  • Very good play from the Zerg, but I thought he did throw away a number of brood lords unnecessarily. The lesson is, Zerg players who don't use infestors only have half an army.

  • Why did they take out lettting infestors take control of air units? Its not even cheap. Its hard to take control of units, but KHB made it look real easy.

  • @flapplewapple because everytime the zerg seem to have the edge, the ability has to be toned down so they cant match the protoss mother ship or other super units.

  • WOW infestors could mind control a high templar and make it psi-storm its own units. Then fungal growth so that the enemy forces cant flee out of the storm!

  • I think I would have liked to see more use of infested terran to counter the vikings, but perhaps the neural parasite was more effective per energy than I think.

    I'd like to see how this game would have turned out post-patch with indefinite duration on neural parasite but with nerfed infestor health, burrowed speed, and range.

    GG, and I'd like to see the knew role of the infestor with the tweaks in mind.

  • The inf terrans are not very good, to be honest. Very little damage and health.

  • but they're free -> they're better than normal marines and if they even kill one marine, they deales 50 mins damage, but if they get killed you lost nothing.

  • Is not that Zergs are imba. Its just that he was using high tech casters in a nice way while TeamEG went to raw power units (thors)...when your enemy can control your units. that is a pretty retarded thing to do.

    It seems like having High Templars, or Ghosts is a MUST in a Protoss or Terran army now. Even seen several times how just having these units make the difference in a game!

  • I'm extremely tempted to say: "Rolly Polly owns your ***"... haha. Interesting game from both sides. KHB does seem to have a weakness against hellions right after expansion in the games I've seen...

    But that Infestor fungal growth and neural parasite looks like a lot of fun. I didn't realize that fungal growth affects air units too (it does right?) which I never thought of. Anyway, gg.

  • When theres a "rare" unit (i.e. infestors) it would be nice if you'd done a closeup to show some graphic detail. I've seen probably ~50 replays already and it's the first time i actually saw infestor, not even mentioning the brilliant usage.

  • Wow.. one of the best SC2 games i've seen so far. The infestors seem really powerful in mass numbers, even if EMP'd it'd only take ~25sec's until they'll be able to cast infested terrans. And that's assuming the ghost survives from all the neural parasite'ing and fungal growth. =='

  • That ending was the coolest ending I've ever seen. Though, I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out counters to those infestors, for protoss. Terran can just EMP, but I don't know what protoss is gonna do.

    They can move out of a psy storm, and it isn't a newb friendly ability anyways. Especially when compared to EMP and fungal growth. If stalkers can blink while snared, that would probably be a viable counter.

    I think I kinda forgot about the other abilities. They can spew out several infested terrans and fungal spore you, which will be a pain in the ass. If you don't outnumber the infestors, they'll just mind control most of your army and make them kill each other.

    Infestors with all of their abilities, seem like a big issue for protoss.

  • Protoss have a new counter against them: Feedback. High Templar received this ability in the latest patch and it replaced the former Phase Shift. Feedback destroys all the energy the unit has and also deals the same amount of damage to it's health.

    For some reason I was thinking they got hallucination instead(I'm crazy, aren't I?). Despite the fact I've actually read the patch notes. Not sure why I thought it was hallucination.

    If you don't have enough energy and HTs, you could be in big trouble. EMP is still a lot more effective, because its AoE. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't.

  • Sentry has Hallucination, researched at Cybernetics Core.

    It's true that Ghost and HT kinda counter each other, Ghost can kill HT with one Snipe Round and HT can kill Ghost with one Feedback. It comes down to micro.

  • The terran player scanned zerg's base and saw a big group of infestors. If he could get one (cloaked ghost perhaps) EMP shot on to those infestors during the initial fight then it would of been an instant GG

  • @bbestar i think you have it right on, most of us see infestors as a nuisance but not a threat, and with all the hype about roaches and hydras, no one would have seen this coming, when i saw the infestors i was like o wow, thats interesting... but i guess thats y these guys are pro and know exactly what they are doing. that attack between the 40 rines and 4 thors vs almost all infestors was to me quite an eyeopener, next time i see mass infestors, im getting cloaked ghosts

  • i wonder why zerg didn't mind control the viking, tell it to land, and then have the brood lords kill the grounded viking? that would have saved ALL of his broodlords.

  • Ridiculous game :) It's hard for me to imagine what Terran could have done towards the end (in terms of unit combinations) besides Ghost EMP and/or more Vikings (+ plus Ravens). I wonder if Ghosts' EMP could hold off the infestors long enough to protect a Battlecruiser fleet..

  • Stims without medivac? Marines against Brood Lords? Marines against FungalG (guaranteed Marine kill)?! Terran built the _worst_ units possible at all times. If he had gone Reapers after the inital fight he could have killed drones and won. If he had built Vikings when Zerg had 3 mutas he could have killed overlords and won. He could have built ghosts to EMP the infestors -- hell, he couldve nuked since Zerg never built any detectors. Infestors werent the problem: that Terran was playing drunk.

  • Under the constant attack and the lack of resources, Terran player has no choice but to build cheap Marines. If he built Ghost, he would have no gas to build Viking since 1 ghost cost 200 gas and he will get raped by an army of Brood Lords. Also, it only take the Zerg about 1 minutes to build detector from those OverLord to deal with cloack and parasite will destroy any nuke attempts. Please don't make sound like you are plantinum level player cause I think you are an idiot

  • Sorry, for my poor concentration, but after watching it carefully, Terran still heavily lack resources, the only difference is they lack mineral instead of gas as I expected due to the high production of marine and Viking. Still, nuking might be able to work once but it won't change much except interrupt Zerg mining process in 1 base for 10 seconds and costs Terran 350 minerals and 450 gas (for the Ghost, the cloak and the nuke). Simply not worth time and resource. Sorry, you are still an idiot

  • You're proposing using Nuke on the enemy and NOT considering hitting the enemy army? So you expect Terran to nuke a base and not follow up with a simultaneous attack? Your stupidity knows no bounds. Nuke doesn't just hurt drones. I do like how you admit you weren't paying attention in the first place -- so you didn't know what was going on, but you stand by your fact-free commentary. Brilliant.

  • Fool,KHB have only two bases, so there is possibility for Terran to kill few units by nuke, but to kill entire battalion is impossible especially after Zerg has detector, he can just parasite the Ghost when he is nuking and done. Also, after the first nuke, the Ghost Academy will be Zerg high priority target, do you think Terran can safely build another nuke when he don't even have unit to protect his main base? I wasn't paying attention for the resources not the game, Mr smart like an ass.

    "After Zerg has detector" -- Zerg didn't have detectors. That's the point. The stupidity here is incredible. And Terran should have attacked before Infestors came out -- that was pointed out by others. And who cares if the Academy is a "high-priority target" since Zerg lacked the strength to attack Terran until Terran built all the wrong units AND let Zerg recover. The idiocy here is sad. And that last sentence was gibberish.

  • It seems like you didn't read my previous debate , it was not a comment but a reply for a fool who think Terran should go nuke instead of building army to protect his main base. Don't open your mounth if you have no idea what others are talking about.

  • Terran wasted resources on turrets that could have been an additional expansion and/or a larger army. Fail to miss that and you'll erroneously conclude that Terran had no options when, in fact, Terran _wasted_ more resources than Zerg lost due to Terran's own attacks.

  • I never ever concluded that Terran has no option left. Where did you find that from ? Terran wouldn't have to build another expansion since he could simply seak his first CC out but he didn't do that ( probaly have no time to think ). Also, Turrets are not entirely waste since they was able to kill some Corruptors that obviously cost more, and prevent them from flying around corrupting too much.

  • Good game, but I have to say on the terrans made the mistake of not making seige tanks.

    With a line of tanks, detection and with other unit support, there would be no way those infestors to get so close to caste their abilities.

    But then again most of us including teamEG hasn't really seen infestors in action, so lesson learn.

  • zerg player would have just mind controlled the siege tanks and just demolish the terran's own army with them. that's probably why he didn't make siege tanks.

  • But who will deal with Brood Lords when Siege Tank show off its power ?. Building Siege Tank means reduce Vikings cause boths cost a lot gas.

    you can EMP zerg and drain mana. nub. doesn't matter if there aren't shields. mana = energy. so EMP works.

    however, the infester can just use the plague ability and kill the ghost that way. it'd be a hard battle

  • The infestor can also use the neural parasite ability on the ghost and have it cast EMP to waste its own energy. Infestors are insane.

  • psionic power is based on the manipulation of electromagnetic fields, so an EMP would very much affect it.

  • 7 infestors + 3 brood lords = 1600 min/1800 gas worth of high tech, micro-intensive units. Would it be more believable if was 3 battlecrusiers and 4 ravens instead?

  • The Terran player needed 1 Ghost to EMP all of the Infestors to turn the game around. Unfortunately, you don't see many Terrans build Ghost Academies against Zerg as the Infestor isn't usually a common unit.

  • nah helions move too fast and with that igniter kill drones too fast. if teameg was good he would just run away to the other base as the crawlers showed up or attack the crawlers while they were moving/burrowing and left once they burrowed

  • KHB could have choked his ramp with spine crawlers to prevent the hellions from invading his base.

  • The infestor tongue control thingy would be easier to use and make more sense if it was permanent while draining mana from the infestor.

  • Wait permanent and draining mana? So when Infestor doesn't have mana anymore, it just end? This way, it is balanced and leaves room for another infestor abilities.
