intelligent--they're mischeivous. some people interpret this as being pesky but their intelligence allows them to thrive in some areas not considered natural habitat.
please i got 2 quakers that are out of control 1 is a male the other is a female, they dont like me ,and no one else, they already bite alot, they dont like me touching them, please tell me how you do it? give me some tips i beg you, thank you
Yikes - that's sad to hear! Sparky has always been a complete angel - he does throw a temper tantrum occasionally - but is super sociable - he will step on anyone's finger. I almost think having just one bird allows him to bond to his human family more. Your birds might also be in a constant state of courtship, which can make birds aggressive. Just keep spending as much time as possible with your quakers... don't move their cage contents around much - they like things a certain way!
he's so cute! I gave your video 5 stars! Im considering getting a quaker parrot and anything that you could tell me about them would be a big help. Thanks! :D
Hi - Sparky's a great pet - by far the best I've ever had - he really has personality....but he does require at least a few hours of your attention every day. He can also be very noisy - there are days when he's a screamer and I've actually needed to go out to get some time away from him. All in all, the good vastly outweighs the bad for me - but you should know this since you're considering a quaker.
Thank you so much! I really need people to be honest with me and tell me the good AND the bad so that I know what to expect, which is what you just did. I really appreciate it when people take the time to reply to my comments, especially because I dont know anyone who has a quaker. If there are any stories about your bird that you would like to tell me, feel free to send me a message, I would love to hear them. Thanks so much!! :)
uhm so now do u have ur quaker parrot...i know they are fantastic n i love birds...but uhm i also recommend u to buy a lot of toys for them because my quaker parrot at the beginning when i bought him he had only one toy
n it took me a lot of time to buy more for him n well now he gets scare of the toys i buy for him
Sparky started talking within a month or two -so he was about three or four months old. His first word was Hello. He actually talks much more than this video shows, because he's a bit afraid of my web cam.
that's awesome, our parrot do not talks yet, and we have been living with him for one year, he just makes a lot of noise and weird sounds, i'll post you the video of my parrot as video response to this one so that you can see it
I have a Quaker. They're playful and friendly, but they can also be moody. If they don't want attention, don't force the issue! All parrots need a lot of attention because they are "flocking" birds. But Quakers, especially, seem to need a bit of down time. Just follow their lead.
You sound like a parrot yourself.

You have to get it DNA tested. there is no way of telling by just looking at them.
