I'd like to tell you, but I actually had no hand in it. The laser effects were done by a visual effects student in India. :P But I think Adobe AfterEffects is the program you want to do this.

Like most corporations these days, we resorted to the magic of outsourcing. :P We found this digital effects student in India through craigslist, we mailed her the rough copy of the movie, gave her the right direction, and she did the laser effects for us free of charge.

Of course this was long after the movie made its premiere, but whatever... *lo*

Not bad. My constructive criticism, your actors should be filmed fighting a little slower. This way in post you can speed it up a little and the fighting will look a lot crisper and instinctual.

Yeah, the acting wasn't great, but I think it was a bit better than you give it credit for. I'm starting college next year and majoring in film, so I'll probably make a star wars movie. Actually, I'm already making one now =)

heck, I think the one film in our class that was the best (sound, cinematography, effects) was the rape story. Can't remember the name of the short story, basically a girl doesn't listen to her mother and ends up getting kidnapped by two guys. The group filmed an alternate story where she gets away. Overall it was cool, but no lightsabers =/
