  • could be worse....could have lightning n' shit

  • Lolocaust

  • Nasty. I'd have been pretty upset if my dinghy had been in there.

  • The company I work for (seafari) had its boat moored in the harbour, u an just make it out. No damage thankfully. Being a commercial rib it just bounced off everything haha. The aftermath is a bit strange though. The dingy park is covered in 2" of sand, and there are huge boulders everywhere. not to mention the asphalt has been ripped up. fun fun!

  • @lllleeds If ma boat is oaf Cannes you'll ne'er see it, but when its back oaf NB youse can watch me swally fae the shore or maybe be ma waiter if your sticky fingers are no too busy nickin ma guid glaeses, ya stinky wee flea. Big waves like t.hat are the only way you'll even get a wash

  • The revenge of the swimming pool!!

  • what a shame, this is my second home

  • from my experience dinghy owners are amongst the tightest people on the planet. Whats wrong with my oilskins I have only had them 40 years.

  • they're yacht club people. they have cash.

  • @themro - that's a common misconception. Boats can be had for as little as a couple of hundred pounds, and people of all incomes can enjoy sailing, even the unemployed. Go along to your local dinghy sailing club and see - sailing is not a posh sport.

Curiously, motorsport doesn't seem to arouse the same jealousy, yet it's far more expensive even at it's cheapest, karting level.

  • @smellycheeseman - you must mean yacht racing at the upper levels. You can win dinghy races at your local club in a £500 boat if you're good enough. Cheaper over the season than being an away-supporter of footie.

  • @smellycheeseman - sure, if you choose to do any sport at top level it's going to be expensive. But I don't agree with your last statement - maybe it's a personal thing, but I've had fair success at national level yet the older I get the happier I am not to travel and just to potter round the club racecourse; just wait a few years :-)

  • Thanks for that Anton, Its really annoying when people think that, the majority of sailors have slowly improved their boats over 10 or 20 years and to see this happening is just heartbreaking

  • and it was my 1st home!

  • Good God!

See, if the outdoor pool had still been there, it would have caught a lot of that water. :p

Feel sorry for the people whose yachts got smashed, though. Hope your insurance comes through OK.

  • welcome to scotland

  • i was there :)

  • Blimey!

  • My boat was whizzing around in there, still not sure how much damage.

  • you kinda wanna swim in it
