  • my mum and me used to sing this:) she passed away 2wks ago and this is our song<3 xx

  • An undeniable masterpiece.

  • On this day in 1960, Marty Robbins single, "El Paso" reached #1 on the music charts. While the lyrics, melody, cadence, spanish guitar, tragic story and of course, Marty Robbins incredible voice, are each fantastic on their own, together they combine to truly become something greater than their sum. This song has proven timeless, transcending not only from country music into mainstream, but into other cultures and countries too. It is well known all over the world to this day. Thank you!

  • Grady Martins' guitar playing is killer !!

  • I don't usually like tragic songs, but this is an exception. Well-performed and very touching.

  • My dad used to sing this to me at the doctors office when I was little, to calm me down...I was afraid of the shots lol. I'm in my twenties now and listen to it whenever I feel homesick.

  • SHIT ITS A DEATHCLAW!

  • thank you for the lyrics! man i love this song!

  • lived there six months great place ed uk

  • RIP Marty

  • One of the best song writers in America. I understand he wrote this on a notepad in the passenger seat of the family station wagon as they drove thorugh the Texas bad-lands, while looking at the scene around him with the kids in the back seat. Am I wrong?

  • beautiful...thanks for the post

  • Catchiest song ever...in a good way!! =)

  • One of the nicest songs Marty sang..A terrific guy!! MM Wrexham N Wales UK..

  • This is the best song ever written. The lyrics, background vocals and guitar, along with Robbins unique natural voice all combine to be truly greater than the sum of their parts. My favorite song ever since I was 4 years old!

  • i remember when i was in nashville about 3 years ago and i went racing with my dad at the speedway. when they would turn on the loud speaker this was always the first song that was played. this brings back some good memories. i really hope they dont knock that place down

  • 1 guy is a frekin' NAZI! MEXICANS. MEXICANS. epsect 4 some lol

  • The cowboy that got shot is the one who rated this down.

  • Reminds me of me old mate Big Al. Miss you.

  • This song, along with Patsy's, is probably on 90% of the juke boxes in America.

  • Awww....this song reminds me of being a little girl and how my dad listened to this

on Sunday mornings while he made pancakes. Thank you! :)

  • Haven't heard this song since I worked at the petrifried forest!!!! Couldn't believe it, your the best.

telling a story for people, "something is dreadfully wrong" don't U love that, over a dame too.

  • Why were they chasing Felina's boyfriend? Not for killing the "wild young cowboy", but for STEALING A HORSE!!!

  • born in Chicago, resident of El Paso, Texas since June 30, 2000 to be exact.

  • ♥♥ Marty, Marty, Marty ♥♥

Only one BIG thing to say...

    AMAZING...

  • always loved this guy's music

  • my man,handsome,great voice.your legend lives.

  • Hey Robin remember?

  • I was never into country music but I always liked this song so much. I think it was the quality of the lyrics that makes this song so attractive to me.

  • hahaha my bff has this song 4 her ringtone lol

  • A brilliant parody of the story connected to this song could be found by typing "Steve Martin - and Monkeys" in the search box. It's from the TV special "Comedy Isn't Pretty!"

  • From a bygone age when songs told stories that moved you! Thanks for posting this!

  • One of Robbins's finest...

  • Marty Robbins (1925-1982)

  • i heard this song for the first time today. It really made me sad that music is no longer made this way. I haven't heard a modern day song this good since i listened to immortal techniques - Dance with Devil or Raconteurs - Carolina Drama. Songs like this just leave you in awe as you listen to each word being said in harmony with the music. its just good music, and thats hard to find these days.

  • They don't write songs like this today, do they? I mean songs with a narrative and not just some obscure way of saying your screwing the girl next door. It's a shame really because this song is an utter joy to follow to it's bitter-sweet end.

  • i would like you to leave song on your youtube awsomecrazyfaces this song is a classic by a legend thanks for doing this!!!!!!

  • Bravo.. It makes me sad, but in the best possible way. Thank you for the upload.

  • @BobK1001 XERB

  • Back in 1968 I went back to Scotland for a couple of years and I played the Gunfighter Ballads album till it nearly wore through. Marty made me so homesick for this side I just had to come back. I never got to see him live and I really missed out.

He was a real class country singer who loved the music and the cowboy life and legends, like I said before I really miss that old cowboy. I hope I get to meet him in the next life.

  • Ah! I don't blame him for coming back to El Paso!! Those leetle Mexican Senoritas are very preety!! I would have done the same theeng! Hola to the preety Senoritas!! Kudos to Marty for recording this great song!

  • This has always been onna my favorite gunfighter ballads of all time. I remember hearing someone say one time "no woman is worth dyin for, killin for, but not dyin for"

  • As a child many years ago needed this song played before I went to sleep.

  • awsomecrazyfaces tyhanks for doing this! this song is a classic and marty robbins is a legend!
